Altengrad is a time-progression Cities: Skylines series where I build a Central European city, located until 1989 in the Eastern Bloc, taking inspiration from Germany, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. The series starts around the year 1920 and slowly advances forward in time, which means the city will naturally evolve all the way to modern times. The city is not a recreation of any one real-life city or country, but it takes inspiration from them.
PC specs are in the channel's About page. No, the game doesn't run like this in real time. Cinematics are recorded slow and made faster in editing.

Let's hope Altengrad doesn't get rid of it's trams in the late 70s or 80s.
D:
It probably won't happen, as most European cities have their tram network expanded instead of removed
on stream Akruas showed that some tram network will be destroyed due to building highway intersections
@@chauless6648 sadge, :(
Some of these 1920s trams like in here Brno are still use, but only use as atraction. And those newer one... well someone made it in Prague a podcast studio and driving pub. :D
(But idk in here, he got so many mods, that its possibility he will someday delete them)
This city is starting to feel more and more like a real city the closer we get to the present. It almost feels like I visited it before!
Wow! Altengrad looks as amazing on street view as from above. Keep up the fantastic work, Akruas!
The tram driver is cutting curves on crossroads like mad man! Hope no comrade was injured on this ride. I would recommend inspection from Altengrad transport bureau haha
loved seeing Altengrad from this perspective! It really feels Central European, with the blend of fancy late XIX century building intermingled with socialst/modernist ones. Very walkable, still. I'd love to own a flat in those blocks in the new center, reminded me of the center of Warsaw, with the palace of culture and science, the high rise hotels, the postwar blocks on Swietokrzyska street. Tremendous job, as usual
Just one thing, I know you included a map at the beginning, but I'd love to see the tram stop names on the way, to identify those specific buildings we stop by
Great video! For more realistic tram rides I set the turning rate in Advanced Vehicle Options to 0.02. The trams then go about 15 kph when making a 90 degrees turn. Another tip is that I make a node around 3-4 tiles before an intersection with track switches and on that short segment I set the speed for tram lanes to 20 kph. The trams than go slow over the switches even when going straight, which is how it works in real life.
Proper tram switches can be built with higher speeds than that. Often the straight direction will allow the street's speed limit and only turning will be slower
@@jan-lukas Yes but they're expensive and weren't really used in 70s within city in Eastern Bloc.
@@jan-lukas In vienna they still go over switches with 15km/h 😂
Wonderful sound design on this one. Love the bell going off when kids are playing near the edge of the platform at stops or when someone does a crazy turn in front of a tram!
it's crazy how detailed ever little bit in this city is, despite it's already huge size. And it doesn't even feel scaled down. Feels like a proper city.
Witchcraft at 05:19 ;-D // Amazing tram ride, Altengrad does look super realistic. Another tram oder bus ride would be much appreciated!
Its not magic - it is technology!
ua-cam.com/video/ZuoGhyGOkIw/v-deo.html - flying cars already present.
@@dariuszgostek5815 Advanced technology, how could we forget it?! 😁
At first I thought the city was too small to be realistically have tram lines, but then I searched 1970s maps of midsize Central European cities and realized you did a really good job.
It’s insane how this city simultaneously is Prague, Krakow and Saint Petersburg! Love your work!
Even tho your city looks absolutely gorgeous and realistic at the same time, I realise it needs some shops and restaurants on the first floor of most of the buildings. Its something very common in western european towns. I hope you’ll see that comment ! 😉 great city !
Thought about exactly the same!:))) But then... I am not sure, if it would really mirror our (Slovak, Czech, Polish, other...) cities and towns of that times:) Certainly, there were... but what I also see in our this-time movies is, that shops and services offered in our streets were not that "visible", eyes-poking adverts and neon-lights were not that common in our countries as it was on the west:))
@@davidlipa4844 tbh, i think it'd of been so cool if akruas made it so there was a wall and developed the city similar to berlin after ww2, like an east altengrad and west altengrad lol
@a_normal_earthbeing1180 the city does take heavy inspiration from czech cities tho
@@austinhavlik9746 ahh ok
That's amazing and looks like real shots from Prague! Especially that, exactly like in the real life, tram drivers go full speed on sharp turns and just keep ringing in case of an obstruction instead of slowing down :D
Looks really good! Amazing to see the streets up close. Will the railway be expanded to more of an S-Bahn like system?
The amount of details you put in Altengrad, not only in Buildings, but also in tram rides, is impossible! For instance, in 3:21, when people are walking in front of tram you put bell ringing sound. Completely unnecessary, but how nice!
4:01 - That little girl jumping on the edge has a death wish. 🤣
Old cities look amazing, and we should keep building them like that!
Amazing...
This is the best and most realistic CS-City I've ever seen.
May I rent an appartment in Altengrad? It feels like a real hometown in central Europe.
I love it 😍👍
This is giving me strong Lost Heaven (city from Mafia game) vibes. And I love it because I liked just driving around , immersing myself.
sooo good 🤯 cs2 won't come close to this realism in ages...
Absolutely amazing! The sound editing is spot on as well!
Absolutely amazing, very immersive. I can't wait to see new updates.
Perfekt start in the weekend
Love it I hope so the city will grow by year 80s then followed by post year era of 90s ❤❤
I haven't been able to visit Eastern Europe yet, but this reminded me of when I studied over in Cologne, Germany! The architecture, the sights, and the sounds all took me back to there. You've done an amazing job!
Definetely feels like central european city tram line. Good job!
Love the first person rides through Altengrad
Really nailed the vibe. Ik cos you work on the projects they prob don’t seem that stunning from a personal perspective so least I can say is a lot of people appreciate this content :). I love this time period with the architecture style.
This is my favorite series please dont stop it even if cities 2 releases.
my hometown had the exact same Czech trams, also in the same shade of red.. still have the same but refurbished ones, now blue
This is amazing! Love your work, you don't get enough praise for what this project is worth!
I absolutely love watching these videos. The scenes are beautiful and they give me some ideas for how I'd want to do my own networks. Now the only thing missing from these is realistic lighting... that would be so awesome 🥴
the beauty of this city still stunns me
i like that you added the tram bell ringing whenever someone was close to the track
I love this tram ride. That city looks so awesome.
I am excited for another one's in next decades. ^w^
Also i was wondering, altengrad got now big history and many new things and vehicles has been in this series.
So you could try to make technical museum, where you could store those old trams, old trains, old cars etc.
Would wanna live there. Really inspiring!
Reminds me of my home city of Zagreb. Great work 👍
Altengrad and Asturis are my favorite Cities: Skylines series. Nice job!
Looks very gorgeous! Great job man
This Altengrad looks so capitalistic! So many personal cars in the streets!
..
you can clearly see the missing greenery on the streets everywhere. I guess it's something for future "post-modern" episodes, where city planners are realising the benefits of green in the city.
looks great! very surprised! keep up the good work, really enjoy watching your videos.
Magnificent! Such a beautiful city, and so nice that you get to see all your hard work finally pay off in the end. Bravo!
Wow! This really looks like a city. Didn’t know you can make so close to real one.
Love it! I think that in the future, for immersion, when the tram is passing over a switch there should be a second, quieter, rumbling for the back wheels passing over the switch after the front wheels.
wake up babe new altengrad episode
Amazing! Also I'd like to know how you made the pedestrian underpasses at 5:17, that would really help me build my city. Also at 5:42 there may have been a really bad accident there, thankfully it is just a simulation, probably due to the traffic AI not being the smartest in this game.
He did that tram stop in episode 76 . Somewhere at 15 minutes
thx@@kandler3191
oh boy, this takes me back ❤ magnificent as always
4:42
That truck is in a huge hurry!
Wow. So real looking city. Beautiful and gorgeous
Beautiful !!!! It's lot of work but the result is stunning. 💪👍
I love the way you choosed Czech Tatra tram’s. They’re so cool!
Great! Really has some vivid East European details, I guess I even recognize some of the buildings.
Your cities are awesome!
It amazes me how you manage to cought the vibe of sovietblock city. Watching this literally felt like going trough my own city in poland.
I was suggested this video,
the city looks amazing and the ride was fun. I'm gonna definitely watch more content if I find it enjoyable
i love this reminds me of line 17mixed with line 47 in budapest and almost the same models but we use the tatra t5c5 mixed in with some never
Trams. ❤
Impressive, stunning, realistic... Mad kudos
Congratulations, it turned out really good.
Awesome !
This was great!! a Soviet style East German possibly Czech ? City Wonderful Soviet Planning And the Zils and Trabants are glorious
15:21 lady hit the dab
It is amazing man, keep up the good work!!
I literally got nostalgic for home at some points. The whole city is so realistic

was waiting for this one
It looks like real city. Good job.
Reminds me of home. Just much better looking.
Very nice! Thanks for posting!
Thats such a wonderful, realistic city. Had to subscribe!
Love the Tatra noises.
this is incredible! You took CS to a new level
Holy hell, new video just dropped
Incredible details this is amazing
i am most impressed by the low amount of traffic jams that are in this city
man this is a 2015 game and it never dissapoints if you know how to use it a bit! the CS wizard did it again! can't wait for the future games where it so real, it could look like you've traveled back in time or to the future in a real world! just crazy and I hope I'm there for it!
This is a wonderful vintage mod. I wonder if there will be one for the turn of the century where there was still horses and carts on the street. I'd love to see that!
That girl at 4:00 was risking everthing 💀
the city is becoming to feel so real!
Волги, Нивы и люди в современной одежде. Вспоминается 78-ой...
This amazing, great job
Wow beautiful city
This is beautiful
Amazing!😊
Wonderfully realistic looking. Bus or S-Bahn ride next pls!
I cant wait to see modern Altengrad
Rode a lot of Tatra T3s in my childhood, although I preferred the more modern and comfortable Tatra T6.
I love those episodes
will the budapest public transport also share this ride? :D
💯 sure 🤣
Altengrad looks like an Eastern Berlin, Prague, Warsaw and Budapest combination at 60s.
Love it! 🙏🏻😍👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 Can we expect metro/underground/subway coming to Altengrad any time soon?:)))
Man this gives me vibes of the city of Zwickau.
It feels like I visit a realistic eastern european city from a tram driver's cab!
It's quite realistic, so much so that I was saying "ooh watch out!" when that girl in yellow was skipping right next to the tram tracks just after 4:00
I watched it all. It made me homesick for a place that doesn’t exist in a time I never lived through. There are so many layers of artistry here; the assets, their specific placement, the atmosphere, even the sound editing.
The best part is that all the people are well-behaved, well-dressed, polite, slim and White. I really miss that.
All wonderful. Thank you.
Wow!
4:40 hahah this truck are crazy
This country where Altengrad is located seems to have worse drivers than in places like Rome, as in, even more aggressive, somehow.
not to be complaining but, would love to see a small map of the city in the lower right corner showing where the tram is in real time. 😁
He's crossing switches too fast :D
Good job on both the city and video!
