    Great video, as usual! I definitely thing this is important.
    There are so many people who struggle with chat etiquette. Could probably make a series on this topic alone.
    If you decide to do a series of these here are a few more you could possibly add:
    Do -
    1. Listen to and be respectful toward moderators. They likely know how the streamer wants to run their channel and they are doing their best to keep the streamer safe and comfortable. Disrespecting them is effectively disrespecting the streamer.
    2. Take a moment to make clips. This is possibly the best non-monetary way to support streamers that you love. Clips help them make more content and also to know what you like to see. Additionally, at lot of streamers that go grow quickly are because of clips going viral.
    3. Encourage the streamer. Remind them that they are doing well and that you appreciate them and their content. Content creation is hard. They are putting all of themselves into their content and it can sometimes cut really deep when hours are spent preparing content for your viewers only to get a little to no positive feedback. Their hard work can often go unnoticed.
    4. Ask before posting links. Many streamers don't allow them in general. Some will have them vetted by mods. In general, don't expect them to stop what they are doing to look it, if it is unrelated to the current topic of the stream.
    5. Be constructive and read the room. If a streamer and chat are having an heart to heart, don't come in and randomly start trying to change the subject or call attention to yourself. You may not always be deeply involved in the topic at hand, but rather than trying to force yourself in, just wait until you have something constructive to contribute.
    Don't -
    1. Assume that every streamer is the same. Some streamers curse like sailors and others are very G rated. Just because one streamer is okay with crude or lewd behavior, never enter a chat assuming that is okay. It doesn't hurt to ask!
    2. Enter chat and immediately begin to vent all of your problems. Even if you know the streamer. Keep in mind that they are not your personal therapist. If they ask you how you are, you can say that things aren't going well. If they ask for more info, then it is okay to talk about it some more. Just don't force it on them.
    3. Don't beg for someone to give you a sub!
    4. Bring up random unrelated stuff
    5. Come into a chat and start firing off rapid fire questions. Some people come in and just ask question after question without even having a conversation about a topic. This is not how you get to know someone. If you want to get to know the streamer, ask a question, build off of that, maybe dig deeper or open the question to other people in chat. These sort of random incoherent line of questioning can be frustrating to the streamer.

      These are all so IMPORTANT. Mad, thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to write this all out. This is so valuable and all AMAZING points to bring up. I super appreciate you and all of the help you have given with your thoughts and feedback. Now I will have to make another video on this topic :D

      @@Syafire No problem. I am always happy to help. On the Don'ts number 4 was originally the start of number 5 then I reworded it. I forgot to switch it out with the actual #4 and when I tried to edit it, UA-cam kept saying "Returned Error" so I'll just put it here.
      The actual #4 Don't was:
      Don't-
      4. Expect special treatment for giving subs, bits, donations, etc. While this is appreciated greatly, the streamer does not expect it of you and you should not expect anything in return. This is simply a nice gesture. Some streamers may give bigger responses than others. Some people aren't good and expressing gratitude, other may be preoccupied. All in all, just be glad you did something nice to help out another person.
      -
      Also, as a side point, I've noticed a trend of people calling "Hype Trains," "Scam Trains." Usually people not participating in them. I feel this is bad and adds negative connotation to something that is meant to help and support the content creator. I've seen this make things awkward and some streamers or people giving feel bad for doing so.

      @@themadhazard I agree with you Mad. Another important topic that needs to be talked about. Thank you, honestly def gonna make another video now about more etiquette. Thank you so much.

    Love love love this! Most people mean well and just don't realize there are things you shouldn't do in chat ^.^ It's good to have this out there so they can see the streamer's side and once you know better, do better

    Absolutely fantasic advice on eitquette. I find that many people are uncertain how to act during a livestream chat and this is very helpful. I think another important don't to include for chatters is: Please do not bash/talk negatively about other streamers/content creators during a person's stream. It's very disrespectful. Viewers are there to interact with and enjoy the streamer they are watching; not listen to negativity!

    • @Syafire
      @Syafire  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much Lady! Yes that is a wonderful don't as well. I absolutely agree with you. Even brining up other streams in any manner over and over in someone's stream is disrespectful. Great points Lady, and I will be sure to include this if I make another video like this one :D

  • @sausbauz
    @sausbauz 3 роки тому +2

    Great stuff for both viewers and streamers. There's alot of viewers I find that are still kind of disrespectful to the streamers and it makes it awkward for not just the streamer but also other viewers. These are all very good things for everyone to keep in mind.

    • @Syafire
      @Syafire  3 роки тому +1

      I agree with you! People should def watch what they say. And its mega important to treat streamers and youtubers like humans as well. Sometimes people forget that.

    Thanks for this video Sya. I'm definitely going to refer people to this video from time to time. Sometimes things we take for granted as being common sense courtesy aren't really as obvious to everyone.
    Just to emphasize your first point, every streamer is different, so take the time to get to know them and you will learn what is acceptable in their chat, it's better not to be presumptuous.

    The view count thing bugs me even as a viewer. View counts can fluctuate so wildly even just on a single day, let alone a week and it's stressful both ways. Maybe you're scared that your numbers are up and how will you maintain these new viewers. Maybe they're down and you don't know if you can get them back up. It could be the same avg view count and then the streamer can worry why they aren't seeing growth anymore.
    I get it, if you're excited and happy for the streamer that they're succeeding with a high view count that moment, be happy for them. But express it differently, don't just say how many viewers.
    There's another aspect of Twitch that I think could use covering and it's the difference between being in a stream with high viewer count and very fast chat vs a smaller slower chat. Of course every streamer's chat is different, but being in a room with 30 people vs 300 vs 3k can all be a vastly different experience.

      Parlius, Amazing points. This is exactly why we said not to talk about it. You covered all the areas so well. Thank you for so passionately sharing your experiences. I was happy to read what you wrote because I feel this way too and I am glad you understand.
      I agree as well. So many people's communities vary no matter the numbers. Great point and I will consider covering this in the future :D

    Awesome video syafire,
    I'm starting my vtuber journey soon.
    I'm creating a youtube channel to help kids going through grief go through it in a positive way. I'm going to share my grief story from my childhood so that these kids know that they're not alone with their grieving.
    I've already got a readyplayer dot me avatar and I'm trying to get him calibrated into vseeface. If that's doesn't work, I can hop into vrchat or neos and record from there.
    Here's something I'm going to tell the kids, but it can apply to anyone who reads this
    You've experienced terrible things
    Terrible beyond imagination
    But you being right here, right now proves 4 things about you, and we've never met before.
    1. YOU'RE AWESOME
    2. YOU'RE A FIGHTER
    3. YOU'RE STRONG
    4. YOU'RE ENOUGH
    simply because your here.
    P.s. you and panda are right, comparison is the thief of joy.

      Thank you so much Stoo. I’m so excited for your VTuber Journey. It’s so true that many kids need to learn about grief so that they can move forward with their lives. I’m really glad you are creating that space for them. Very exciting to hear and good luck to you Stoo. Also thank you Pandah would also be thankful 🍀✨💕
