  • Pruning climbing roses and growing them in shade is not as difficult as you might think. I have three gorgeous David Austin James Galway roses that are doing extremely well on a north facing wall. Take a look at this video to see how they are doing after the pruning and training I gave them in an earlier video this year - which can be found here: • How To Prune Climbing ...

    I’ve watched every single one of your rose videos and I’ve learned so much from you - particularly on how to train and prune them. Subsequently have bought a James Galway - I love their frilly petals 😍 planted it today and am hoping for a display like yours in the coming years. Please can you mention which month you are in during your videos - so I can track? Thank you for your amazing videos 🙏🏼 Can’t wait to see your future ones 🥰

    Thank you Annette. What a beautiful
    show of Roses. So many flower heads. Think it looks so good because they are all the same pink rose. You always manage to make me laugh when you go through the miss takes. Look forward to next video 😊

    I'm surprised that your James Galway blooms have no hint of peach in them. The one I bought is peachier and I don't care for that hue. I bought it after watching your videos and was hoping to get the same colours or shades as you have here. I suppose this is because of camera, monitor colours, soil PH, soil nutrients and whatnot. If you have any suggestions for me I'd be very grateful. Yours are gorgeous, your video is so inspiring!

      Hi there, thank you for your lovely comments. I'm so sorry that you've been given a dodgy rose - if you bought it from David Austin, they will be able to help you - my James Galway have never had a peachy hue and they were purchased directly from David Austin. They are definitely pink all over. No peach at all. Wherever you've bought it from should be able to offer a refund or swap the rose. Please do try to contact them and if they are a good company, they will support you. Mistakes happen, even in gardening. I've been sent the wrong tulips before and last year 2 different suppliers sent me the incorrect dahlias and they both refunded me when I sent them photos. Good luck.

    Absolutely lovely roses! Do you by any chance know the name of the white paint on the brick walls? That’s the nicest off-white I’ve ever seen and I’m thinking of painting next month. Thanks,

      Hi, I love them too! We planted them in 2016 as bare roots from David Austin. They have done so well despite the lack of direct sunlight. I highly recommend them. 🌹😁💚

      Hi Daniela, These roses get a very small amount, maybe 1 hour in the cool of the early morning but that's it. Thanks for watching.

    How do you walk out of the doors?🚪

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  Місяць тому

      🤣 We don't! Those doors are completely blocked off and walled up on the inside. We had to keep the doors on the outside because this is a Grade II listed building (preserved for history here in UK). 😊

      Oh no, Katie, that's such a shame. These roses definitely have flushes - one big one in June but then, if I deadhead them, and feed them, they definitely flower again a few times over the season but not with quite so many blooms. I think that so many roses do this but I still love having them in my garden. Have you tried growing a clematis along side your rose so that you have flowers whilst waiting for the next flush of roses?
