I always interpreted this song to be about addiction. Opioids come in the shape of boats. That’s always been the meaning of a “dream boat” for me personally. Lyrics make perfect sense for it, from expressing the anticipation of “waiting to set sail”, the “little white whale” (pill), to the last line that hits me in the gut every time. And the nostalgic, melancholy sound only adds to it. So nah, you’re not the only one lol
