I'm just starting to be a minimalist but it has already an impact on my life. Its giving me the power to let go of the things that I don't really need not just physical stuff but in general. Subsequently, I'm having more time, more space, more money, more energy because
there is a lot things that I have given up. Having less makes me more peaceful. I'm probably gonna continue until the rest of my life. 😊

Minimalism is something that i have only recently discovered in the last month or two and i am already feeling the benefits of it. i have a long way to go but i have been going crazy with getting rid of my things. most of my clothes are gone, i have downsized my books, i know exactly what furniture i don't want anymore (that's going to take a while to get rid of on my own), and i am currently going through my collections. My only road block really is my partner. he is very attached to his things, especially his collections, and is very reluctant to take the first step when he comes home on the weekends. im not asking him to get rid of all his stuff but just to go through it and really think about what is important to him because i cant do it for him. im just sick of living in constant mess and clutter because of him. i don't think he understands the impact it is actually having on me and our relationship.

You are a very caring person. I find that a core attribute of many, I'm not a minimalist I have stuff. I brought storage containers to put my stuff in them. Today I just brought 2 more containers. I have no ties or commitments. l was a triathlon champion until I last remember. I became ill and lost so much of my life. I've always been my own man. Went to Mexico to have some extensive dental work done. Only took 6 months. Most of my attention has been on my health and recovery for the last 7 years. Packing all these containers has truly made me think about my life. I think a change is coming. Love the way you think. I believe it's possible to learn from others I may have just stumble on to a new direction. Thanks for something very new to me.

I embraced being a minimalist awhile ago. I love this lifestyle and I have more $$ in the bank that I can use if something comes up , not a credit card.

Game Changer... that’s the best description. Recent minimalist convert and its absolutely amazing how much it changes your life. Letting go of the constructs idea of the things you think your supposed to have has been.... a game changer. Thanks for the great videos!

I've myself have been a minimalist for about 5 years now and I LOVE it. My journey is by far not over yet and I still working on optimizing all of the different parts of my life every day. It feels so great to not being attached to things anymore. My goal is to just have much as it fits into a VW bus and then travel around Europe.
I was already able to inspire some of my friends and family to declutter their appartments and houses and to think more about what to buy and not to buy, what to keep and not to keep, what makes them happy, what does not. I can only encourage those of you who are thinking about implementing some minimalism into their lives - not only regarding physical stuff, but also the "advanced" stuff like relationships, thoughts, where to put your energy or how to simplify thinks like food and daily routines. Just like Conni, I have always sooo many thoughts and processes going on in my head and minimalism helps me to stay sane and in control of everything - well, at least it gives me the feeling of it ;) Being a minimalist just feels GREAT! Less is definitely more and better :) Thank you for this wonderful video, Conni :)

Love the fact you have one necklace and wrist band which is what I wear. Until I first heard about minimalism from an old college friend who currently has a very large family, I always thought my resistance to accumulating stuff was an example of my refusal to commit to something. Approaching our 25th anniversary, my wife and I have come a long way from arguing about what to keep. I have since realized that I have been a minimalist for most of my life. I've always sorted through things and regretted throwing stuff out without at least taking pictures or scanning them. I've thrown out stuff that could have been scanned but didn't have the technology to do so then. Now I can only rely on a memory like a grade 9 poetry project that eventually led me to start writing poetry shortly after. The memory of the drawings I made for it and it's source material still remain with me. Love what you're doing Connie.

    Hi Conni,
I've been in love with minimalism for several months now and it's a sensational discovery for me as well. Currently, almost done with declutering of physical clutter, I feel much lighter and happier with less. My attachment to things I still have is much weaker and it's really fantastic, purifying feeling. I'm now trying to implement minimalism in other than material areas like emotions, relationships and work / productivity. Having family and kids this part is more complicated, but I'm really optimistic for the future. Actually, I treat minimalism as a first step in my life transformation which I believe can make my life just better. I don't want to die so stressed and unhappy! Things like mindfulness, meditations, simply living, healthy food are strictly connected to each other in my opinion.
For me the most inspirational resources are:
    - Your videos in UA-cam. (Thank you Conni, you are doing a great job helping me and others!)
    - Zenhabits by Leo Babauta
    - "Goodbye, Things" by Fumio Sasaki
    Take care,
    Paweł

Thanks so much for sharing, Pawel!! I love hearing your experience and the steps you are taking! Minimalism also served as a kickstarter into an amazing life transformation for me.
So happy you enjoy my videos so much, means a lot!
Will have to check out Sasaki's book!
Have you listened to the podcast by the Minimalists? Great recommendation!

    • @goralus1
      @goralus1 5 років тому +1

      Hi Conni,
Sasaki is a bit extreme, but I really like his radical transformation described in the book. I've started my journey with minimalism with this book and I just had to mention it as my first personal inspiration.
The Minimalists are very nice guys, I watched their famous film and read one of the book and enjoyed the content. The director of the film (Matt D'Avella) is very popular and shares nice and funny movies on Yuotube.
On the other hand, they are all a bit “too American” for me. I prefer calmer mentality like Japanese or even Zen like Leo Babauta.

      Cheers,
      Paweł

    What a great Video.
So I am a minimalist too. I am not the best. But i am going to be better. And that's important to me. To improve myself everyday and see how i grow.
This lifestyle allows me to think about some stuff twice. To be more present and in the moment instead of constantly thinking about, what was in the past or what will be in the future.
    That's amazing 😍

I discovered minimalism late in my life. I'm in my 50s and I can relate with your experiences you've described here. I also get overwhelmed with thoughts and it seems to be getting worse for me. I must make a change and minimalism looks like a good way of life. I procrastinate too much. I also need to find an income replacement for my current (mentally toxic) job, but this is a huge challenge for me. I love the nomadic life but I need to work for my income, so this anchors me to some extent. My job does allow me to transfer every year so this is a 'positive'. I've been able to live all over the U.S., BUT I want to travel internationally. You're giving me some great ideas! I've been binge-watching your videos this morning. Thank You!!

Thank you! 🙂 I've been a street musician (apart from the gigs here and there etc) for 39 years, so never have been much of a non-minimalist anyway, but recently I taught myself to make my own bread, pizza etc, and now buy food very differently. For example , lots of flour and the huuuge bottles of olive oil instead of the tiny ones. I love listening to you, what beautiful voice, and you talk 100% sense. You're beautiful! 💜💜💜

Song written by Kris Kristofferson, "Me and Booby McGee", A posthumously released version by Janis Joplin topped the U.S. singles chart in 1971, making the song the second posthumously released No. 1 single in U.S. A line from the song says "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose", and the maker of this video, "Conni" was seeking "Freedom" = Minimalism.

Connie, I totally hear you. I feel I have civil war going on in my head and I get easily overwhelmed. Living with less and keeping organized helps me to feel inner piece. Having inner piece takes so much more than that but decluttering is my first step. Thank you for your channel.

Very happy to hear how this lifestyle give you so much freedom. It is great!.
Hmm.. I don't live a complicated material life to begin with. My first flat that I own contains enough furniture without me having to buying any. I happened to have relatives and friends to give away their used furniture that are still in such great conditions.
I only need to diy a coffee table and kitchen trolley! I thus feel v.grateful with what I have.
I definitely want my life to focus on less stuffs as well. So I am now constantly looking for tips and ways to stop bringing clutter and reduce waste in my life.
I am learning to live a life more focus on living than on things. Thank you! You are great! I cant be like you yet but your video does help me in my own journey!

Ok, will watch - despite liking frugalism (no collecting/buying usless junk - stuff you enjoy and use (for example: If you don't like sandwiches, you don't buy a sandwich-maker or you sell it if you have one) is fine however...I have a weakness for real books for example, I enjoy reading them more than say reading a PDF or other text document...I also couldn't live with only a laptop...I prefer my multi-screen (4 atm!) desktop computer, especially since I am a gamer!) more than minimalism. Especially since I don't own huge amounts of stuff anyway (all my belongings fit into my 24 square meter room after all!)

I don't care what I remember when I die. Maybe I forget everything long before I die. In fact, experiences shrink down to a photo or a story that I tell. I believe what the photo is showing me and I believe the story I'm telling myself, but the original experience is gone. All in all, hunting experiences is no different than hunting belongings.

      InspectorDreyfus I think I agree.
Life is seeing what needs to be done, and doing it. We each see different things that need doing therefore we each, in our unique way, contribute to society.
Life is about being of service rather than being in service.

Hey Conni, I like your personality and your videos very much and also I feel good with the thought of minimalism. But I discovered that in my flat I still need my various plants and colorful works of arts because they spread so much positive energy:)
But I would like to ask you one question, do you buy all your kindle books or do you use something like kindle unlimited or do you even consume "real" books like from a library or so? Because every time I want to purchase a book, I ask myself that question, digital or not?

To much stuff also causes me to have mental chaos. I am my version of minimalist which has way less than most but not as little as you. My home has only items that are needed and not much extra. This is hard on my husband because he wants stuff and never wants to part with anything...so, he has a shop for his shit!! hahahahaaa I run a tight ship in the house.
