I head to Spain to get behind the wheel of the new hybrid 2023 Range Rover Sport P510e.
From Land Rover:
The new extended range Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powertrains are led by the high-performance P510e. It provides a compelling balance of powerful performance and immediate responses from its six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine, 105kW electric motor and 38.2kWh battery, which seamlessly combine to develop 510PS.
For customary Range Rover Sport performance, a new P530 V8 Twin Turbo is available, providing 530PS, 750Nm of torque and a 0-100km/h time of just 4.5 seconds (0-60mph in 4.3 seconds) with Dynamic Launch engaged - matching the previous Range Rover Sport SVR - while providing a 17 per cent improvement in efficiency over the old V8.

One thing that the new generation of Range Rover got right about the interior is they returned to the methodology of the L322. You can kit out all trim levels with full leather as an option pack on a base SE, meaning you can have an interior worthy of a British car and nearly as nice as an Autobiography on the entry level. Makes a world of difference to the quality of the materials in the car and the feeling of them. And if you are so inclined to not like leather, they now offer special fabric interior thats vegan, rather than an imitation leather like Vinyl. Thanks for the video Sam.

I miss the days when Land Rover made tough looking off-road vehicles that were somehow still beautiful. I like this too looks like a great daily but I miss old defender, discos and Range Rover boxes.
Only thing I don’t like about the new sport is how low the number plates are on the front and rear of the car

Off road ability is important in my mind. Came out of older RRS for my current F Pace SVR. I did go off road to shoot on farms in my RRS and ability to get around a tractor tracks would be essential to sacrifice the pace of the SVR to go back to RRS. True test of that rear steer would be Mevaguissy in Cornwall. That's tight coming off the harbour.
What have they done to the rear end!!!

Excellent video of a Very Desirable Range Rover..! Living in Spain, as I have happily done for over 16 years, I am only too well aware of some of the narrow streets in some Pueblo's. Good to see that the new "Sport" not only still has the legendary off road capabilities, but also the manoeverability to negotiate such tight corners and a really quite frugal consumption, all wrapped up in a supremely comfortable interior. I also appreciate the understated yet distinctive style of the exterior. Still undeniably "Range Rover"..!!
After sitting on my thoughts for a month I think the exterior styling is a mess still. Disco Sport front & Velar-ish back end. Interior looks spot on. Wish they kept more of the L494 exterior style.
For the money I think I would go for the full fat Range and get slightly lesser spec

Have you considered a comparison test vs the Cayenne?
Would like a lot more details on the things you use all the time when you drive, for example is there a sound volume control on the steering wheel, how easy is it to change the temp, activate steering wheel heater, how well does wireless charging work, how easy is it to navigate the entertainment system to play a podcast or scroll satellite radio, how easy is it to plug an iphone into the rear seat entertainment screens and play a game or watch youtube? How many touches of the screen to get to seat adjustments like lumbar support or massage. How many touches of the screen or clicks of a button to see the surround view when you pull into a parking space and want to see the lines and curbs?

What colour was the test car; Varesine Blue? I’ve ordered one in this colour but still trying to convince myself it’s the right choice!
Would also like to know, looks a bit blue-ish so I guess Varesine but then I also thought the interior looked somewhat blue, so might have been the processing. It's definitely a dark grey-ish color, so Carpathian Grey could also be what this is (though I don't think so)?

Sam you can't compare the price of this hybrid with the regular fossil powered Range Rover Sport. Because as soon as electric drive is installed in cars, the prices rise immediately and the cars become heavier.
Yep. Completely negating the lower running costs they tout as a benefit.

Sam I drove our 2014 up to Tahoe, Ca quite often. It flew up the Sierras in Dynamic mode! It was a machine! But the seats in my opinion were too hard.

Could you please describe your impression of the P510e? How was your impression of the hybrid? Was the transaction between the gasoline and electric better or the same as the previous generation? Would appreciate a bit more reporting of the driver experience :-)
There is literally no rear bumper that could be big problem for tailgate damage, otherwise I really like it.

Looks like the 510e might be the one to have over the V8 with it’s real world probably 50 mile E range is enough for most school runs, then you’d be pleased whenever the ICE kicks in because it’s sounds pretty decent.

Rear lights should have been higher so the passengers upstairs of a double decker bus can see when it’s braking so they can tell the Bus driver when to brake
