    I have a similar project going and it works good, used it late this winter during a power outage for 14 hours, "Off Grid Wood to Electricity Cogeneration System", I play with it and test the boiler using different engines and generators when I burn our garbage. Funny comments about blowing up and all from viewers that no doubt have not built or ever seen live steam. Good work, thanks for posting.

      I have the same kind of idea to take a old vintage wood and coal fired J.I Case steam locomotive type boiler and hook a generator to a vintage horizontal steam engine to it on a belt drive system but im looking for a electric motor like this but i need help looking for the right electric motor for this application and hook a belt pully to it and i need hooking it up the electric to my house off the generator to produce enough electric to power for my drinking running water and to pump water into the working boiler while producing its own electric for the house and i want the locomotive boiler to also use its own steam to heat my house and i was wondering if your willing to help me hook all the wiring up correctly to my house off a generator to go off grid to produce 240volts for my house

    Just curious honestly, but doesnt anyone ever just use an actual external combustion steam generator instead of these boilers? Im talking about Abner Doble steam generator design. Considering it only heats up a quart or 2 of water at a time producing 700-800 degrees of super heated steam with very little energy loss continually.

    • @somewhatobsessedwithgaming9862
      @somewhatobsessedwithgaming9862 6 років тому +7

      True that, but the biggest downfall of your mentioned king, "Water Tube" boilers, is that they depend on near constant loads. For Doble's steam car, the mechanics involved with oscillating the fire on and off as well as the water feed pump that were well tuned by the genius himself. Building one as an amateur or hobbyist is very difficult to do as well as maintaining constant pressure at all loads. To achieve a near constant pressure at all loads, especially in a rapidly accelerating locomotive, a "Fire Tube" boiler is used, where there is large amounts of super-heated water ready to turn into steam at a moments notice, and thus, there is no need for complicated controls should you immediately shut of the turbine or what have you, it has capacity, whereas the water tube doesn't. Comparably, its like a high voltage capacitor vs a lead acid battery. One charges efficiently and delivers sharp bursts, but needs special attention to maintain voltage, the other delivers lower voltage at a far more constant rate despite loading and charges more inefficiently. I hope this answers your question.

      I would suggest taking a look at Nikola Tesla’s improved combustion + steam turbine patents that patented in 1921, 10 years after the original turbine patent and about a decade of R&D.
      Everyone sleeps on the improvement patents and wonders why they can make their Tesla turbines work 🤭
      Tesla Turbine Patent List by Nikola Tesla US Patent 1,061,206 & GB patent 24,001: the original Tesla disc turbine patent from 1911.
      Then almost all Tesla’s improved turbine patents, except the Tesla valve patent, were patented in 1921, the valve was done in 1919.
      Patent GB 186,082: improved disc stack design for more torque
      Patent GB 186,093: combustion + steam turbine with built in exhaust heat recovery boiler.
      GB 186,084: combustion + steam turbine superheater and concentric/coaxial multifluid nozzle that the steam draws a vacuum on the exhaust of the combustion mixing them as they enter the turbine.
      GB 175,544: hybrid Tesla Disc + Parson’s reaction turbine for utilizing the Reheat Factor of the energy lost to shearing in the fluid between the discs
      GB 186,799: process and apparatus for balancing rotating machinery for quality at-speed dynamic balancing.
      US 1,655,114: aerial apparatus patent with improved turbine nozzle design
      US 1,329,559: Tesla valve for pulsed combustion Tesla turbine.
      GB 179,043: Multi-staged High Vacua Pump with high volumetric flow rate for maintaining the vacuum in the condenser by removing any non-condensable combustion exhaust gasses from the condenser.
      All together it’s like a high pressure high Temp to inverted style Cheng Thermodynamic Cycle….
      Though I for the life of me cannot figure out how the hybrid Rankine + Brayton cycle got named the Cheng cycle after Cheng in the 70’s when Tesla patents these systems in 1921 but that seems to be the way things go for Tesla 🤭

      With TesTur Energy, the mission is to give people energy independence through Combined Heat And Power (CHP) systems that can make use of underutilized energy sources like biomass, solar thermal, geothermal and even low grade fuels containing high quantities of solid particulates (like pulverized coal and powdered iron); energy sources/stores that are currently underutilized due to the lack of turbines and engines capable of handling the multiphase fluid flows (any combination of gasses, liquids, solid particulates) present in low grade heat boilers and low grade fuel sources without damage over prolonged/continuous periods of use.

    use tesla turbine

    • @CharlieSolis
      @CharlieSolis Рік тому +2

      Yes this! Tesla turbines get plenty of torque, output plenty of power and can do so even at low RPMs.
      They just have to be designed correctly to do so.
      There’s all the proof anyone could need to know this now.
      10in diameter TesTur made from cheapo aluminum on room temperature compressed air Dyno’d at 6.22ft-Ibs of torque to the shaft at only 4150rpm and +4250watts between 6,000-12,000 rpm and real 250-2650watt electrical load test runs at 9,000-13,000rpm.
      The preliminary tests are just to see how much electrical power can be produced with room temp compressed air driving the Tesla turbine.
      The TesTur nozzles never went over 20psi at the nozzle for the 2650watt electrical load test and not over 40psi at the nozzle for the 4250watt dyno test.
      This is so a baseline can be acquired for what to expect as the temps are increased to combustion levels.
      When using elastic gasses the counterintuitive thing most overlook is that the viscosity of gasses goes up with temp.
      So not only is there an increase in thermodynamic efficiency from increased temps but the TesTur isentropic efficiency also goes up due to the reduced slip from the increased viscosity.

      Why would you say that ? the whole point is to provide more power, Water hammer has nothing to do with my comment . car wash motors use the concept im describing and water hammer is only an issue if the water stops

      NOBOX7 how are you going to stop two phase flow in pipes.... liquid cannot be compressed.....have you ever seen a 1500 psi waste heat boiler moving 3 feet in either direction....I have.....

      i know what water hammer is and yes liquid can be compressed look up bulk modulus wise ass, you dont get my comment , i was talking about making a big squirt gun that sprays water into the turbine instead of steam i have done small test on this two phase flow has nothing to do with this you boil water and spray it out of the bottom of the boiler into a turbine or positive displacement pump and water hammer would benefit this process if any thing YOU GOTTA BUILD THE SYSTEM TO HANDLE THE BEHAVIOR . you cant do it attitude is the reason most ideas fail , go talk to your pessimistic friends
