    It would be great if you could create a video on installing gns3 and configuring a few nxos switches and getting that connected to nsx-t.

    Do you plan on adding a Linux box for NFS and ISCSI? You could also do Trunas for a shared storage solution.

      I actually just installed a Synology NAS box which I'm using for NFS! It's been awesome so far, but I need to add some additional disk.

    I need your help as I didn't know how to make that VMs which I created inside ESXI nested communicate with outside VLAN. for example, I have VMs created in the physical ESXi host with VLAN ID 4 and other VMs inside ESXI nested have the same network and VLAN id 4, but never communicate with each other. I believe that you will respond and help me out with this issue. Note, I do this senior in a production environment
    Thank you for such an amazing video,

    Hello There. Thank you for the video. Really Informative. The place where you configure the management network for the VLAN option i have not seen you typing 254 as your management VLAN was that done at the background? Thank you

    • @NRDYTech
      @NRDYTech  2 роки тому +1

      Good observation! The reason I didn't is that VLAN 254 is my "native" VLAN on my Juniper switch. This means that traffic received/sent out this switch with no VLAN tag configured is by default - VLAN 254. So the reason I don't mark a VLAN ID on my host, is that my native VLAN is 254, so since I've not configured a VLAN..my host automatically is on VLAN 254. If you have not configured a specific native VLAN, you will want to specify a VLAN ID on your ESXi host for management!

    Hello, i had a quick question, I am using a old gaming pc. It has a 7th gen i5 cpu, with 32gb or ddr4 ram. I got a 256 ssd to install esxi on it, and a 4tb segate HDD for vcenter, vrni, and nsx-t 3.2. Even though it isn't a server, is it possible to run a 4 host nested environment with nsx-t on the quad core cpu?

    • @NRDYTech
      @NRDYTech  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Aaron. I think you've got plenty of storage, but you're a little light on CPU and RAM. NSX-T Manager is a CPU hog - it will easily take that entire CPU (at least while booting). I usually recommend people deploy the Medium form factor, which is 24Gb of RAM for the manager itself, plus another 12Gb for vCenter - and at least 8Gb for each nested ESXi host. You can see from those numbers - you're probably looking at closer to 64Gb of RAM to run 4x nested hosts, vCenter, and NSX-T Manager. You can definitely limit the CPU on NSX-T Manager, and I can attest it won't take all 24Gb, but I do suspect your box will be screaming at you with all that stuff :) If it was me, I'd use that 32Gb box as my vcenter/nested ESXi box, and then build a second 64Gb box to use for NSX-T + whatever else I felt like. Just my $.02.
