Shelter is one of me absolute favourites. One of not many movies that show happy ending not only for the pair but also the fact of gay couple carrying for the boy being a better option than his straight parent. Such a strong ending!
Maurice is one of the best I'd say the best gay movie ever made ... with great actors, dynamic plot, complicated relations between personages... a superb psychological drama
Esteros is an Argentinian movie, actually! I can recommend other gay Argentinian movies with a happy ending such as Hawaii, Plan B and Otra historia de amor :)

But Maurice got a happy ending with a person named Alex who loved him the way he want. So if you ask me, is that a happy ending? UMM... is that a sad ending? HELL NO. 🤗💓
I've seen all of these but Morgan. All the rest are very good. Maurice is exceptional and Shelter is my favorite gay film. After watching 3 of these videos concerning Gay films with happy endings, I would definitely add Big Eden.

1. Geography Club: Cute and lightweight entertainment but not great and will make you smile. 2. Handsome Devil: I only want to watch gay romance movies and this one is definitely not one. A waste of time for me. 3. Just Friends: This is a good one, although I thought Yad, the dark haired dude wasn't good looking enough for Joris, he of the shaved head. Not a lot of sexual chemistry between them but still a pleasing story. 4. Esteros: A perfect little film. I've seen this one several times. Short, sweet and very rewarding. 5. Center of My World: Haven't seen this one yet so looking forward to it. 6. A gorgeous sweeping saga of two men who love each other against the backdrop of a very oppressive era in Merry Ole England. This movie does have a happy ending but not in the way you expect. Definitely a must-see. 7. Edge of Seventeen: I loved it when it first came out but now it just seems dated and kind of dumb. 8. Morgan: Though it looks like a movie made on a shoestring budget and the actors are not very good, it's still an uplifting flick and worth watching. 9. The Curiosity of Chance: This movie tries a little too hard to be gay, relevant and quirky but it ultimately misfires. 10. Love, love, LOVE Shelter!!! Again, obviously low-budget Indie but good acting and the two romantic leads are great together.
Maurice ( French pronunciation not Morris) was a beautiful film. A classic. Handsome actors. Merchant & Ivory. Great costumes and scenery. But wouldn’t call it a happy ending.
Yes I so agree. I really liked most of the movie. The ending was no way a happy one. So yeah agree it being a great movie but added to a list of happy ending films is questionable….
Well, for the time the movie was made, it was a pretty positive, even happy, ending. Not for Clive, of course, who caved into social pressure and got married. He always meant to be only platonic friends with Maurice... nothing more. Recall Maurice started falling in love/lust with the gameskeeper Alec Scudder. In the end, they go off together to be a couple.

@@shydreamguyman4098 when I subscribed to you I noticed you mention "Shelter" did not have a happy ending. How did it end in your country. Here the uncle was given the child to raise, him and the writer boyfriend. They moved together so he could attend the art school he had a scholarship years prior. And agree they should of at least been given notice at the Oscars if not won.
The description for Esteros is partially incorrect but it's still one of the best gay films I've ever seen. I highly recommend it👍. Also, North Sea Texas is another great gay film from 2011 that is worth a watch.
I didn't find, "Center of my World" a happy ending as the dark haired actor character was only in a relationship to take as much as he could and then throw things away. It was very uncomfortable to watch knowing there was no balance in the love one had for another. I wish they could have made a different ending
I would also recommend: Milk( autobiographical about Harvey Milk) Patrick 1.5 ( about accidently a 15 year old adolescent, named Patrick) Brokeback Mountain ( needs no introduction, sadly not a happy ending, nevertheless worth mentioning) Latter Days ( a Mormon missionary teenager meets an 'out-and- proud' life's enjoyable and...they have a connection with a happy ending) Jongens aka 'Boys' ( a Dutch coming of age movie, about two boys on a track team, with a romantic vibe, between them) Enjoy watching
Thanks for this but I'm really skeptical of many of these films having a happy ending based on the time they were made or time period they portray. the first two have a neutral ending, not a "happy ending". "Just Friends" and "Shelter" are the only two that have a true happy ending. The rest were mixed endings at best or down right sad at worse. I refuse to watch sad ending, gay trauma movies and always seek out and promote the happy ending films. It's hard enough being gay in this world, why relive sadness and trauma in the media we consume? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@TheRainbowsMood I can see Edge of Seventeen fitting into that, the main character was very happy with his future after all he went through. But I guess I see happy endings as boy meets boy, boy falls in love with boy, boy and boy have a happy life together.
Just Friends is not a comedy despite some light moments. It is one of the best gay films ever and Josh Stradowski has the finest arse of any man in Europe. Worth putting it on hold when it appears ( twice!).
Some of these I wouldn't consider a happy ending, but Shelter really is. Some other films would be Plan B, A Question of love, Beautiful Thing, Hidden Kisses, God's Own Country. These are all movies where the boy gets the boy which makes them true happy endings. One movie I love which is so romantic and spiritual but has a sad ending is Undertow. I almost forgot La Mission and Making the Yuletide Gay.
I love the homophobes getting their comeuppance in the one scene in which they appear in Just Friends. Date and Switch is a great film where a gay man comes out to his straight best friend whose only concern is that his gay friend will grow away from him but it does end happily.
