- Created in Unreal engine, Star Trek the Motion Picture's U.S.S. Enterprise refit is showcased in dry dock over Earth orbit. Model credits as follows: U.S.S. Enterprise by A.Klemm . Dry Dock and Travel Pod by David Metlesits. Worker Bee and Cargo Train by Raul Mamoru. "The Enterprise" Composed by Jerry Goldsmith. Compositing and production by Mannymixx
Still the most beautiful ship in all of science-fiction.
could have used more detail in the parts that got attached like that piece that got put on the bottom of the saucer instead of putting it over an empty hole
I like the venator more but that's me
@@Chris-uy5ne , absolutely. Can't find a bad shot of her. Perfectly proportioned.
The most iconic!👍
Amen
The musical score is one of humanity's greatest works in my opinion...
Jerry Goldsmith’s Best Work - written over a Weekend !!
And nicely fitted sync'ed to the graphics too
Could not agree more!!
The Musical Piece is just as awesome as the Enterprise herself.
Jerry Goldsmith always had great orchestrated music for movies.
Love his Rambo soundtracks :)
The Refit look of the Enterprise combined with Jerry Goldsmith's Enterprise theme is pure magic, its no wonder Kirk wanted her back
remember the scene where mccoy tells kirk....get back your command before you really urn into one these relics....elsewhere Spick said to jim command of the Enterprise...is your first best destiny!
Yes I can see why it took 18 months for her refit; was worth the wait.
Remember over the course of time Kirk has been told more than once being in command of the starship is his first best destiny! Dr McCoy told him get your command back before you really do turn into a fossil.
of all the ships named enterprise this will always be my favorite one. this is my enterprise .
Your hard work is noticed! This brought tears to my eyes, it is absolutely beautiful!
Five decades ago when I was 3 or 4, I slept in the living room (our flat was small and I had no bedroom) and watched the midnight reruns of the Star Trek series. I've been a Trekkie ever since and though I like TNG and DS9, I feel "at home" the most with the Original Star Trek.
The Enterprise NCC-1701 Constitution Class is THE STARSHIP to me; the first one that instantly comes to mind whenever I hear the word "starship."
Great detail and music here, thanks for posting this!!
In spite of all the faults in TMP, this music and the Enterprise reveal still stirs me.
Jerry Goldsmith’s iconic masterpiece score! Emotionally brilliant and grandiose.
Every version of the Enterprise has always had graceful lines. But I think this version is the best. The original is iconic, of course.
Not every version the JJ verse Enterprise is an ABOMINATION!
@@bush1701 your opinion
@@bush1701 I have to disagree, I quite like the design of the refit in beyond despite how short it lived
Meanwhile, Admiral Kirk is stuck behind a desk waiting for any opportunity to get the Enterprise back.
This music will never cease to give me goosebumps!
Still my favorite Star trek movie wonderfully done
Awesome job! Nevermind the complainers there's always someone to tell someone else what they should have done.
This was beautifully done. I can't imagine the work that went into it or how long it must have taken to make. Definitely worth the effort. Goldsmith's "The Enterprise" score is one of the best scores I've ever heard. I could never get tired of listening to it. Such utter beauty.
At 2:21 I'm picturing Scotty in the travel pod "Slow down lads! How many times do I have to tell ya, don't damage the lass!"
😅
For me, the BEST version of the U.S.S. Enterprise, with a wonderful score.
You've really captured the size of the enterprise here. Superb camera work.
It still irritates me that THIS Starship Enterprise had no rearward firing Photon Torpedo Tubes.
LOL, I can understand how you feel, but on the positive side. Photon Torpedoes are only guided missiles so they are steerable. If she needed to fire behind her, she only needs to fire and the torpedoes will come around to the rear and beyond. Not efficient or elegant but it's doable. I can live with it.
I grew up watching the original series with my parents, loved it, even more than "Lost in Space". As an adult I couldn't wait for "The Motion Picture." Some people really didn't like it. I thought it was FANTASTIC ! I watched it over & over again on video tape. Even with it's flaws it will ALWAYS be my favorite "Trek" film. Thank you for making this video. I think of it as "unused footage" from TMP.
I'm with you! I love TMP. I wish more of Star Trek followed it's template.
I don't know why people hate it so much. I didn't think it was that bad. In my opinion, Star Trek 5 was the worst one, and even it was kinda okay. Wrath of Khan will always be my favorite though, even through the next generation films and the JJ Abrams films.
loved lost in space until "judy" arrived. also loved the enterprise reveal when kirk and party went to enterprise for inspection.
To 1977: 😮🌟 👣 is 👌 .and are best in each special way. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊😊😊
the big show that i liked was the reveal shot of the enterprise in space dock. that was done deliberately as in the movie timeline it had been 2 years , and the big e hadn't been seen in quite a few years. the reveal shot was also designed to draw in new fans . still wows me till this day.
I tear up every time I see the Enterprise refit movie scene or videos. Jerry Goldsmith's music is perfect for your video, thank you!
That was great. Thankyou! 🙂For those who have the alternate version of "The Enterprise" composed by Jerry Goldsmith and featured on the complete score of the soundtrack, play it along side this video. It works great.☺🙃
The sheer majesty!!! The wonder of exploration!!! The most beautiful of all the Starships!!
Fantastic!!! I love EVERYTHING about this. Hull details and colours, the worker bees, pieces being brought into place… wow. Stupidly impressed. Also a very nice touch at the end (which I was expecting) lol, of Capt Kirk and Scotty docking. Imagine if the creators of TMP had access to this technology and what the movie would’ve looked like.
Edit: I meant to say Admiral Kirk and Scotty. 😉
Inspite of what some people say about it the Constitution Refit Class is a beautiful design and a great tribute to one of the greatest ship in the history of Starfleet.
I like the A a touch more, but the Connie Refit is genuinely amazing.
Plus the A feels like the logical progression of 'well let's take the refit and integrate that further' evolution of the Connie.
The lady served with distinction and pride. She earned this several times over.
I love the concept of what you did here and i love what you did with the deflector dish. But i have one point of criticism. All the parts you have placed on the ship has only flat surface or just nothing underneath. If you do another version i would take some time to add details like conduits, framework, latching mechanisms, and torpedo tubes. Everything else is perfect.
I agree with all of that…the texturing and detail are exquisite….but the warp nacelles were my one issue…I’m fine with them nearly fully built and moved into place, but I would have one am where not all of the plating is on where it connects to the ship.these things push the craft at light speed and have massive amounts of power running to them…exposed conduits and latching points would make it look super
While I agree with the statements that have already been made, you hear that music and you see that ship, does it for me every time!
I was about to write the same thing...
That's what I was thinking. Especially when they attach the ventral sensor dome, the three prongs (sensor units/lights) seem to sink into solid hull. There wasn't any detailing to see how it attaches.
Hahaha... yeah it was the torpedo tubes for me. Immediately was like "wait... so where are the torpedoes supposed to come from"
This design from the 1970's is in a different league when compared to the latest design creations. Many of which are frankly overly styled & outright ugly. Not to mention out of scale too.
Starfleet wasn't kidding about a complete refit of the Enterprise.
She truly has earned it.
Alright alright!! Nice one! Excellent editing and TERRIFIC timing. You played to this song just right. You actually improved on what is already a classic, and that is very difficult. I might have wished that u moved a little more slowly through some of the sequences ( why rush? It’s our favorite ship and music, and we have plenty of both!) Also I might have liked to see an engineer in a space suit, outside the Workbee, but that’s a whole other set of rigging challenges. But these are nitpicks. You’re a talented artist and a skillful animator and filmmaker. Thank you for this!
EXCELLENT!
The motion was my introduction to Star Trek 36 years ago when I was 5. I had put my fathers VHS tape of the first 3 movies and a documentary by Leanord Nimoy in the VCR. Because I had to see the first 3 before seeing Star Trek IV. I started to lose interest in the Motion Picture until they showed the Refit-Enterprise, and I fell in love with it. To this day, no ship is as beautiful as the Refit-Enterprise/Enterprise-A.
At 0:54 I can only imagine construction being held up by worker with OCD. "HEY JACK!! STOP WASTING TIME... IT IS ONLY OFF BY 3cm. NO ONE IS GOING TO NOTICE!" "I WILL NOTICE BOB... EVERY TIME I CLOSE MY EYES.... IT MOST BE EVEN WITH THE OTHER ONE. IT MUST BE EVEN...." 😂😂
🖖😎👍Very cool in every way shape and form and very well executed and well done in every detail provided indeed, Very great work and excellent job well done indeed of this grand lady, And let's make sure history never forgets the name Enterprise!...
I wish the TOS movies had been consistent and used this music as the main title theme in all six films.
Well done! Your unique choice of angles really gave a sense of scale that we have not seen before. Great animation. Kudos!
Not to mention seeing a person moving around inside the officer's lounge. Helps a lot with scale as well.
I miss the nacelles on Kirk's ship. Those orange glowing beacons seemed to radiate power to me; you could see something rotating beneath the "glass" that seemed awesome to me. Now, it's just kind of a vent. Flat in both senses of the word.
Best looking Enterprise of all.
Not the biggest fan of pieces of the ship clipping with each other. Still a cool video.
Incredible work 👏 . I'd love to see a video series covering the entire refit. Covering the ship from her skeleton and stage by stage for the 18 months of her rebuild. That would be bad to the bone.
I love this shoutout to TMP. My favorite Star Trek film.
This is simply stunning! A thing of beauty! And the music fits it perfectly.
The Enterprise was first captained by Captain April after it was first built. It then had a major refit before being taken over by Captain Pike. It then had a major refit before being taken over by Captain Kirk. Then it had another major refit after Captain Kirk's first five years as captain. The enterprise was 15 years old when this refit was done.
Each refit modified the Enterprise using technology that had been discovered and reversed engineered by all of Star Fleet's exploratory vessels. The warp engine systems took up a large part of the engineering hull for most of its life but the Enterprise meet aliens who showed Scotty the plans for a warp engine the size of a walnut. He did not get enough information to actually make that work but he did get enough to get the newer and much much smaller warp core that was show on this third refit.
Actually, the Enterprise was 25 years old when this Refit was completed.
I'm not entirely certain why, or if there even *_is_* a "why", but my favorite between the original Constitution and Constitution Refit classes is the Constitution _Refit._ I don't honestly remember, but I _think_ I'd seen some episodes of ST:TOS before having gone to watch ST:TMP. Nevertheless, TMP had a _massive_ impact on me, visually, and I think that upgrade was a LOT better than it was ever depicted as being.
fascinating recreation!!The Enterprise looks magnificent !!
Admiral Kirk: Thank you Mr Scott.
I always go by the scale of the original series instead of the 1977 movie, "Star Trek The Motion Picture." Everyone who saw the movie back then all said the same thing and that they got the scale all wrong. If you look at your video and see the people, they should be a quarter of that size. Now I am not saying that really tall people can't serve aboard the Enterprise but I don't think that was the intention. Another issue is with Lost in Space. There is no room for the lower deck. However, if they had just made the interior smaller and the cast, then they could account for the shuttle pod, Chariot, and all of the equipment necessary to operate the ship. Maybe I'm being too critical all the way around? To be honest, I can't stand what they did with the TV series "Discovery." There are scenes of an elevator and it goes into a huge vast empty interior of the ship that just makes no sense.
She IS beautiful. One of the greatest of all sci-fi spaceships. BUT, The Enterprise D, aka, The Big D, is THE absolute greatest starship to bear the name Enterprise. Her reveal in Star Trek Picard was, simply put, INCREDIBLE! To see the D fly again, got me choked up.
But, it all started here, with the Constitution Class Enterprise Refit. If not for this ship, and her reveal in The Motion Picture (my favorite Star Trek movie), we would not have the mighty D to love and cherish! The Enterprise has always been the best of the Fleet!
The most Beautiful of all the starships..Perfectly proportioned. If only she were real, that's where I'd be.
" Second Star To The Right, and Straight On Till Morning"
This look s very much like a computer game cut sceen. If created all this yourself, well FUCKING done.
Why does everybody make the impulse deflection Crystal blue? If you look at Reliants before the phaser hits it it's white, when the Enterprise is entering , and backing out of Space Dock in Star Trek III it's glowing white... It's also white on the 1701-A when they show the top of the saucer while the burn is scorching the hull after the torpedo hit from the Bird of Prey in Star Trek 6.... yet for some reason everyone makes it blue when it should be white
Excellent work! It was very nice to see people and things behind some of the windows/portholes. As others have said, adding detailswhere things connect would be a great addition.
The REFIT Enterprise...the most beautiful of ALL Federation star ships seen on film and screen.
I miss Uhura, Scotty, Bones, Chekov, Sulu, Spock and Kirk as portrayed by the original actors aboard the Refit NCC - 1701.
Try as they might, there will never be another Star Trek.
Holy moly! this is freaking amazing, its stunning and i so well done 👍👍 this is my all time favourite Enterprise and this is doing it justice, i turned the voloume a really load on my headphones and now im deaf lol.
I miss this ship so very much.
Very nice, I dig it a whole lot !! 😎👍
hmm... if your animating the building of a "life sized model" fantastic;
if your tying to animate the 'construction' of a "real" ship... it needs a little work.
2:45
Craft 1: I've got it
Craft 1: OK I'm ready can you give it to me please
1: Here you go
Delicate ballet of engineering.
NCC-1701-C will go down in history as the Icon..
Captain James T. Kirk Commanding
Beautiful animation, though lacking in details that one would expect if it were real. And I've got to say - there's no way it could have been assembled like this!
I always wondered why they didnt just have giant mass replicators to make starships.
If a civilization could make starships at the press of a button or by speaking a command, they wouldn’t need to.
As the video started, I felt annoyed saying "not right". But in 10 seconds my sense of wonder was awakened. I felt as if we were truly watching Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott's presentation to Starfleet on his proposed refit of Enterprise ("A keyboard, how quaint.") Thank you for restoring my sense of optimism.
The only critique worthy thing about this is the geometry clipping of the parts being put into place and no sort of welding or fastening going on.
But otherwise beautifully made.
Excellent. It was hard enough for astronauts to repair the Hubble telescope. Assembling a starship would probably be a lot harder. Each hull plate would probably have to snap together like Legos and self seal. Maybe fly to assemble something like Tony Stark's middle version Ironman suit components.
I’ve always said Star Trek has the most beautiful looking ships I’m personally a fan of the big D but every single ship in Star Trek has never ceased to impress me
Wow that was great to watch. I saw this movie in the theater around Christmas time, 1979. Your animation really pays tribute to the Starship Enterprise.
Breathtaking work.
I still can't see how this was a refit to the TV series Enterprise. Other than the general shape, every section is drastically different. It's the ship of Theseus paradox at its final conclusion, only instead of replacing a small part one at a time, they basically built a new ship and gave it the same registry. That's why I like what they did for the next generation films. They destroyed the D and brought them back in the E with the same crew.
Actually this was not just a refit but a complete redesign of the entire Constitution class USS Enterprise. In fact if you go by what they said in the Lost years novels, specifically in the second one a flag full of stars, they had to disconnect the saucer and fly it down to the San Francisco Navy Yard, so that they have a normal gravity environment to work on the saucer.
Very awesome Video
But I do not think the parts of the Enterprise are just adhered
One thing I've noticed as I have gotten older, is the refit Enterprise is way smaller than I remember as a kid. When you think about it the Enterprise 1701 is not that big of a ship.
Still the best looking ship though
Words cant express just how great this was. I dont know how you are not part of a team that works on the Star Trek films. Yor really should be! You have quite the talent. Thank you for this, I really enjoyed it.
This was outstanding! Gave me the chills and shows the best of what Trek has to offer! Thank you so much for making this ❤
Does anyone remember when admiral McCoy came aboard the Enterprise D he told data this ship has the right name be good to her and she will always bring you home! The one the only Enterprise. She is much a character in Star Trek as the rest of the characters.
the best looking ship in all scifi
even in the star trek universe
#
Incredible video.
This is just stunning! The attention to detail, the way the shuttles bring each piece to weld onto the Enterprise and the use of the original score make this perfect! Great job. Wish the studio had access to this kind of technology when they made Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
Animation is pretty crappy tho.
Damn! that one just got you a new subscriber! 👍 amazing job. truly beautiful work.
One of the All Time , grandest ladies to Grace any screen to be seen on. Bravo for showcasing her in the proper fashion.
The A is truly a maser piece and this video is star trek porn.
Very nice. Love the people walking around inside. I wish the original designers had done scaling better though.
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
This was before the events of "The Motion Picture".
You have created a masterpiece combining the original music with a an amazing render so very well done.
Good job, Manny!
Superb! Thanks for uploading this. 😃
How does this channel only have 36 (37!) subs???
OMG!
This is an amazing episode of "Star Trek: How it's MADE!"
I just hope we keep getting more!!!!!
Great job visually. I won't nitpick the various engineering aspects of assembling the ship.
"They gave her back to me, Scotty."
"Gave her back, sir? I doubt it was that easy with Nogura."
You're right. She'll be ready, sir
Who says "You can't be in love a thing?"
The Refit Enterprise is beautiful.
She still amazes. Gorgeous.
Amazing. And I love how you end with what appears to be Scotty and Kirk's pod arriving.
Imagine if they can really build one ?
I can imagine all the self sealing stem bolts activating as the components are being attached. I did a physical model refit of the Discovery Enterprise kit and the NX-01 RE-REFIT if you want to check it out. ua-cam.com/video/vIL0hfSfh9c/v-deo.html. ua-cam.com/video/YAZ2AtRpscQ/v-deo.html
This is the very first time I'm seeing "Kirk's Enterprise" get a major upgrade in its refit. If only The Original Series continued to show something like this being done. Because I'm only familiar with the series' version of the Enterprise and not the movie. Without context to bridge them together like this i would have thought "#NotMyEnterprise".
With modeling skills like that you can build open connective mounts, power conduits and panel locking fixtures. This was a modeling/animation done halfway.
Man,
I have the original soundtrack on Long Play ( Vinil Disc) from this movie!!
I love STAR TREK since I was 9 years old and I think one of the most serious Sci-Fi TV series of all times!!!
I prefer the retrofit than ncc-1701 A
I'm kinda late to this. I can say the Starship Enterprise ncc1701 took inspiration from a surviving wwi battleship. BB35 USS Texas. She too went under a transformative refit. She converted from Coal to Oil, she was stripped of the Birdcage Masks to the Triple Mast superstructure. The new radar system introduced in the US fleet Anti aircraft. By Dec 7, 1941 she was not the same ship as she was in 1914 when she first touch water.
Stunning! Amazing attention to detail!
