  • Biblical and Systematic theology are two separate but complementary disciplines. But even in faith communities, both kinds of theologians tend to be rivals. Check this out!

I do as well. I’m a former pastor ( reformed) and yet, agree with much of MH exegesis… I would wholeheartedly disagree with his soteriology( reformed)…

I pray the Lord Jesus will set you free of the demonic ideology to which you are possessed.
Be free in Jesus name and may He show mercy on you for those you deceived into Calvinism and blaspheming the character of the Lord.

@@MoStBlEsSeD I come from the opposite end of the Canons of Dordt but I think yours is a perfectly reasonable position. I think you have to blend biblical and systematic theology in order to have a theology you can apply to your life. And what you appear to be doing is not allowing a single teacher to dominate your worldview. That I would also say is wisdom.

I appreciate that man so much. It's hard to see him like that. But I appreciate seeing him like that. True to his convictions and calling to the end. He looks a lot better now! Feels a lot better too!!

Dr. Heiser I wrote a book recently on theology and I refer to your books and research in my own. You have been such a great light and help for others. Thank you.

I love this! Finally I hear someone saying good things about BIBLICAL theology!! I really miss him. He had a gift to explain difficult passages and doctrine in a way so that anyone could understand. That is so rare.

I am so glad he spent so much time in these last months putting iut so many short videos with a narrow scope. The thing i have with so many prominent re-formed theology preachers is, they say sola scriptura, but it's really not. And it's obvious. It's the bible and, Augustine, and or Calvin, Luther, Beeza, MacArthur, Piper.

Hieser was/is still a blessing, BUT he is just a man. No disrespect to Mike and his honest effort, but we need to trust the words of Christ, the Holy Spirit in conjunction with the Word is our teacher. Don't get me wrong, I love the honesty and clear articulation Mike is famous for, yet, God is my teacher. We have to be careful not to idolize a man.
Again, my heart was broken when Mike passed. May God raise up more faithful servants.

I now I understand why on learning exegesis I gravitated towards Biblical theology now from Dr Heiser I'm learning how intense Biblical Studies are the foundation.

It was the same in the time of Messiah, when He attempted to expose the 'Religious leaders,' of that time. They too had a system, and they profited well by it.
It was because of their system of religion, and being made wealthy by it, as they controlled and manipulated the people, that they in the end, had the Messiah killed!
"What shall we do about this man, before the whole world follows after Him!?"
We know the outcome of that question...
But there has always been a systematic religious foundation, in the pagan worship of their gods and idols and those things they indulged in, for either profit or control.
Religion was and still is a big business! We can site such examples of this in modern TV preachers, that own several homes around the globe, and get to them by private jet.
'All paid for, by the tithes and donations of those who think they serve the Creator, or are attempting to find HIM.
Scripture warns against "filthy money." But it doesn't stop the love of it...

It's a shame that regularly diving deeper into the Word is so rare these days. You were a wonder to help combat that.

Something extremely wicked is happening within this world:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). God is allowing His people to see demons invading the bodies of Satan’s servants. Although God has blessed and allowed them to have life, all they care about is their own selves. Instead of beholding the glory of God and thanking Him for the life He has given them, they choose to plot, plan and go against God and their neighbors. Instead of causing good, they spew evil because they are being controlled by the defeated Satan, the god of this world-and he is not happy about this (Revelation 12:12)
This is a ploy to keep them against God and His creation. Satan wants man to disdain and undermine God, just as he himself has done. We are to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind-and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Jesus said do this and we shall live (Luke 10:27-28).

I have been led to do both, viewing it much as one hand washes the other. But I have been sadly surprised how many theologians do not do any original language word study. It seems often times the only time they mention an underlying Koine or Hebrew word is when they have read some other author that is assumed to have done some original language study. But who really knows? That author being quoted may be quoting someone else as well. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. As for me, I try to leave no stone unturned.

Here, again, I don't understand Michael's thinking that Sys Theologians are not familiar and studied in the original languages. Obviously a biblical theology might specialize in Hebrew or Aramaic while ST may only be generally taught in those languages. But that doesn't conclude that ST is ignorant of the original biblical text. I really like many of Michael's lectures and conclusions, but some are weak and show a bit of vain prejudice.

Languages are one thing, but let me give you an example of systemic vs. biblical. In america (and alot of other countries and cultures) if I say the word "marriage" the first thing comes to mind to MOST people is a ceremony. But, when God instituted "marriage" in genesis, He said the 2 become 1 flesh. And most people, in american christianity atleast, eill define fornication as "sex before marriage". How can that be when sex is CLEARLY what God instituted as marriage? I would use Jacob's story when his 12 sons were being born to him. It seems marriage is oneness. So, fornication is better defined as sex beofee promise and or understanding of living life together in oneness. Again, I would go 1Cor. 6 when Paul is saying, "Should i then UNITE myself with a prostitute? NEVER! Don't you know you're ome wiyh her in the body?" You see the "oneness" language correct? But the institute teaches marriage is ceremony. Clearly the bible teaches that it's sex. I wonder what would happen if we taught it like this: Be careful who you sleep with!! God said that's MARRIAGE! Choose your partner wisely!
