Nice JHS tee shirt. you need the Loud is more good one too
I know this is a bit late but that Slash Snake Pit is a Fake, on all of the original Snake Pit guitars the scales are parallel to the frets!
Finally, an internet show dedicated to bringing DOWN the prices on reverb
True
I'm just glad he actually knows what he's talking about vs some other self-proclaimed Gibson expert that isnt anywhere near the expert he claims to be. Cough*Trogly*Cough
It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for all of the people that take Trogly at his word because his self-proclaimed expert status. All they have to do is attempt to verify even half of what he says and they'd see how often he's wrong.
Might as well just buy guitars for investment purposes rather playing it for fun
Agreed, it's ridiculous.almost pathetic really...
A better way to bring down the prices would be to not buy the stuff at high prices.
Cool series fluff, suggestion: you should add after each listing what YOU would be willing to pay/value each thing for.
I was thinking the exact same thing. And maybe show some other listings asking fair prices if possible for comparison.
That’s a great idea. Would be really interesting
@@jamesmcbride7621 Me too!
I was literally halfway done typing this exact comment when I saw this comment, so this.
Bump!
If you're gonna keep up with this series, suggestion: after each listing, say what you think a reasonable price range would be, including shipping. "This, given its condition, and what it is, $800-900 shipped. Tops." I think folks would find it helpful. Thanks!
@The Goo Fighters Clearly people either don't use them or just ignore them.
@The Goo Fighters so fluff should easily be able to tell us what they are worth then.
Wouldn’t matter because people always want to low ball even if the price is fair. Sometimes as a seller you have to set the price high just to say I’m not dealing with any bullshit offers then slowly bring it down.
As a gear community we also have to say okay dude what you paid in 2007 isn’t working anymore. For instance this is a massive issue in the Fender market right now. Yes Mexi’s went for $300-$400 once upon a time and then Fender caught on to the fact that we were skipping Americans for Mexis and they jacked the prices up on the retail. We couldn’t sell them for $400 anymore because we paid almost $1000. The new Fender Mexi Vintera Jag runs almost $1100 (no hard case). Things like that mean you’re desperate or stupid if you are selling a Mexi Jag at $600 now especially with the popularity of those guitars.
Not trying to offend anyone just adding another perspective. I’m pretty much a type who just scrolls past rather than crying or bashing someone else about their listing. When it’s fair it will sell and if it’s not it won’t. Not our gear to complain about.
@@cathedralring yeah but trying to sell a stock peavey 5150 for 3000 post van halen is a piece of shit move
@@dyamicorriveau9677 Yeah you’re definitely correct on that. I don’t like gouging and I don’t feed it. The whole limited run market is frustrating but that’s with anything.
The 5150 is such a strange thing because when they were running $500 a head no one was saying “Damn dude you’re giving that away let me pay you more” you know? We all knew those things weren’t trash. Now it’s overpriced and I can’t help but find some sense of great irony in it all.
Reverb has gotten awful lately. People want almost new price for everything and want unreasonable amounts to ship.
or the amount of people using it as a glorified craigslist or marketplace and refuse to ship. i understand not shipping cabs, but people are refusing to ship guitars and heads as well. why bother listing it here if you're unwilling to deliver?
yea used gear at guitar center is always cheaper, and they have a 45 day return policy and actual stores so you don't have to ship shit back.
I mean, Stuff is selling at those crazy prices though! I just sold a ceriatone for 750 bucks that goes new for 650ish here in the US (and I had make an offer on too). Supply is just super low right now
@TheClassicRKR Not wanting to ship things is fine, but people go to reverb like they do ebay expecting to purchase something online and have it shipped. If you're selling local only why not post to craigslist/facebook/kijiji ect. where the buyers are significantly more likely to be looking to make a local purchase?
I say that as someone who prefers to buy things in person, and doesn't check reverb for local listings.
@@24avenged24 I think local only is fine for great deals, large items, and rare stuff. I would be willing to drive out for some of those, or would be happy to see if it were local. If we're talking 1 of 1,000,000 epiphones in a standard color for market pricing... yeah, just post locally on FB or CL. I would drive 4 hours maybe to get something really rare, even if shipping wasn't offered. Or maybe drive an hour and a half to get a Gibson for 300 less than market, or whatever. Granted that the rare thing or savings would be significantly more than the gas to go get it too.
"You ever noticed how other people's stuff is their "shit", and YOUR shit is your "stuff"?
George Carlin
when I see outrages pricing I assume they don't actually want to sell it but told their wife they would try
I'm watching to see if my listing is on here, which is exactly what you're describing
@@tsunamijesus haha, Sure honey I'll sell my mid 70s JMP.... for $10,000! It's crazy rare! haha
@@tsunamijesus for 5 bucks ill tell you wife I put down a down-payment on it and right before you ship the guitar I get in a car crash and have to cancel because I can't play guitar anymore. I will call her in tears. Just trying to save a guitar
@@laa0fa502 HAHAHA!
I did this once and it didn't work...
Oh man my roommate in college back in the late 90’s had a Boogie Blue Angel 4x10. Those amps are killer. I’m about to make a purchase 🤔
Heeyyy!!! Cool seeing you guys here. Love youuu
Yooo! Awesome seeing you guys over here! Love worship tutorials!
4x10 amps don't hold their value because they are such a pain to haul around. If you put wheels on the bottom they are tall and liable to tip over. When you try to pick them up the still hang close to the ground so you have to lift extra to go up stairs. Just an ergonomic disaster. I'd rather carry a Twin than a Super Reverb. They sound brilliant, though! Hope you get that amp.
WT, going Metal - LOVE it!!!
So is it basically just like a Fender Super Reverb?
When I find ridiculous listings like these, I make an offer of $50 . Just to send a message
If Reverb had the option to offer a banana instead of $ i would do that. 🍌
Hahahahah!
By a Squier Bullet Strat, write Stevie Ray Vaughan on it poorly, maybe even misspell it and offer it as a trade.
I never even thought of that it’s like a new way of saying fuck you
@Clandestine Council some men just want to watch the world burn
@@scotbutler2539 it's the polite way 😂
I love that they don’t even throw in free shipping for your $110,000 Dumble, great business practice there 😂
"I'm gonna be honest with you, man. A penny below $3306.42 and I'm losing money!"
🤣
God bless, this series has been NEEDED for so long. We all do this, but someone is finally saying it out loud.
The guitar Pit has been doing this for a long time
I don’t know why, but the Jimmy Page Epi pisses me off most. They couldn’t find an entry level Gibson, or a nice Les Paul Epi. Instead, it is the cheapest guitar on Earth.
Dont worry rich they are just scammers who try to sell to the ignorant and uniformed that believe they are getting something truly special-they do it in the uk with teddy bears jewellery and other tat....
This should be called Rate or Roast the Post: Reverb Edition
Reminds me of an ad I saw on craigslist for a tv with a cracked screen. The owner wanted half of what a new one would cost, and kept describing all the positives the device had when it was operational. The killer line was: "... but the sound still works great!" (in case you were looking for a large flat wall mounted radio with a crack).
I enjoy watching people in the know calling BS on BS. Thanks. Fun to watch.
I love how people on Reverb post stuff with the “Make An Offer” option. I don’t lowball them, but If they’re asking $200 I might offer $180. Every offer gets rejected, even if it’s $5 under the list price. It’s fine if you’re firm on your price, but don’t include the Make An Offer button if that’s the case.
I always start my offer at 20% below asking price. Sometimes they take it up front, other times they negotiate. It shows the seller that I'm serious about buying and also not trying to lowball.
And yeah, I also hate the "make offer", but they only want to take $5 off the list.
FYI, Reverb has an option for sellers to auto reject all offers under 65% of asking
That happens on EBay also, the seller will have an option to make an offer. I've tried to make offers to eliminate the shipping and they reject it. and I've made offers to round it down to the next even dollar amount and they reject that. they aren't accepting offers, they do that just to get you interested in the item. so that when they reject the offer you will go ahead and buy it at the full price.
I need buyers like you! 😂 I get the people bidding $180 on a USA telecaster 😜 Search Mississippi Son Guitars. 👍
@@mississippi-son Chicago Music Exchange had a guitar I wanted for $950. I offered them $900, because they had the make an offer button there, but they refused it. I called them and said wtf, politely. They said they felt it was already at a great price. I asked why they included the offer option then and the guy I was talking to said he didn’t know but that they weren’t going to budge a penny on the price.
2:54 RED FLAGS! Notice how that post does NOT show a photo of the sticker where the serial number is located. If someone went through so much trouble to remove the EVH signature screenprint, I am willing to bet the sticker with the serial number has also been removed. (For those who don't know, the serial number and model number should be on a sticker on the bottom of the head.) Anyway, without the serial number, and without any identifiable markings, that means this amp is stolen. If you buy it, you are in possession of a stolen item, which CAN get you into as much jail time as whomever stole it. Also, for THAT price, this is NOT some opportunist thief looking to quickly unload what they stole. This is a methodical scammer who wants to steal from the people who buy the stuff HE stole. He wants to rob you coming AND going.
For future reference, ALWAYS look for, and ask for a photo of the serial number, and any identifying markings. If no such photo can be provided, walk away. If the serial number and any identifying markings have been removed, it is stolen. Don't buy something stolen. Walk away.
6:12 Here is case in point of what I said about looking for photos of the serial number. This seller did have the presence of mind to show us the serial number, which means this is a legitimate seller. Also, thanks to that information, a quick lookup reveals this RD was made in Kalamazoo. The production date is 6th of September, 1977, and this is Production Number 51. So, you do have an actual Kalamazoo. However, THE ONLY way a 50-year-old guitar is going to be worth THAT sort of money is if it is in factory condition, and I mean FACTORY condition, like the day you bought it, then stuck it in the case, and left it for 50 years. This guitar is nowhere near factory condition.
8:26 You are spot-on correct here. Any time you see an autograph on a pickguard, that is NOT an autographed GUITAR. That person signed the PICKGUARD, and someone bolted it onto whatever guitar fit that pickguard. The only way you have an autographed GUITAR is if the signature is on the actual GUITAR, not the plastic bits, the GUITAR. After that, we will need to verify who certified the autograph, to make sure that certification is real. Most certificates are fake, but some "certification" companies will certify anything if you pay them enough. In fact, some "autographed" sports memorabilia cannot be recognised as legitimate, BECAUSE the "certification" company was raided by the FBI. The music world is the same.
9:54 Another photo of the serial number. According to Amparchives, #0038 is a 1978-1979, and also says "This amp was loaned to Joe Bonamassa for use on an album, it is not currently, and has never been, owned by Bonamassa. While Bonamassa's usage of this amplifier is part of its history, he is unrelated to any sales or transfers of ownership." Not being OWNED by Bonamassa means this Dumble is not worth the price of a HOUSE. Also, that wooden combo is the way it was originally. That is how Howard Dumble built it. The amplifier being removed from its original housing means this Dumble is NOT in original condition. That alone lowers the price.
10:18 In the thumbnails, I do see a photo of the back of the headstock, so at least we do have a photo of the serial number. Of course, for that price, was this guitar OWNED by Slash? Just like that Dumble being LOANED to Bonamassa, if this guitar was not OWNED by Slash, it is not worth the price of a HOUSE. And a $500 shipping fee? Is an armed guard personally delivering it?
11:54 Those memorial plaques were obviously glued on. Those inscriptions were NOT engraved onto the actual amp itself. There is red flag #1. Now, look at the serial number. S/A means 50W, which the sticker says 100W. There is red flag #2. Those inscriptions say they were presented to EHV in 1985. Really? The serial number starts with Y, which means 1990. There is red flag #3. So, we don't even know what model this is, and the amp itself was built 5 YEARS AFTER IT WAS PRESENTED TO EVH. This is an obvious fake, and done entirely to take advantage of grieving EVH fans. Sadly, this sort of thing always happens immediately after a celebrity dies. Overnight, we have fakes looking to scam fans who want to snatch up anything related to their idol.
So, all in all, "Ridiculous Reverb Listings" is a correct title. One listing is stolen. Some are not in factory condition, or even in original condition. Some are obvious fakes. Plus, they are all overpriced for what they would be anyway. Well, that is with the exception of the Blue Angel, but the lack of a serial number photo means I would stay away from it anyway. Research can take you a long way, and can protect you. Shame more people don't know this....
Thanks for the info. Looking forward to this every time Fluff does an episode of this series.
You are very welcome. Education will take you a long way, as well as prevent you from making mistakes along the way..
Some good info here. Never heard of anyone going to jail for having gear w/out a serial number tho....
No. The lack of a serial number itself is not the crime. The lack of a serial number is usually indicative of it being stolen, and the thief wants to remove anything which can be traced. That is why you don't want to buy anything with serial numbers removed.
As crazy as some people on Reverb can be with their gear listings, they don't hold a candle to the people on Facebook marketplace. Those people are insane.
My favorite listing will always be the ESP custom shop O.J Simpson mugshot guitar.
That's also been up for like 7 years.
ooh Fluff should do an honorable mention at the end of these. Longest bull shit listing !
C'mon guys, it comes with the Cracked Magazing with OJ on the cover. Sheesh.
Yeah that things is hilarious
When people ask these prices, always inquire how much they have it insured for. Helps sort people the hell out.
“Do I have my beard” haha
That’s too funny.
Sucks to say it, but a lot of people have to understand that modding your guitar does not make it cost more when you go sell it on the second hand market. There's a reason why people revert their guitars back to stock when selling a guitar that was previously modified.
The only mods that help price are upgrading to a better version of something already on it I.e. taking out a Floyd special and putting in an original. Even then, it’s not going to add enough to recoup what was spent on the upgrade.
Tl;dr you’re right
@@Stardust31b Basically yes. For example, you can't grab a let's say $700 strat, slap new parts on it and now charge $1300 for it, thats just not how it works. I'm using stratocasters as an example here because stratocasters/most Fenders(even Mexican made ones) are guitars that have minimal depreciation and tend to hold their value very well. The best thing to do would be to revert that strat(or whatever guitar) back to stock and then sell the upgraded parts separately.
I see that constantly and I put them on my watch list waiting for them to realize and drop the price!
I had all these pickups and pots and bridges professionally installed! Bro... your spent more on the upgrades than the original value of the instrument and no one fucking cares.... also if it's so valuable why don't you have a case for it lol
@@beautague9163 Exactly! Like congratulations, you did what the majority of us do when we get a new guitar, but at least the majority of us know that doing such things doesn't spike the value of the instrument and rather we do it to personalize the instrument(which is WHY we store the OEM parts in case we decide to sell the instrument).
@@beautague9163 If theres something both guitar and car geeks(imagine being in my world where you're a part of both, it's rough) have in common is how much we mystify, overvalue, worship and look at certain pieces of gear/engines/guitars/amps/cars/transmissions with rose colored glasses. Look at how much an original Klon Centaur, Dumble SSS, Dumble ODS, MKIV Toyota Supra go for nowadays, it's ridiculous. For $300,000k, I could buy a brand new McLaren or Lamborghini instead of an amplifier.
Pretty sure that 5150 was $3,306. 42 so that the addition of the numbers adds up to 666 LOOL people are ridiculous on Reverb.
it's dollar conversion to USD from CAD.
Now $2,951.50 CDN....just a 28% price drop. Thanks Kevin, how generous of you.
I wonder if he will ever show my guitar on which price is so high up so actually, no one will buy it, but I can say my GF that I listed my guitar for sale.
That man just solved all of our problems. Genius.
Well played, sir.
Thank you for admitting this. I commented on another UA-cam channel’s video that some people actually do this, and I was basically told that I was crazy “because nobody would go through the effort to list something that they wanted to keep”.
It is slightly frustrating when people do this, but the thing that really bugs me is when people put an item in their cart that they have absolutely no intention of buying.
I did the same thing for my Skervesen lol
Get a better girl. If she's not your wife, who is she to tell you to sell your stuff?
Remember when people were selling their used AxeFX II's for a higher price than what Fractal was selling them new? Because the one they played is so special... That was fun
Keep this series goin please, and congratulations! You've earned my subscription and like!
THANK YOU, FLUFF!! This epidemic of ridiculousness is a vein you can mine indefinitely. Roast these hard!!
Can't wait to see all the Chase Bliss listings next episode.

And the time shadows listings.. the best part is when it says “I’m not a flipper it’s just not for me”... but it’s listed double what they paid
For $100,000 that Les Paul better be delivered by Slash himself and stay for coffee upon delivery
Love this as a series Fluff! Please keep them coming

Been watching you for years when you pop up, but this one made me a subscriber.
I really liked this Fluff! Hope you do more of these. Thanks for the content.
fluff, the overdrive special is in the same realm as the clon centaur. the manufacturer of dumble is one guy in his garage, they are just super rare.
He obviously has no idea about Dumble. How do you have a guitar youtube page and not know that?

You should look at the Tom DeLonge signature epiphones, people are listing them for ridiculous prices just because they just went out of production. The Fenders are pretty ridiculous too most the time
In general I've been seeing Reverb prices, then buying new from Sweetwater for not much more, plus I get the delivery much quicker. Pedals alone seem to only be $20 cheaper used these days.
Same on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace. People are nuts.
Thank you so much for doing this show!! SOOOOOOO many times I wanted to ask a seller what in the hell they are smoking! It's bad enough people are jacking up items because they think it is a one of a kind or because of brand, but jacking up the price on anything related to EVH is beyond ridiculous. This may be my new favorite show and just may actually help educate a buyer before making a silly decision. Thanks for all you do!
I really enjoyed this video. It made me feel better about a few of my boneheaded purchases and and also regarding a few of the better deals I have scored.
I remember those Slash signature Les Pauls from back in the mid 90’s... I think they made 50 of them or something. They look cool, but unless I was a Slash super fan (I AM a fan, don’t get me wrong) with more money than I could ever spend in a lifetime, there’s just no way. They didn’t even sound very good.
Now... the Dumble. Just like the damn Klon Centaurs, the market on those things is completely ridiculous *BUT* there is something about them that I can’t totally explain. I don’t know if you’ve ever played through a Dumble, but there is something going on there that is... different. They are amazing. Not to mention extremely difficult to get... you can read all about that and the not totally sane Howard Dumble online. I’ll admit it right now though... if I ever found myself in a situation where I had, oh, $800,000 that I could spend on whatever wanted... I would buy the sweetest original 1959 Les Paul I could find, and I’d get a Dumble (and probably a damn Klon too) to play it through. I just wouldn’t be able to help myself. Screw expensive cars, jewelry, houses, and all that. Just give me the magical gear please.
When the wife says you have to sell some gear, you price the gear wisely.
This is a FACT.
I would just tell her no. Tell her to sell some of her shit.
If this ^^ is even a possibility in your life, you, my friend.......done fucked up!
@@jaycook2323 no its called being a man and having ur own balls lol.. I'd laugh in my gf/wife's face if they asked me to sell anything that was mine. But lucky my Gf has a decent size apartment so my wife doesn't know I have new stuff. Win win.
I love the idea for the new series!! I’ll be looking forward to these almost as much as the Rate or Roast episodes.

Omg thank you so much for doing this, bugs the hell out of me that people do this and especially the evh stuff. Thanks keep rockin!
Love the idea for the series! May I suggest, perhaps you could give an alternative of what one could get for the amount of money each product goes for, or how much each product usually costs or what you would actually pay if you were in the market for such amp, instrument, etc.
Again, loved the video!
i knew dumbles cost sports car money, but i thought it was their lineage and their past ownership that drove the price up. 100 grand is enough to buy a small appartment where i live!
Got to love what these people consider ‘mint’ or ‘excellent’ condition.
Do they believe nicks, scratches and dents are not considered damage.

Drives me nuts seeing used stuff that’s still available new with asking prices higher than the brand new price. All over Reverb.
I'm convinced it's gota be a front for drug dealers. They never intend on selling anything that doesn't come in a zip lock.
Reverb's support has gone down hill. No more phone support, though they still have a web page stating that they have phone support.
I love this so much! This is a different level of video
This was great big boy. Look forward to more
I don’t know man, I’m pretty high right now and I would never pay these prices 😂
I thought part of the reason the 5150 got so popular was because they were like $800 used back in the day.
Sat with the big Soldanos, Marshalls and Boogies for 1/3 the price. People asking bonkers money for them are looney. Are they worth what one would pay to GC? Most probably. Are they worth more than that? No.
This was definitely entertaining, had me laughing good, keep it going man!
Glad I'm not the only one who sees stuff like that and thinknits ridiculous. Thanks dude!

The 5150 is probably such an odd price in USD because the seller is Canadian and listed it for $4000 CAD

This is so awesome!, I can relate because you sound like me when going through these listings. I laughed so hard. Good stuff!
I’m just waiting for the sellers to reach out to you with their lame explanations. That would make an awesome segment too.
Can you please call this series “Reverbulous” lol
Great series!
Great Series!!!! Keep it up!!!!
heres a new video, just like the old video, FLuff takes the piss out of everything. Spot on about the EVH price gouging tho.
But Eddie may have touched it so 17000% value increase???
@@PooNinja it’s gross
Buyer beware. Be smart. I just laugh at overpriced gear and move on. Also, watch out for overpriced shipping which is a way to lower the item price in the listing but recouping it in shipping. Don't buy from those sellers either.
Drives me nuts when I get a notice a price dropped, a majority of the time they do this like I wouldn't notice lol
This is awesome. Keep shining the light on them.
Id definitely like to see more of this series, this was entertaining. Some people are nuts
Shipping costs have skyrocketed, Reverb fees have increased and people are out of work. Not that surprising.
Yes I agree, between the fees, taxes and shipping I make crap on a hundred dollar pedal sale.
Relicing is one of the biggest scams. How exactly does sanding off some of the finish make it more valuable?
Really enjoyed this episode. I hope in future episodes for reference you could give a ballpark figure of what the thing is likely worth in your opinion.
Great video I love your emotion call a spade a spade. Keep them coming. Thank you
It gets worse as they've continually increased their fees. I get it that they need to make their $; but it has gotten wayyyyyyy out of hand.
You can thanks etsy for that.
TL;DR version: These people are high... 🙄
Yes and also greedy and dishonest!
Great series , I'm not alone now .
This made me LOL, great idea for a video. Keep doing these i love them!
