    The Wild Bunch is, without a doubt, the most magnificent western ever made. The cast was awesome!

    "Let's go."
    "Why not?"
    Four words have never meant so much.
    "WHY NOT?" I mean they're going to their deaths! Real men! Love it!
    And the montage ending of them all laughing is perfect.

    Ernest Borgnine proudly said it was the greatest western ever made. I saw it with a buddy when it came out and my main concern was getting in to the Swiss Cottage Odeon aged 15. Changed my life.

    I really enjoyed the humour and closeness of the characters. This was the first time I saw a lot of well used slow motion. Also liked the times when there is no speaking. You knew what they were thinking. way to go Sam.

    My maternal grandfather, a big western fan, negotiated with my parents for the better part of a week for them to permit me to see The Wild Bunch (1969) with him. I was 13 years-old. To my 13 year-old psyche the movie was terrific. I learned a few new concepts having seen that movie with Grandfather. What a time that was.

    I remember seeing this extraordinary film in 1969, and it was the first time I had experienced "death" arriving in slow motion in any western. It was a watershed in western film making at the time.

      I have mixed feelings. The man himself is largely forgotten, due to his volatility, but not his influence on modern action cinema. Filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Martin Scorsese, John Woo, Ridley Scott, Terry Gilliam, Zack Snyder, Kathryn Bigelow, Taylor Sheridan and Michael Mann have been touched by the guy.

    This _really_ should be titled *_An Excerpt from:_*_ A Simple Adventure Story: Sam Peckinpah, Mexico and The Wild Bunch_ just like the source it was originally culled from;
    Since Nick Redman's documentary-short _'A Simple Adventure Story...'_ is actually *40 minutes* (total running time) -- This is the 24mn special feature from _TWB_ home video platform. Where it's clearly labeled:
    _"An Excerpt from A Simple Adventure Story: Sam Peckinpah, Mexico and The Wild Bunch (__23:47__): documentarian Nick Redman compiles behind the scenes shots and raw footage to give us a different look at how the movie was made. There is also a visit to the Mexican locations Redman took in 2004."_
    so there

    What was that shot of convicts, was that part of Thornton's time in Yuma, an out-take? It would be so good to see all the out-takes. I believe there was a shot of villagers being hung, that was why Dutch said "We don't hang no one".
    This film was so real to me, it was like the story actually happened.

    • @wheelinthesky300
      @wheelinthesky300 6 років тому +2

      There apparently was a shot of convicts cracking a rock wall
      with sledgehammers.
      There really needed to be a shot of villagers being hung to illustrate Dutch's outrage at Mapache.
      I'm afraid Ernie Borgnine's passionate protest wasn't enough.

    • @Madbandit77
      @Madbandit77 Рік тому

      Don Jose, the old man who's the informal mayor of the village, mentioned to Pike that Mapache and his men hung some of the villagers who defied them.
