      Hello, Kaela. Hurt is the everyday life of the Dancers. I know something about that. I hope you're not badly injured, you can make it, if you can endure the pain. Only a doctor appropriate to this profession can help you. After 15 years, you won't be able to enter the Opera House. This Art is difficult and fascinating. You need a real will to enter the Corps de Ballet. I'm speaking to you as a professional.

      She has tons of potential but her technique is not precise at all here.. knees are wobbling in and out, her back is very curved and isn’t being used at all, her turnout is very forced knees are in parallel while feet are lazily cranked out, etc etc etc. It’s not her fault though, people in America just don’t teach correct turnout or placement

      @@aynazfazeli712 they don't really care about height, except if you're like really small . They want dancers with thin muscles, who have perfect bases (idk if you know what I mean but they would always prefer someone with a perfect turnout and a "clean" dance over someone who does 4 pirouettes and is super flexible...). And always keep in mind that getting accepted by video is way more difficult (Bianca Scudamore did it, I suggest you to watch videos of her to see her level...). Rudolf Nureyev often said:
    «BE what you do. I don't care to see your foot above your head. You have to touch the heart of the audience. There is technique, but without emotion...it will soon be forgotten. "Speak" with your eyes, your body, your heart. Feel the music, live it. A simple dance with much grace will touch a jury more than a series of mechanically performed pirouettes. Dance can be learned. You have to love it, you have to show that you love it. A good teaching is made of mutual attention. Miracles don't exist.
    Willpower does. Courage, too. Now children, à la barre. Première position, please. Thank you. »

      At the Paris Opera, the competition is ruthless, many young girls have this level, some are 12 years old. She was indeed accepted for the internship (3 months), which precedes the official acceptance, but she declined due to injury. However, this young girl was 14 years old at the time of the video. The average age of entry into the Corps de Ballet is 15, with a few exceptions. I speak as a professional.

    Kaela Redman
    You should go to the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg. You need to work on your arms and hands. Or apply for summer internships at the Paris Opera. Try... Work on your expressivity too. Show them how much you enjoy dancing. There seems to be a problem with your balance. Maybe it would be wise not to look at yourself in the mirror. Technique is important, yes, so is grace. Your whole body must dance. Your arms in crowns should be placed above your head. You have potential.
    But here, you're asking to enter the National Opera of Paris...
    I sincerely wish you to succeed.
    Little trick:
    Introduce yourself with fresh pointe shoes. Break them the day before, soften them. If you have failed, try again, sign up for summer internships for externals.
    Cheer up!

  • @lburgess63
    @lburgess63 4 роки тому +78

    A very good back; hence a lovely arabesque. Good turnout and feet. Unfortunately, she's hyperextended in the knees.
    Before I get jumped on by angry, but less experienced, ballet fans, this is NOT a technique issue. It's just the way you are born, like the height of your instep or length of your neck. Unless the extension is extreme (which it is not, here) it doesn't affect your dancing. It's a visual issue. It makes your upper legs look out of proportion to your calves. Most important, it can be difficult to show that your legs are straight. When you're hyperextended, your knees may actually be totally straight and the dancer completely pulled up -- but to an observer, your knees don't appear fully stretched and legs straight, even they actually are.
    Her legs do look better en pointe instead of demi. And she's only 14, and clearly in a growth spurt. So we don't know what will improve and even out in a year or two. She's talented, for sure!
    Quick note to young dancers making audition tapes: Consider it a performance, not a class. That means *get off the mirror. * Watching yourself in the mirror distorts your movement, especially your port de bras and epaulment. Film away from the mirrors, or cover them.

    • @Olive.Violet
      @Olive.Violet 4 роки тому +17

      I danced ballet for 18 years and my knee hypertension actually led to a lot of alignment issues that lead to a very bad shin and calf injury. I had to completely retrain my body to not hyperextend on any standing leg(s) and use core to support my legs more. As for the knees not appearing straight, never had that issue!

And she has absolutely gorgeous lines and is beautiful. She doesn‘t seem to have injury problems, just guessing because she is about 35 and has only taken time off because she had three babies.

    Good job not distorting your hips to create insane extensions like many girls do nowadays. Even your front and back grands battements were well controlled. If you used your upper arm (deltoid) to help hold and shape your port de bras especially a la second or in the closed position for pirouettes, the arms will look much better and your pirouettes will look cleaner. The arms are a bit floppy in the pirouettes and all good pirouettes, the “secret” is in the balance and the arms control it.

      Chad Spar91 At 14 they just want to check you’re strong enough to go on pointe, to roll through demi correctly and to be able to balance correctly on one leg. They’ll do the rest when you’re with the school. Schools like to stylise their dancers to their own style. It’s kinda best not to show too much as you might have a style they don’t like and it’s harder to train someone out of a style than it is to train them into one. If that makes sense :)

    Good Morning, Lady. 🌹
    The problem is that you're not working enough with your arms. And this is essential, for any Dancer. Paris Opera is an excellent Institution, but ruthless. Your arms, your hands, must work at the same time as the rest. You should take more preparation classes, (where did you begin?) or you won't get in.
    Courage! Work your expressiveness too. Very important.

      I wish her to find her way. Pain accompanies Dancers throughout their careers...
      I wish her the best. She deserves it.

      True. That's why good schools learn technique, expressivity, Mime, history of Art to theirs students. A Dancer isn't a robot. He must be able to express, to send emotions towards the audience. If our students want to Dance for their life, we must help them. That's why it is so hard.
      I respect their dream. They know that if they want to practice this Art for life, they have to work seriously. Theirs bodies are theirs tools of performance. They must feel Ballet, love music.
      We encourage them to learn to play an instrument. It opens their minds. It all depends on their vocation. If it's true, they grow up quickly. They have an average of 10 years of study to hope to enter a Corps de Ballet.
      We take in 3,000 a year and retain 50. Of the 50, 25 will make a career. It's not a hobby. It's a profession. An Art. But when they succeed... We cry with them for happiness. And we help those who fail. It is not easy. They've known that since they were little...
