  • In this video, I explain how to transition from a short-acting benzodiazepine like Xanax or Ativan to a long-acting one like Valium, to prevent interdose withdrawals. I offer a detailed crossover plan and stress the significance of allowing my body adequate time to adapt during this transition.
How To Do A Benzo Crossover (Read the Description for Info and Links)
The Ashton Method works by gradually reducing the benzodiazepine dosage over time. It involves switching a short-acting to an equivalent dosage of a longer-acting benzodiazepine, such as diazepam (Valium), and then implementing a slow tapering schedule of the dosage over several weeks or months.
*** Not everyone will need to do a crossover to manage interdose WD; many will do fine dosing their short half-life benzo more frequently and can taper directly from the benzo they are on.
If you do decide to cross over to v, or to another benzo with a longer half-life, please make sure to refer to Ashton equivalencies so that you are choosing the right dose.
** Please note, there is no guarantee this will work for everyone.
** You may need to take a longer time to crossover if needed.
*** THIS IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE. PLEASE TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR FIRST BEFORE CHANGING ANYTHING.
