Got on the train in 2020 so I have a unique perspective. 100 episode arcs Turning into 30 to 50 episode seasons will feel great. It’s going to be held in high regard like FMAB

good idea cutting this part of the live into its own video. very excited about this project, im looking for it to have a strong identity against toies version like how distinct jojo's is between the ova and david. the "definitive" experience doesn't matter as much to me, I'd be good with them skipping some parts, as long as the spirit is in tact kind of like the live action im good
Usopp should definitely be darker but why Robin? Oda said she'd be from Russia if she was from the real world.

Honestly seeing them refer to props and draw frames while looking at the manga pages made me even more excited. I love how detailed all the concept art is. I love that you can tell Zoro and Sanji have different builds and body types in the character sheets. And while they should maybe saturate everything a little more, I love the marker look. It looks just like the color spreads. I hope they keep it. But the production team is crazy! The _Attack on Titan_ director, the director of _Jujutsu Kaisen_ as your assistant director, the character designer and chief animation director of _Attack on Titan_ and _Spy x Family,_ the action animators for the remake worked on _Boruto_ and _My Hero Academia,_ the writer of _Ranking of Kings,_ and the remakes’s animation producer also worked on _Attak on Titan!_ What‽ The board member of WIT in the video said he first heard about the project 4-5 years ago which means they’ve been discussing doing a remake since Wano.
I love that they really seem to be sticking to manga fidelity. But I also hope that they play when it comes to stuff set up early, but we now know 1000 chapters later. For instance, in Buggy’s fight with Shanks during the Orange Town flashback, we now know Rayleigh was the pirate who broke it up. So show us young Rayleigh from the Oden flashback. Don’t just make it the random pirate Oda had to retcon into Rayleigh. Show other of the Roger pirates like Scopper, whom we meet in the Oden flashback. But maybe not Crocus or Oden. At Reverse Mountain, show us Yorkie, not the captain who would have to be retconned into Yorkie. Show us a character from the back that could be Brook. The Supernovas weren’t planned so maybe foreshadow them a bit with reports and new stories about other rookies tearing up other seas. Do what the Live Action did with those Foxy and Cavendish posters. And I hope they capture those moments in the early manga that when a character genuinely smiles, they shine in the panel.
What i read is robin was always more white not brown and when she went to winter island thats where she got her natural color back because she was years in alabasta and there its only sun so she got browner there what makes sense. And ussop got darker in the timeskip because of the island that he was in before that he is a bit lighter then the color that he is now
Even if it looks "better" and cuts out the filler, that still doesn't mean the music will be better or the emotional highs will be better. It could be, but we'll see. Sometimes older and simpler is better. For example I love the original Sailor Moon but I can barely watch one episode of Sailor Moon Crystal.
I'm sorry but anyone who thinks Nami has her post time skip proportions in this concept art are fucking BLIND

but if it ends up being the same cast, it’s not impossible. VA work is more flexible in time than an animation production, it’s very much possible.

"They're gonna do two anime at once?" Bruh look on mal the average voice actor does like 20 anime a year at least. That said, these voice actors are pretty old. If you look at the VAs for Luffy and Nami they mostly just play grandmas and stuff besides the onepeice characters. I remember checking out the Japanese audio for the Netflix series and the characters all *sounded old* it was a little weird, lol. So yeah I think it would probably make sense to get new actors, but fans may prefer the old voices even if they sound a little weird. (I remember the dub for the Amazon release of the last Eva movie, they got the original VA and Misato sounded like a chainsmoking grandma, lol)
It would be interesting if we got scenes about Luffy's life with Garp before being dropped with Dadan
If they can combine the muted colors with brilliant lighting I think it can be a very beautiful series. I remember Oda’s early panels capturing strong sense of lighting and I’d love to see that personally. I think the water color look has been done again and again to where it’s lost its unique appeal, it needs away to separate itself stylistically; and I love that Oda has opened that door for this animation team 💞
I have been a strong advocate for "read the manga, don't watch the abomination that toei makes" since dressrosa. Now there's going to be a much better alternative. I am so excited.
Dude wano and egghead are fine manga only fans know this if your honestly to slow to see that okay but yes I agree everything whole cake before could get readapted and be better but from wano and egghead up we’ll be fine the animation good it’s literally being praised it’s the reason why one piece anime #1 so relax.
Man what r u smoking ganja early one piece from Toei was great how alabasta looked the old art style etc and so forth . The so called pacing happened way way in Fishman island and dressrosa

I think that Greg Cipes or Tara Strong would be great voices for Luffy when we ever get an English dub.
The designs look good and Mehgan is definitely right about there being a bigger distinction between Sanji and Zoro’s builds. Not the biggest fan of the desatted colors but it isn’t the worst thing. My biggest problem with the og anime is the pacing though and not the visuals. I’m really hoping it has more momentum to the story telling. I would absolutely love if they reanimated the entire series if they fix that problem. And I’m willing to bet Netflix is foaming at the mouth for that opportunity because it’d be a license to print money. A more mature tone would be nice too.
Agreed Josh, I don't think there's any way the VAs come back. If anything, maybe only a select few, and even then it would feel like you're disrespecting the ones who you don't hire to reprise roles.
I think WIT would rather deal with the backlash at the outset than risk having one the VAs become unable (looking at you Franky) or in the worst case scenario pass away mid-series.

They definitely shouldn’t just emulate Oda’s style in the first arcs because even Oda himself has really improved as of late. They gotta update the OG arcs to the newer art style 🔥
When you have over 30billion like one piece you can remake your anime
I think one of the most brilliant aspects of Oda's art style is that he really makes an effort to show different types of characters. After all, One piece exists in an enormous world with people from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures. Obviously, there are criticisms towards his design of female characters, but at least compared to contemporary anime, One Piece is a world apart. It'd be a shame if a newer studio applied some of the worst aspects of modern anime design onto a beloved, unique anime like One Piece, Usopp being a blatant example of that.
people are overreacting with their skin colors. You know outside of america, skin color isn't that important. If you dwell with it longer the more offensive it becomes despite it being a completely innocent detail. Americans need to calm down.
I do like that characters had tanned skin in toei because it showed that they go outside often in the sunlight, meaning they work hard and not stay inside their houses doing nothing. So I appreciate it if that's what they're going for.

I hope this is a great project and people enjoy it. I personally will not enjoy this version or recommend it to others if its going to be different voice actors, different story telling liberties, etc. The small moments and the time the show takes to breathe and connect with characters matters especially pre-time skip. Post time skip the pacing could use some help but ill never see a different telling or hear different voices and think one piece.
Personally, it still amazes me how little integrity or standards Toei fanboys have. It's disgusting to me. It's 2024 and yet still Toei uses 80s and 90s sound effects. Toei makes 2 episodes out of 1 chapter on every chance they get. And yet there are people like you who have the audacity to say "post timeskip pacing could use some help". Could? Really?
Toei adaptation is trash. The only good thing about the current anime is the voice actors. And the problems started long before the time skip. They have been fking up character design since water 7. Characters that look attractive, Toei has managed to make look ugly. Naruo is also shonen, its target audience was also young people. Tell me. Did Naruto ever censor the episodes as heavily Toei did? Did Naruto ever add non canon nonsense into the canon episodes that confused the anime only watchers for years? Toei single handedly made me stop hating filler episodes. Cause filler episodes you can just skip. Like Naruto fillers or even Bleach fillers. Toei's One Piece is the only anime where the canon episodes feel like complete fillers with no story progression whatsoever. Naruto canon episodes were much more consistent that op episodes. In the original naruto, when Sasuke and Naruto fought, they upped the budget and production quality, changed the animation in way that made me feel like they brought in new and better animators. Tell me. Did Toei give a rats ass about the quality of the episodes even in Marineford? Toei promoted and advertised the first gear 5 episode as if it was a movie. And what happened? It was absolute trash. Let me guess, you think it's peak cause they repeated the same scene three times cause that's your bread and butter. They have to be paying you insane amounts of money to have opinions like these.
There are so many problems with the Toei adaptation that this remake can only be significantly better. Trust me, it's a good thing if Toei's paid goblins don't watch the remake. Stay in the past.
I honestly think you guys should just rename your channel " the one piece podcast" cos that's all you seem to cover, so many amazing anime and manga at the moment but it's all you seem to do when first discovered you thought you'd be talking about new manga and anime, volume ones as name suggests but nope just one piece
