hi friends! feel free to respond here with which habit you resonated most with or a habit I didn’t mention ✨ appreciate you all and hope you have a lovely weekend!
particularly, i think americans in general give to much worth to money. they are always buying, coffee here and there, not cooking at all, you see Christmas, it is only a nice Christmas or a real one when you buy at least 5 gifts each haha this is somehow ridiculous. europeans are much of a saver ones and they give more worth to just simply sitting, cooking and eating together, going to the park and bringing their healthy picnic basket. US has another culture and it is the shopping/spending money culture, more money better. it is hard to break this cycle and habit.
As an American I appreciate your perspective and insight..keeping up with the Jones and impulse shopping is real. But I am more present, cooking more, walking, making nice coffees at home. I have to thank my study abroad experience in the Netherlands to help me see that I needed to rest and take breaks.
As someone in America I can't say that's completely true. I feel like normal people live normal lives and our lives don't really revolve around money. But influencers and celebrities the people that represent America that's how they live and that's how they come off. So it makes it look like it's all of America.
@@GoddessHoneybear i have lived in America for a while and with 2 american families. and I may say americans are quite of a consumers. it is not working anymore? buy a new one. cooking? no way, always eating out. of course it is not everyone but the most part of the population and culture.
One thing that has helped me so much with impulse shopping is keeping a “things to buy” list on my phone for clothes, home stuff, tech, pretty much anything. This is great for two main reasons- I have to pause and think about whether I actually need something, and if I do ever have money to splurge I can buy something I’ve had my eye on for a while instead of a bunch of small junk
I love love love this vid. I feel like it’s so easy to watch ‘influencer’ vids every day and have that comparison seep in over their lifestyle & $$$, but this sort of vid just makes me feel uplifted instead and encouraged about my own personal finance journey. thank you michelle 🙏 💛 would also love to see more of these, so you’ll always have a view from me if you put more out!
Hey Michelle! This is so random but the sunscreen under your sink was recalled recently! It’s the yellow Neutrogena one. It was because some batches had toxins and they weren’t able to really pinpoint which batches. I switched to Sunbum’s Mineral sunscreen after that though and I really like it - it’s reef friendly and doesn’t make my skin feel oily :)
I’ve been getting into personal finance recently too and the podcast Financial Feminist was helpful to get my journey started! ❤️ love what you share, hope you listen to the podcast!
I am only 29 seconds in, and the fact that you have admitted that you have, or have had these bad habits- let alone making this fundamental to your presentation- already makes you more valid than any other money "guru" do's-and-don'ts video I've clicked.
Bought a house earlier this year and the biggest thing that has helped us save/curb spending is to buy used! We furnished a lot of our home with FB marketplace finds which meant waiting to buy if the specific item wasn’t listed. If we are feeling spendy we will go to the thrift store vs Target or the mall and end up spending sooo much less overall.
One tip I've learned the hard way is to never loan money and expect it back in a certain time frame. Years ago I was fortunate enough to have the means to help my family. A few months later I ended up needing that money back and they could not repay me right away. So now when I loan money out, in my head I expect to never get it back. That way I don't ever put myself in a rough financial situation. If I get it back great! If not, I know I'll be okay without it.
Thanks for this, Michelle! And if you don't mind my asking: what paint color are the walls in your living room (around 47 seconds in)? Love the warm neutral. Thanks!
My husband and I are on baby step number 2 (paying off debt) and I found this so encouraging and a good reminder to keep working towards our goal of being debt free. Making emotional purchases is my worst money habit 😩
I’m a college student & for me since I have ADHD & Dyslexia I have a very hard time focusing at home and have to work in a coffee shop to be productive. So that means buying a coffee or pastry to use the space…. That adds up so I feel guilty about spending too much (daily visits) BUT I don’t get coffee just because on days I don’t stay to study I’ll make it at home…. I think it’s a balance that im okay with and a cost I’ve added into my budget but I still feel like I shouldn’t be wasting money on coffee shops…. What about you guys?
This is such a great video! We're also saving for a house and we're trying to improve our money habits 💸Some things are definitely harder than others to let go of, but focussing on the end goal always helps!
@@michellereedg hopefully in 1 year's time at the end of our lease! 🤞🏻 Have been really loving your videos, they remind me the importance of being grateful and intentional through each season of life 💕
Michelle! I love your financial advice videos. You’re one of the few youtubers that I feel like give down to earth and realistic advice. I actually feel like I can apply so many of these tips to my life and I don’t walk away from this video feeling worse which honestly some financial videos make me feel!
Love love love the finance related videos! Not planning on buying a house soon because we are planning on moving in a year or two and we don’t know where, but I figured a “saving for a down payment” mindset would set us up for success whenever we look to move! Even if we don’t buy a house right away.
Love the advice although pet insurance isn't all what it's cracked up to be though. I strongly suggest looking into it a bit more my personal experience and some of my friend's experiences with pet insurance weren't very good at all. Anyways I love your videos and I hope you have a great day. Sorry about the long message.
I love your finance related videos! As an engaged couple going into marriage, I really resonate with how you guys handle your income. I was curious if you have looked into a solo 401k? I believe it's a 401k for those self-employed but I'm not sure all the pros/cons of having one.
I love this type of content! I am now working my first full time job and I am kind of clueless with how I can wisely use my money (coming from very low income during uni) so thank you for these videos! Makes it seem a lot less intimidating ❤
I just started seriously budgeting so this video is just on time for me. I'm also saving to buy a home just like you. Thank you for the great insight on bad habits ❤
Hi Michelle! I love your videos and am so obsessed with the relaxing instrumental music you put in them! Could you share artists or how you find it? ☺️
Firstly I love these kinds of videos Michelle, I really do enjoy them, secondly yes I have experienced that thing when you're hungry you buy more useless thing

I totally agree. Here in the netherlands we don't have such an extreme spending culture. We enjoy being together not spending together.

Those were some great points. I should have thought of those in the Bad Habits video I made.
That salad you made in #11 looks absolutely delicious - recipe please! :)

I find it ironic that you are talking about not impulse buying at Target... then a target ad pops up 😂 love your videos! Thanks for sharing!
I’m loving these personal finance videos from you!!
Love this video! Definitely important ✨
I just got engaged this month so I need to try and break some bad buying habits to save for our wedding!
Thanks for this, Michelle! And if you don't mind my asking: what paint color are the walls in your living room (around 47 seconds in)? Love the warm neutral. Thanks!

No masks in TX :)

No matter how good or bad your life is, wake up everyday and be thankful you still have one.

I love your wallet where did you buy it from?
not me impulse shopping at 2 am 😅
I’m ready for this video to call me out 🤭
haha it’s calling me out too!
I've got an example of money habit to break: going to the gym. I've heard that people work out at home instead of going to a gym to save money.
true! or renting a place that has a gym included

You are extremely mature compared to your UTube piers they make the most ridiculous vlogs and act very immature
