Without a doubt, the Tolzer boys are the most disciplined and talented of all boys
choirs. Have been to many of their concerts and have never been disappointed. In
Los Angeles, in Decembero of 2011, they gave an outstanding performance of
Bach's Weihnachts Oratorium, what a pleasure it was to see them perform.
Their little faces! All of them are so adorable! Children's voices are amazing!
What a pleasure to watch Professor Gerhard Schmidt-Gaden who is one of the most accomplished voice/choir teachers in the history of music. These boys are excelling in a very demanding musical performance. Also notice, the pianist is setting the tempo and pace markings perfectly for the young performers. Thank you Toelzerfanclever this video is a classic example of training and performance perfection.

I really appreciate the chance to see recent, very recent, Toelzer concerts. I also appreciate that the cameraman got such good shots of the Knaben and Conductor Schmidt-Gaden. I love to see Herr Schmidt-Gaden conduct. There is a lot of talent in Toelzerland.

I am glad you caught the performance. I love the "Magic Flute." It was a joy to watch.
you can see the excitement while performing their solo-parts and of course they are proud of it. and consider it's not easy standing on this stage and being a young child.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. The recording of video and audio are great. The voices of Tolzer is excellent and good performance. This is the time I have seen the boys smile a lot, it is impressive to the audiences.

Thank you for this excellent update of the Tölzer Knabenchor. It's very interesting to compare this group with the one in Graz in 2000 and with the Harnoncourt DVD of JSB's Johannes Passion. Such a concentration of talent year after year! And nowadays discipline being so difficult to impose but as essential to a choir as in the days of glorious JSB and wonderful WAM. Again Tausend Danke
when i was younger i hated this kind of music.i am 17(i am very young now too) but i started to listen classic music and i have became crazy about it!

After the performances of all soloists the applause was "allowed"...
That concert was on Sunday evening and ended at 10 pm. The next morning all the poor kids had to get up early cause they had to go to school...:) Therefore all the applauses had to be "reduced".

+cescamasam The current Toelzer boy soloists - for example - are cast in two opera houses of Berlin with the roles of Mozart´s "Three Boys". Beginning in March 2016 they will be cast in Haendel´s opera "Alcina" in Dresden (Semperoper).

Now these are real kids. They are nervous and uncertain on stage but with voice quality of top chouristers. I never understood how the Libera boys do it. They always looked so calm and confident on stage.

Delightful! Magical boy aria - from a magical boy.
Libera sing their concerts live, there have been lip-synced TV performances but I think it comes down to the limits of some TV studios rather than the boys' skill. After all, they also perform live frequently.
Their soloists look often nervous too (very normal obviously), and seems like the ability to control one's voice when nervous then comes down to skill and experience. What I find remarkable about this video is the very solid sound that these boys produce despite of clearly being nervous.

@Toelzerfanclever Thank you, would love to watch your friend's super videos as well, and please tell the boys in your this video that it is a blessing from the Most High to receive talent of music and music education, most of the governments in underdeveloped countries are not interested to support this beautiful kind of education or occupation, anyway, I believe that if your boys keep singing and you keep uploading the videos, someday our governments will understand what is the most powerful

My friend Toelzzerfanclever, thanks for this SUPER video. I love Magic Flute and Tolzer are singing wonderfully. As I remember, I rated this video super at wskfan's channel. The 3 knaben are singing well, are these boys going to be there in July of this year?
The boy to the right in the first trio (at 2.46 for example) could be a double for former Libera resident James Mordaunt. Yes the Libera boys are generally very well polished. I am looking forward to their next english concert in May

Perhaps at the end of July 2012 any TV-station (ORF 2, Arte, 3Sat ?) will send a live broadcasting of the current performance of Mozart´s "Magic Flute" in Salzburg/Austria - of course with Toelzer boys in the role of the "Three Boys" ...:)

That may be. But it seeme to me that he looks pretty proud when Prof. Schmidt-Gaden shakes his had immediately after his performance. I wonder if singing Pamina isn't one of the most honored roles in the chor? I really enjoy the boys' unrehearsed and uninhibited expressions. I especially like the grin on the boy on the right in the first set of boys Was he a Pamina also?
Andi was really good in this video, & the lone soloist at the beginning, who is he? He was pretty good too. But really, all the Tolzer are great. I t would be great to see them live in concert like I,ve seen the WSK;maybe someday? A fan always, sehr schon Tolzer

was able to awake our interest for classic music...:)

Since I don't see this actually answered, the boy's name is Jörg Lehne. I hope you are still here after 7 years. He seemed to be friends with Andreas Mörwald, the short haired blond boy you see in this video. When the boys take their bows, Andreas runs up to Jörg and says quite a few things to him. Both were quite a bit older than they looked. I think Andreas was already 15 years old. Perhaps Andreas was telling him that this was his last concert, because there was a video of the parents day a little later than this video where Andreas comes down from the risers and accepts his certificate indicating that he was retiring. I first saw the two of them standing next to each other in a video of them singing the Bach motets around four years earlier, and the same chatting from Andreas occurs there too.

@52sport6469 No, not Pamina. This phrase "Ihr holden Kleinen sagt mir an, ob ich Paminen retten kann?" is sung by Tamino (who of course usually is a tenor).

Beim Filmen hatte ich das Piano direkt vor mir links neben dem Chor. Ich denke, dass die
"unsensible" Lautstärke darauf zurückzuführen ist.

They were pretty good. If I was a parent I would have been banging my palms together, too. They deserved better sound recording and more than one camera, but I still felt they didn't quite get the brilliant explosions of sound in Pamina's song that this choirmaster tried to get them towards, and which he has achieved with other groups in previous years.

I regularly check out those channels I can assure you. I presume it was Leopold that sang in the "one person per part" version of the Christmas Oratorio in the Moabit section of Berlin a year ago that has been posted?

Are you sure that Libera´s boys always are singing live ? For me (!) it seems that often sound engineering ist very important for the results (?).
By the way: There are many videos at my channel where the Tolzer boys are singing "calm and confident"...:) You should watch at least the two last ones....
A search on Bach Moabit will show all 4 uploads, Leopold is only on two though -- warning -- it's a very blurry cell phone(handy?) video -- just listen! You really can't see faces very well -- thus my question!

In spite of the sound track having wrongly recorded the hammering piano and not the singers (!) it´s easy to recognize real talent, mostly among the the last quartett. And with the "Pamina" boy something great for future has arrived. His voice and also his cool, natural appearance is very like Alexander Lischke´s when he turned up! This one seems like 11 yo now and should have at least 2 years to better his lung volume and also d-a-r-e to let lose his full capacity. What´s his name?
