  • This video is about a beautiful house in Rio Grande do Sul, south Brazil. The property comes with 6 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms, gym, cinema room and swimming pool. The house is located in a gated community called Vela Marina. This gated community is next to a lagoon called Lagoa dos Quadros and also near the coastal city of Capão de Canoa which is about a 2 hours drive from Porto Alegre and 4 hours drive from Florianopolis.

    Love the concept! One can build an 80's plus Mid Century fusion house like that on a smaller scale and a better budget and use works of art like this as inspiration.
    Large houses like these used to have two or three bedrooms for maids as you'd frequently have a couple of young women from small towns (or the northeast / north / central regions of the country migrating to the Southeast or South, mostly São Paulo and Rio) that would move to larger cities and work for free boarding plus minimum wage while studying or hunting for a husband.
    I only used my barbecue area once because I had it. Too much mess, too much work, too expensive and labor intensive when you have a party, unless you have staff, you end up tending to the barbecue instead of entertaining. We had a gas barbecue in Canada and it was much easier to deal with, charcoal is too messy and requires too much attention.

      I agree with you about the charcoal barbecue. I have one at home but use it very little as well.

    A house like this one here in the states, specially New Jersey , it would cost around 10 million dollars easily.

    In this region there are many cool condominiums with houses overlooking an artificial lake. Some condominiums are still under construction, which is an excellent investment opportunity. Two condominiums still under construction that I recommend are "ISLA" and "PRIME BEACH CURUMIM", both of which have a similar shape to the artificial islands in Dubai.

    If i was going to buy a beach vacation house id rather buy in northeast than in the south, summer all year around including the "winter", best beaches in brazil and more affordable.

    • @nordicinvestor
      @nordicinvestor  6 днів тому +1

      Very true, the northeast has a better climate and is more affordable.

    from a brazilian: that house only costs that much because of the gated community and the lake. if it was anywhere else it'd be U$ 2,5 mil AT MOST. also the HOA fees are unreasonably expensive in places like that (a dealbraker for the people who can afford it and aren't stupid)
    16:15 the spinning tv is a dead giveaway that this house has been designed with the brazilian noveau-rich in mind. most people with that much money and in their right mind would not want a bedroom that looks like a wannabe-luxury love hotel. it's honestly funny seeing people with regular to low incomes look at this and think it's exactly how the ultra rich live and envy it because it's so out of their reach. fun fact: houses with this "modern" architecture are much cheaper to build than the baroque-like ones... so make of that what you will.
    it's the kind of place people who grew up dirt poor and got rich rather quickly buy upfront and brag about it on social media. either that or they're up to their eyeballs in debt/make a living from scamming other people. disgraced fucking place.
    if anything, this house is a perfect caricature of how poor people think the 1% lives in brazil. really enjoyed the video!

      I agree with you, even if I had this amount of money I would still not buy this house

      The tall ceiling and exaggerated wide space with huge glass walls actually gives me the creeps. Has no sense of comfort or privacy whatsoever.
      Even being low to medium income myself I would never buy this house in a million years. It's unpractical and nobody needs the comical megalomania this property offers. I don't get it who would need so much space and unnecessary features. The master bedroom was just the cherry on top, I actually laughed at the rotating TV and the unpracticality of having a jacuzzi inside your bedroom.
      I'd take a nice, cozy wooden house with a fireplace and many more bookshelves and a larger garden in the woods over this any day.

    Nah nah, that's way too expensive! I wouldn't buy it even if it came with a free yacht, it's such a rip-off. You can literally find mansions in fancier and safer parts of Rio, like Barra da Tijuca and Recreio, in gated communities, that cost like 10 million reais max, which is like 1.7 million dollars and they're way bigger, with 4 floors and elevators! Anyway, thanks for letting us know about the crazy house prices down south. It's always good to know.

    The house looks so sterile. The only room with any color in it is the kids' playroom. The person that buys that house has awful taste, not to mention that all the postmodernist decoration will be out of style within a couple decades. I would say that this is Brazil's version of a McMansion, where you have a needlessly big house with too many bedrooms and bathrooms on a postage stamp of land. It reminds me of growing up in an expensive suburb of Washington, DC with a lot of houses that were built, torn down, built up again, torn down again and a new house built yet again all within the span of two decades. In the USA, a similar house would only be around $3 million and not $4 million, so it's a bad deal too.

    What shocks me the most is having the bathroom combined with the bedroom lol. The amount of condensation and humidity would drive me nuts.

    • @nordicinvestor
      @nordicinvestor  8 днів тому +1

      I agree with you that having the bathroom in the bedroom is not practical at all

    • @anndremendanha7847

      Having a bathroom in the bedroom is the best thing in the world, our bathrooms and buildings are already prepared for humidity, so this problem doesn't exist, leaving and entering the bathroom straight to the bedroom or bed, especially in winter, is great.

    Also I’m sure condominium is super expensive! But this house is beautiful! Does it come fully furnished? With everything you see? Since its surrounded by water is it susceptible to flooding? I can see splitting up costs for 2/3 owners. It would be great vrbo.

    • @nordicinvestor
      @nordicinvestor  8 днів тому +2

      The property comes with most of the furniture, the buyer and seller will need to negotiate what stays. This area was not affected by the big flood back in May this year but it can never be ruled out.

    How much is the taxes, HOA fees???

    • @nordicinvestor
      @nordicinvestor  8 днів тому +3

      Property transaction tax when you buy a property is 3% in rio grande do sul, HOA fees are about $500 per month and annual property tax (IPTU) is about $200 per month

    It must suck to live in a house like this, it has no life. Great for wannabe milionaires and influencers to rent on airbnb tho.
