Gerald, awesome review. I recently moved to SE Asia for a way too complicated project and lighting choices were becoming a bit of a challenge. Small and portable, minimal output, big and reliable with big transport costs. These are perfect for shooting in workshops and creation spaces. And you’ve also been upfront about issues, which, frankly after 40 years of dealing with often rubbish offerings from some very big names, this newcomer to lighting is a solid offering.

These have definitely been my favorite new additions to my lighting kit! Definitely bringing these with me to NAB and other trips this year since they’re so compact!
Holy moly these are the perfect lights for the projects I do. I currently have some Inexpensive Godox 60w lights that are gigantic and such awkward shapes. I have another version of this same light, the rectangular flat version and love the light with the exception of one thing. Great review! I actually just picked up the new Amaran 60x-S with the new double blue LED and it reminds me a lot of the little 60W here. What I must say though is that the new double blue LED gives me a measured SSId of 87 for daylight which is incredible, as well as zero G/M tint, plus the Kelvin values were very close to accurate to the displayed value (I used the same C-800 you have to measure it all). If Zhiyun can make their next light version with the same double blue LED chip, that 100W version has a fantastic design I'd love to use (very shallow Z-depth means easy packing in a carry bag). Add in a DTAP adapter in the box and it'd sell like hotcakes! Cheers, Paul :)
Yo Garald! Love the videos, as always well detailed. noticed your "undone" sign in the background, pretty sweet sauce! would be sick if it switched from "DONE" to undone as you open and close! keep it up! &all the best!
Hi Gerald, I'm a portrait photographer in a small studio. I'm looking for a led light to light the background as a separation light, to have this circle of light behind the talent. For this I usually use a speedlight without a modeling light and have to trial and error until the circle look fine behind my talent. Would the G60, the cutest one I agree, be strong enough to light a background for a portrait where the key light is a 400w monolight and filled using a reflector, on a clamshell setup? Assuming I still would use 1/200s as shutter speed. Would the g60 be too powerful for that, or not powerful enough ? Thanks for all your work!
I bought a Colbor light. It flashed at 70%+ and I couldn't figure out why. While watching this you pointed out that the screen flashed when your power source was maxed. I just tried my Colbor plugged in to the wall. No flashing. Duh... thanks. Great service you provide. I believe you and your opinions. Stay true brah... money can be tempting.
I just noticed on the Zhiyun site that the Bowen's mount accessory is listed slightly differently for each light. For the G60 it's listed as "Bowen's Mount Adapter A" while on the X100, it's listed as "Bowen's Mount Adapter B". Outside of the naming, are these mounts different in any way? Or are they the same and interchangeable? Thanks =)
The B adapter is slightly longer to allow air coming from the back of the light to escape from the front. I guess you can use the B adapter without problem with the G60, but not vice versa at higher levels on the x100.
Hey love the video. super clean super cool. Love the lights. Especially the G60. Any recommendations to use on the go? I’m torn between these and the Amaran COB 60x which an use an external battery. Don’t really wanna buy a usb power bank. Looking for a more elegant solution
Hey Gerald! Where do you find the bowens adapter mount? Would love if you had a link to that as I do some consideration. Great video btw, per usual! 👊♥
Thanks for this showcase Gerald! I looked into getting the Amaran 60x but this looks better to me because I can just use PD instead of buying a V-mount battery

Hi Gerald,
I'm a portrait photographer in a small studio.
I'm looking for a led light to light the background as a separation light, to have this circle of light behind the talent.
For this I usually use a speedlight without a modeling light and have to trial and error until the circle look fine behind my talent.
Would the G60, the cutest one I agree, be strong enough to light a background for a portrait where the key light is a 400w monolight
and filled using a reflector, on a clamshell setup?
Assuming I still would use 1/200s as shutter speed.
Would the g60 be too powerful for that, or not powerful enough ?
Thanks for all your work!
I bought a Colbor light. It flashed at 70%+ and I couldn't figure out why. While watching this you pointed out that the screen flashed when your power source was maxed. I just tried my Colbor plugged in to the wall. No flashing. Duh... thanks. Great service you provide. I believe you and your opinions. Stay true brah... money can be tempting.
I think wedding videographers will LOVE these
Gerald worth much more subscribers for his amazing and informative videos 💪
Wow this is incredible! Imagine a portable UA-cam studio. These lights rock!
I just wanted to comment that your intro was hilarious. The lights are awesome too!
Cool! Now I’ll cross Colbor out of my to buy list. Gonna wait to see if some other company can make it just as small and cheaper 😊
@@nretful Thanks so much the quick reply 🤯 Exactly the info I was looking for!
@@brandyle Thanks as well. Just to add - from a different video I saw that the X100 won't physically fit the adapter for the G60.
So stark that fade into black at the end... lol. These look great man!
The soft box reminds me of those mini-tent displays. Where's the full size one?
Hey love the video. super clean super cool. Love the lights. Especially the G60. Any recommendations to use on the go? I’m torn between these and the Amaran COB 60x which an use an external battery. Don’t really wanna buy a usb power bank. Looking for a more elegant solution
I would love an Aputure MC version of these lights.
Is that just their FiveRay M40?
@@shadowshapers, no. That lacks RGB.
@@mrshaheedmalik Oh I see. Yeah that's a challenging kind of light to engineer.
please make comparison with other famous lights such as aputure 120d or godox sl60
You sometimes wanna give up this passion
and Gerald keeps UNDONE-ing you…
As Camera Conspiracies would say.
ZHIYUN - you nailed the pronunciation!!
Here is a question dose the color degradation over time and usage
cuteness is resulting in a purchase
I wonder how it would be to use either of these as a top light ? Specifically I am thinking of the 60.
Hey Gerald! Where do you find the bowens adapter mount? Would love if you had a link to that as I do some consideration. Great video btw, per usual! 👊♥
woo hoo! new Gerald Undone video!!
Thanks for this showcase Gerald! I looked into getting the Amaran 60x but this looks better to me because I can just use PD instead of buying a V-mount battery
Amaran 60x takes Sony batteries too
@@CartyCantDance That's true, but most people already has some usb-c powerbank rather than Sony NPF batteries
can you say the models of leds have more than 90 ssi? i now some. how many have in the market in this moment? thanks
