  • If was a simple fix, just required some looking around and trouble shooting to find the problem. Thanks to OTOFIX D1 I knew exactly which area to look for the problem.

I just had those three lights, and the main check engine light come on. It also created erratic stopping and accelerating/shifting behavior. I was busy and thought I'd just take it to a local Sprinter shop. Bad choice. They told me, after scanning it with Xentry, that it was the ABS module and Left Wheel Sensor and the cost was going to be nearly $6000 to replace the ABS module. I decided to take the van home and sit on it. So, I read up on it and found one guy saying pull the sensor and clean it off and vacuum and clean the hole out. Guess what? just pulling the sensor, cleaning it off and vacuuming and cleaning the hole out did the trick. You don't even have to lift the van and don't have to pull the tire in the front. Just turn it hard over to access the sensor.

Just so you know there’s an open campaign thru Mercedes for the rear wheel speed sensors failing on NCV sprinters, 2014-2018. I know you probably would never bring your van into a dealer because of the delete, but if you did, that sensor brand new + install would probably be free. 💡

Yea that's why I'm still without cruise control. I installed the unit but dealer needs to program it. And I don't want them updating anything otherwise they will have to rewrite everything and my delete will be worthless.

Hey, I’m loving your vids and looking to get a van soon! This is not related to this video directly...
I’ve spent a couple years saving and thinking about the expediting life. I have $35k budget to purchase a used van. I’m really wanting a second generation extended sprinter for a lot of the reasons you state, but am weary of buying used diesels with unknown history because I assume no one would want to sell a reliable diesel van. I am a confident DIY guy, and plan to do most of my own maintenance.
Did you buy new or used?
Is there an age cutoff I should not be looking at to buy? For example, if I start as O/O under a carrier, will I be limited in who will hire me if I purchase say a 2014 compared to 2018 or newer? Assuming equal mechanical reliability.
I just hear so many mixed reviews so I want to hear from you, someone who actually runs an older sprinter with higher miles now
Looking forward to hearing back from you.

I would focus more on low mileage but also keep the vehicle under 10 yrs or age. I bought mine used. Don't think it's worth buying new... Used is half the price, and after a year of owning a new one ull put 120k to 150k miles on it and it will be worth half of what u paid for it new. That's my take.

And what is the little bold light on the button right corner?

    • @Eagle-Xpress
      @Eagle-Xpress  Місяць тому

its a light code. sprinters are known for that when youre using LED bulbs either inside or outside or LED tail light bulbs.

I just test drove a 2012 Mercedes Sprinter 3.0L Diesel 3500 dually...no lights...drove about 10 miles...right before I got back those exact lights came on all of a sudden...when I parked I shut it off, then restarted...lights came back on, as well as the check engine light...the owner/seller said he'd have it looked at and get back with me...hopefully this video will help with the diagnosis...still not sure why the check engine light came on after the other lights came on...would the check engine light be a standard warning after the ABS/traction light are triggered?

Mine went away for good and to this day I have zero issues after this fix.

@@Eagle-XpressGood news...my situation ended up being the ABS sensor...the seller is currently having it replaced at a MB dealership and I'll hopefully be picking the van up soon...2012 Sprinter 3500 dually, high roof, 170", 96k miles...from original wealthy owner who purchased new for random personal transporting...he replaced with brand one cuz he wanted to get rid of it before it hit 100k miles🤓...I can't wait!😬

Ummmm sir I'm quite sure that is a "check engine" indicator, you might not wanna keep ignoring that!

@@Eagle-Xpresshey Andre, I suggest you take a look at that engine light. That light always indicates something is going wrong.

I would have soldered those wires once they were twisted together, then use watertight heat shrink tubing to seal it from the weather.
