Another tip I would give incoming freshmen students is not to cave into peer pressure. I wish I did this during my college days so I could focus more on my studies than the group of friends who eventually left and didn't make a significant change in my life. Like Caro said, you are accountable for yourself and there are unfortunately a lot of people who will not look out for you when push comes to shove. So please do you and find your tribe who will challenge and make you a better version of yourself.
Agreed! Great advice because I was so focused on dating granted I met my husband in college but easily could have saved time not wasting time on dudes that were 🚩 and still very single

The advice you giving is solid. It's true when you mention people who sit in the front vs the back. I had a professor tell me about how there are two different types of students: one who sits near the front rows and the one who sits in the back.

Lastly, I liked how you talked about how sitting in the front of class can make you pay more attention to the professor and how it’s ok if you don’t always have to go to college parties even though it can be fun but we have friends that we can also be with and have fun at the same time. ☺️👍🏾👍🏾

I’m a 10th grader going into college next year. And I think this is the best video I have seen on this subject. All the other videos like this focus so much on parties and friends. And I already have a community of friends outside of school, I honestly like being alone, and I am not going to college with the idea of making friends in my mind. I’m just there to learn what I can and then graduate. I loved the part of the video about where to sit in class. I didn’t even think about it before! I’ll definitely try to sit in the front.

I have a route to get to my community college. Unfortunately, I also live near a middle and high school. I have to leave at 7:30 for an 8:30 class because it’s so busy in the streets. So the second tip you gave doesn’t apply for me lol because it varies on how bad traffic is each morning

I didn’t have the type uni experience either, I was working as soon as classes finished all the way through.
Love this video but unfortunately my college doesn’t allow people to plan classes times the school does it for students before the school year starts. Also almost done my first year in college just have one final to take.

Okay, something to add to is that unless you really REALLY like waking up by 7, don't take 8 am classes. 8 AM CLASSES ARE NOT THE SAME AS HIGH SCHOOL YALL. I had to get an 8am class the second semester, and it SUCKED waking up. I live in the dorms so even with the close proximity, you can catch me setting me alarm at 7am but I will snooze the shit out of it until it's 15 min til 8 and I'm barely just waking up, putting on whatever I can find and trying to look somewhat presentable before running out the door.
Even if you were already up by 6am during high school, college is different. For me it was MUCH more tiring and exhausting plus stressful, and I could no longer wake up as early as I would for high school. Just keep that in mind

Why is cha cha at your parents?
As a fellow freshman, I URGE you all to practice putting boundaries, especially when making friends in your dorm. Some of my closest friends often come over to my dorm while I’m studying and it can really be distracting. You don’t have to be mean about it but saying “hey I’m studying rn but I’ll see you once I’m done” is not a bad idea
You’ll thank yourself in the long run, trust me
