Mary King's Close, tucked away underneath the 18th Century Royal Exchange, is well worth a visit. It's an area of very old tenement blocks and streets that were sealed off two centuries ago, and only recently opened to paying visitors.

I live around 40 mins or so from Edinburgh and I fall in love with the city every time I visit, ever since I was little. Applied for Edinburgh Uni for this September, just waiting on a reply! Would be a dream to move there and go to uni so hopefully my dream will come true this year :)

Since you love Harry Potter so much you should try the Potter Trail tour next time you go up to Edinburgh. They take you to the different places that inspired J.K. Rowling throughout the city, as well as places that she wrote and lived. It's a fun experience.

The Airbnb looks beautiful and the food looks delicious. Side comment, did you have eyelash extensions on? If not what was the mascara you used?
The air bnb was amazing! Would definitely stay there again. Haha well spotted, I've had LVL lashes done so it's still natural but means it keeps the curl for 6-8 weeks ;)
I honestly can’t even count the streets anymore that are allegedly inspirations for diagonal alley 😂 it’s 3 streets in London alone and now apparently one in Scotland . It’s so sad how much Harry Potter is used to market cities as tourist destinations . But I guess they all wanna have a piece of the cake

Lovely video! I’m thinking of visiting Edinburgh in January as a solo traveler. Would you recommend it for someone with social anxiety and little travel experience?
I would say so! It’s very easy to travel around and the people are really helpful too if you need any help! I really loved Edinburgh (but bring LOTS of layers and thermals as it’ll be freezing)! Safe travels and have the best time!!! 💛

I am a bit late to the party but...
January (especially Mid to late) should be fine .
Travel is V safe and V modern so no probs there. It's more a case of
jumping on buses and trains than going to the village square to see if
you can hire a donkey
Think any modern city (with ancient architecture) rather than some 'Brigadoon' type place.
If you've missed that time frame but still want to come :-
Definetly avoid August(ish), place is full of pretentious students putting on fringe shows.

Edinburgh can be a bit touristy if the weather is at all decent, maybe somewhere quiter if you can only come in the summer.
New year too is a big no-no for anyone who doesn't love crowds.

Looks like great fun but only if you can cope with HUGE groups of strangers.
Only you can know how significantly this "anxiety" affects you .
Oh and just a word to the wise, everywhere is uphill from everywhere else, so be prepared for lots of leg work .
