  • In this video I give a quick run through of my printing process in Adobe Photoshop on a Mac. It discusses resizing, setting a border, creating custom paper sizes, and using paper profiles.
    I don't use the Pro-100 very often, but the process applies to all printers.

    Yeah this was good. I am a borderless fan, we all have our preferences. But perceptual was the trick for me and man was I fighting this in Mac. On PC the printer was money. So thank you for walking me through your settings. It really did help me with mine.

    I'm having an issue where my printer profile is not displaying. This wasn't a problem before- did I connect to the printer incorrectly?

    One thing confuses me and that is Printer Profile. This is not the paper, but rather the profile the printer reads to balance the display after any calibration, etc. correct? The paper is selected in the Print Settings, right? Or am I missing something?

      @phototocanvaspdx  2 роки тому

      If I said printer profile I likely meant the paper profile you select on the printer itself.

    Hi there, I have a brand image Prograf Canon 300 and my colours are still not printing correctly even though I’ve calibrated my screen properly. I would love help with this, if possible.

    • @phototocanvaspdx
      @phototocanvaspdx  3 роки тому

      Hi Natalie! I’m unfamiliar with that printer but I’ll do what I can! Are you in a Mac or PC? What brand media are you using?

    • @nataliedavison5592

      I’ve got a MacBook and I use a Wacom Cintiq Pro. I’m using the Premium Canon Matte Photo paper.

    • @phototocanvaspdx
      @phototocanvaspdx  3 роки тому

      @@nataliedavison5592 So in the print dialog of photoshop are you selecting the Canon Matte Photo Paper from your profiles list? And selecting Photoshop manages colors? Reference 4:50 in the video. Another thing that could be an issue is the connection method you used to hook up the printer. I'm not sure about the 300, but with my pro 100 if the printer is connected via AirPrint, or Bonjour, it throws the colors off. Make sure you are connected via USB cable or the Canon IJ tool if wireless. Let me know how it goes!

      @@phototocanvaspdx thanks for your reply, I’m doing all those things except for the USB connection. I use my wifi to print. Does the canon IJ tool download with the canon software or do I have to download that?

    • @phototocanvaspdx
      @phototocanvaspdx  3 роки тому

      @@nataliedavison5592 yeah let me know. You can use WiFi just make sure you are using IJ to setup.

    I've been printing with my canon ip8750 for a year now, and I've always used their basic canon MP profile when selecting photoshop manages colour. But for some reason it has now disappeared. I've tried re-downloading the driver's from the canon website and nothing has brought them back. Help!

    • @phototocanvaspdx
      @phototocanvaspdx  3 роки тому

      So Canon papers come with the Canon driver so thats a tough one. One thing you can try is go into the printer utility for that printer. They are all different so its hard to say what the exact problem is, but look in the printer utility for something to the affect of "update media information". Whenever my Mac OS is updated I have to do this with my pro-4000. But my pro-100 has a much simpler utility and doesn't have this option.

      @ellan394 3 роки тому

      @@phototocanvaspdx Thanks so much for the reply! Nah there's nothing about updating there, just cleaning. It's so irritating, I've tried everything and it's still only showing 2 random canon profiles. And I don't know what profile is similar enough to be okay with the matte paper.

    So why when you hit profiles does it give you a long list of paper options, and mine just gives me a 15 things that have nothing to do with paper? That's the most frustrating thing about Photoshop how-to videos: Never, ever, ever are the two screens the same, no matter how current I am. :-/

    • @phototocanvaspdx
      @phototocanvaspdx  2 роки тому

      Generally that would mean that you aren’t using the pro-100’s driver. What method did you use to connect the printer? Also I don’t know if you are referring to the print icc profile or actually selecting the paper that’s in the printer. Keep in mind if it’s the former I have many installed that you may not.

    I think you have a lot of valuable content but viewing this with an iPad made it extremely difficult to see. If you focused in on the windows and showed them enlarged it would be great. Otherwise I was guessing what you had opened. Even so, think you have valuable knowledge and a helpful video.

    • @phototocanvaspdx
      @phototocanvaspdx  2 роки тому

      I appreciate the input. Can you be a bit more specific with what confused you? The drop down menus or the actual windows of my files?

    • @wardnewcomb5977

      @@phototocanvaspdx I rechecked my video setting for the iPad and it was showing at 1080p so the fidelity is okay. The problem is when you open a window (e.g. image sizes in Photoshop, the boxes contain type sizes that are around 4 point or less). If you could have tighter focus on the box being discussed it would be much more readable. I prefer to use my desktop but was not able to do that at the time I was searching for answers. You did provide the info I was seeking, thank you.
