    My Polestar 3 Launch Edition Performance model should arrive in September. I can't wait!

      Hey jriding what’s up. Where about do you live? Europe? North America? My app says September now. But according to everyone at polestar I will have it before august, or at worst, early aug

      @@windowman9665 Calgary, Alberta Canada. Polestar called me and said September was a rough guess and it could arrive sooner. If it's being built now, which it is according to the app/website than I think July/August is more realistic because it doesn't take that long to build a car.

    I'm not surprised. The Polestars seem (at least to me) to be Performance cars first and are electric, whereas other EVs (not gonna mention names) are Electric cars first and have some performance aspirations.

      Good point. Polestar vehicles are designed with performance in mind from the very start. It’s not just about 0-100km or 0-60mph. It’s handling , braking , dampening AND speed / performance

    My Mach e looks a little more sporty but this Polestar is really cool. That battery is huge. Range for here in Canada would be very desirable.

    Pricing change from $83k to $73k was needed. Compared to its competitors (BMW iX, Model X, etcetera) it sits quite well there. This will probably be one of the most driver engaged EV SUV:s as of right now. Sure, some other cars have faster 0-60 times, but this Polestar seems to be gearing towards driver enjoyment, rather than pure straight line speed. I'm looking forward to tests on regular asphalt. A friend of mine in the US will receive his in July, can't wait to get his and ya'll UA-camrs' opinions on the car once it's truly out there.

      Also note the price drop doesn't mention that you no longer get some options included like Pilot which when you price it out, is actually more expensive than the Launch Edition.

    • @TJPavey
      @TJPavey 6 місяців тому +2

      As was pointed out. It really dropped to $80k. Basically $3k drop when comparing equivalent specs. Some may opt out of the pilot and plus though. I wouldn’t at this price.

    • @tobias_dahlberg
      @tobias_dahlberg 6 місяців тому +3

      @@TJPavey You're both right. But the market does seem to love itself a lower "starting from $X price", Polestar just had to conform to that by taking away some packages from the launch edition. I'm sure there are some people who gain interest in an automobile simply because the starting price is at a point they find reasonable, then they end up adding packages and going to 80k anyway...., or they just buy the entry level model.

    Hi Tom, is there any news of a Polestar CCS-to-NACS adapter, like Ford has done. I have always liked Polestar, but bought a Tesla instead because of the charging network. I would not consider any EV that can't use the Tesla Supercharger network. At least Polestar put the charging port in the right place 🙂

  • @petehelme7714
    @petehelme7714 6 місяців тому

    A bit disappointed in your comments on the lack of a J3400 port at launch being "bad news." You've stated elsewhere that using an adapter with CCS-1 is no big deal and Polestar has said one should be available in the U.S. for their vehicles (and their software updated to use it) by mid-2024.

    • @StateOfChargeWithTomMoloughney
      @StateOfChargeWithTomMoloughney  6 місяців тому +1

      It really isn't a big deal, but I know a LOT of people who think it is and won't buy an EV if it has CCS1. I get emails and messages about this all the time. So, while it shouldn't really matter in my opinion, it does to a lot of people, and it will likely hurt sales of the P3..

    Could you comment on what chargers are wxpected to deliver 250 kw. Isnt it 400v class? Not sure how thats going to work with adaptors and 500a limitations.

    • @StateOfChargeWithTomMoloughney
      @StateOfChargeWithTomMoloughney  6 місяців тому +2

      Well, I am pulling 210-212 kW on CCS1 stations and on Tesla Superchargers on my 400-v Rivian R1S with all three adapters I have. I'm not sure what the pack voltage is, but it must be high voltage pack. Tesla's can pull 250 kW and they are 400-v.

      Electric vehicles are the fastest depreciating vehicles in the US
      I don't see that changing anytime soon.
      The EV's I even maintaining any type of sales numbers is because of fantastic lease deals right now.
      Just look at the history of the Polestar 2 and what happened to its value.
      You would be a fool to outright purchase a luxury level EV right now in the US

    Car is nice but she didn't really know what she was talking about. Price point is a bit high. Not that the car is not worth it but with such a young company people will struggle to feel safe spending that much. I almost grabbed a BST but for that exact reason I decided to go with Tesla.

    I own stock in Polestar and its holding company, Geely. Geely saved Volvo from extinction. Polestar is a spinoff of Volvo Thank God that Geely lets Volvo and Polestar do their own thing in creating exceptional vehicles. There are so many things that I like about the Polestar in this video. Range and charging time in freezing weather as well as reliability are additional things that need to be mentioned to further inspire buyer confidence. I am glad you did mention them in this video. Is there bidirectional charging? Are Polestar or Volvo considering making an Hybrid EV? Unfortunately, the price is a killer for me as I am retired.
    P.S. A big thumbs up.

    I LOVE IT, but I hate the lifestyle design compromise. It had the potential to be a really good AND practical car with decent cargo space. The alternative EX90 that sits on the other end of the spectrum will probably be like a typical volvo - dead feeling. I suspect because of these compromises, they will help drive customers towards the Germans. Too bad

      Still involved with R&D, servicing, distribution, production, etcetera. Just lowered their stake in the company from like 48% ownership to 18% - meaning Polestar is now more of an independent brand within the Geely Group, which is reasonable considering not all of their cars are Volvo derived anymore. Polestar 4 is on a Geely platform, Polestar 5 and 6 will be produced on their own platform that they are currently not sharing with anyone. They're slowly becoming their own thing.
