William Adams (the protagonist in Nioh) was a real samurai appointed by the literal Shogun (Tokugawa) and was given the title of Hatamato, and also helped develop Japan's western influenced navy. Yasukes accolades don't compare to that. At all. William Adam's is a literal legend in Japanese society, has monuments, train stations, etc named after him in Japan, Nioh was also made by Japanese devs. Go ask Japanese people in the comment section on the japanese trailer for the game who yasuke is, or on japanese twitter. They either don't know who he is, or will call out the fact that he is being way, way, way overplayed by western society. I'm black, before trying to say im self hating or racist or whatever, I don't have a problem with there being black characters, just feel like japanese folks should've had their moment for a change(yes i know they have Ghost of tsushima, im speaking purely in the context of Assassin's Creed, a game set in japan has been asked for since the beginningof the franchise). We have two games with Black protagonists in the series (Liberation, Freedom Cry), yet zero with an oriental protagonist, and its not just angry white people compalining about this on behalf of japan. There are literally japanese people confused as to why they went with yasuke. (However there have been plenty of racists pissed about this) I think the problem for me is the context in which this is being done, these devs are doing it for agenda pushing rather than actually trying to represent black people in a good way. Had yasuke been a DLC campaign i would have no issue, but in terms of just randomly inserting the one and only black guy, it seems kind of sus. I think that people can see it clear as day with how these companies think, this is why NOW there is outrage, when there was no outrage to this level with Freedom Cry or Liberation. No other AC game has you playing as a protagnoist that is a direct, real historical figure. Why start now? Every other game has the front and center protagonist be someone who is native to the area where the game takes place. Why change that now? It just feels like these people want brownie points. And not bevause they have the best interests of blakc people at heart. On top of that. Japanese folks are left confused and kind of pissed off about the fact that out of all fhe historical figures they decided to go with, they bi passed influential, notable figures (im sorry but in terms of an actual impact on their society during the sengoku period, yasuke did nothing, there were plenty of japanese men that were around at that time doing more with a lot more interesting history) and went with yasuke. Simply off the fact of him being a black guy. Just my two cents.
To your first point, yes, Adams was a samurai during the Tokugawa period. And if the story of AC:Shadows took place during that time period, it would be perfectly natural to expect to see Adams feature prominently. The story AC:Shadows is telling takes place during the reign of Oda Nabunaga, however, where there's another foreign samurai in play. To the second point of wanting a protagonist from Japan- there is one. You can literally play through the whole game as Naoe. Your argument makes it sound as though she doesn't exist at all. If Yasuke wasn't a protagonist, and it was only Noae the Shinobi, would there still be a problem? Part of the reason the devs say they were so drawn to him, is one of the things you mentioned. He is less known and more mysterious than someone like William Adams, so they could do more with him than with a person with tons of accomplishments. They also knew early in the process that they wanted dual protagonists, and they thought it would be interesting to have one protagonist be native to the area, and another be completely alien, so that the player can experience Japan through both their eyes. No, they have never made an AC with a historical figure before. Why now? Why not? Because that's the way my father's father's father did it so you can never do it differently? The state of media would be dismal if we always took this approach. You also mentioned that Nioh, which takes places in Japan, has only one protagonist, and it's Will Adams, a white man. This was not a problem. AC: Shadows has two protagonists- one of them an Asian woman, and one a black man. This is a problem. Something to think about.
Nah No one batted an eye when they featured a White Edward Kenway in the damn carribean (a predominantly African region) but somehow this where we draw the line about "respecting culture". How exactly does a Black character (that actually existed in Japan), count as disrespecting Japanese culture?? Him being there? Him being as exaggerated as a samurai (which is something AC does all the time with its historical events btw)? See, what I've noticed is that its only ever an issue when we have Black characters involved in a franchise. I'm old enough to remember when some people were complaining when GTA San Andreas came out, about controlling CJ, cause hes Black, there were even mods that made him White. Another example was when Battlefield had a Black man on the cover, and it literally had people "concerned"... All cause a black man was on the cover of a damn video game. So nah, this is most definitely racial - there's a pattern to it. I wasnt convinced the first or second or third time it happened... but 100th?
If the first thing you have for defense is "oh their just racists". Then it clear that you eat up anything as long as your pander too. Not everything is because the character is black. Most just want to play/watch what is expected to be seen based on the setting. If they took some black culture and white washed it or focus told it from a white person these same people would be up in arms. Cultural appropriation this and that. DEI has been a big issue with game and media now. In AC case They choose to use Yasuke to tell a story while knowing full well the issue people have with DEi. All they showed is that they are no better. Most of the people defending it isnt even going to buy it. With it price so high if it flop they have an out now as they'll say it was the racists and the bigots. Most people are just sick of it.
“Most just want to play/watch what is expected based on the setting” the “fish out of water” storyline is one of the oldest plot points in media history. Is Harry Potter from Hogsmeade? Was Tom Cruise’s character in The Last Samurai from Japan? Is Mario from the Mushroom Kingdom? If you hear someone call a certain type of person “racist” and that person isnt you why be offended by it? If this game ends up being mid I promise no one will be shocked. This video isnt defending the quality of Ubisoft games but the unwarranted disgust people are showing towards Yusake.
@@RealGameClique Granted That is true some people view on him is racist. But alot of it is just people wanting or thinking both playable characters would be japanese. While others mostly AC fans, find it odd that they choose now to make a real person playable. The last group which I see myself in is tired of seeing media use P.O.C as a pander button for points. Feels like they think im stupid and will just buy stuff because the person has the same skin color as me. The characters you metion are different cases Harry Potter is pure fiction, The Last Samurai had backlash, Mario also pure fiction, AC is very loose historical and plays on mythos of the region. Yasuke would have been better used as a major npc working with the 2 MC characters. But Im not buying the game anyway due to price and their AAAA model so my points are pretty mute.
@@RealGameClique don't people still give The Last Samurai flack about Tom Cruise being in it? But still it's still going to come across as weird when someone starts off in a vid mentioning "seeing ourselves in games" when there was a very clear choice to deny that to some folks as a developmental choice. And once again, most discussion is going to get drowned out because people want to harp on racist white folk even if there are non-white people trying to voice concerns.
@@bartofii I am not aware of Last Samurai flack. Most of the people who hated that movie never watched it and jumped to conclusions based on the posters and trailers. I have a feeling the same will be said about AC:S.
@@bartofii Ubisoft as well as the AC franchise have flaws and issues that need to be critiqued. We are not dissuading anyone from that. This video is directed specifically to the ppl using gamer culture and concerns of the Japanese culture to mask their true intentions.
I am from South Sudan (as Thomas Lockley said, Yasuke is from South Sudan) and I have known his story for a long time. In fact, he was not a samurai, but rather a slave in the Italian caravan in Japan, and he carried swords for Oda Nabunaga. The second thing: It is bad to introduce equality and Diversity and distortion of history just to please a specific group of people (as Ubisoft claimed that the game revolves around a specific historical era). Let’s say if a game was made that tells about the Zulu tribes and the main character in it was a white man and he is the strongest warrior in the tribe, what would your reaction be? ? You will say that it is a distortion of history, right?
Lol.....i played with bayek in origins in Egypt and he is a handsome black character that i like so much, i'll not play this one cuz i want to play as japanese samurai in japan. Am i racist? No, cuz a black character had already his oportunity to play as a main role in the AC games. Now it is time for the Japanese people.
@@RealGameClique No, i'm gay and i don't like to play with females protagonists, i like men, i like to play with male characters, handsome ones, like Alexios, Bayek, Eivor, etc... I think this AC you'll not have the choice to choose wich one you'll play, you'll be obligued to play with the female one sometimes. I want a male japanese, i feel atracted to males not females.
@@fantasygameplay256very interesting and I'd like to get your thoughts on something? It has been revealed that both Naoe and Yasuke identify in the game as LGBTQ+, which in turn, opens the door for possible romance options as you play.
@@dazzaboy04 This is a comment that a japan guy made in another Ubi trailer country: As a Japanese, I can confirm that Yasuke is not even mentioned in the Daimyoki(大名記) which record the names of all samurai and retainers under control, including those who made no notable contributions. Yet, they still declared him a samurai. Our culture is rich, with many stories and notable figures known only to the Japanese. This game could have been a bridge to share that richness, but instead, they chose to focus on a figure like Yasuke, who is barely known and not mentioned in our historical texts, seemingly to serve their own agendas. Only Japan people have authority to confirm their own history.
@@fantasygameplay256Thats a phalical argument, just becuse im not Italian doesn't mean i cant make a story based on Italy. And secondly, having Yasuke doesnt necessarily mean there'll be no other stories or characters that are relevant. I keep bringing this up, but did people have a problem when we controlled Edward Kenway (AC BlackFlag) in the Carribean islands (a predominantly African region while Edward is a White European) ?? No. No-one complained, in fact people loved the game. So this speaks to the double standard between White and Black characters. If they're White, then its fine, if they're Black then all of a sudden we need to "respect the culture and blah blah blah".
The funny part is people complain about accuracy in the assassin's Creed games but the thing is assassin's Creed is not accurate all of the characters that you play as in all of the assassin's Creed games they're not from their respectable time anyways they are fake characters this black samurai is the only one that's correct he is actually a real character that's the funny part
I just saw the trailer for AC Shadows last night and was blown away by how gorgeous it looks and the two characters Naoe and Yasuke. My thoughts didn’t go to “Irmagerd a blerk mern!!!” However, my thoughts did go to excitement for the idea of how dynamic gameplay could be in being able to switch seamlessly between the two. One who is a Shinobi who can hide due to her training but also due to her looking like the dominant culture she’s existing in; and, the “other” who is a Samurai but who sticks out because his brute size, strength, and precision, and also because he looks nothing like the dominant culture he’s existing in. Done well (as opposed to right), being able to change between them could make for something really different (much like Spiderman 2) where you can play into each other’s purpose, strengths and abilities to be able to accomplish the tasks and progress through the story. Then I made the mistake of going to the internet to find people not excited but ranting and raving like feckless lunatics over prescribed social identities and perceived woke and anti-woke bullshit. I’m so tired of the extremes dominating the narrative, and ruining any possibility that something could be really good in spite of differences. People REALLY need to get a grip and go outside to touch some grass. I don’t play games to think too hard about anything but escape into a world and a story that takes me away, and doesn’t require me to think about real world issues. For crying out loud people! It’s not real life but a feckin fictional game. The answer is pretty simple. If it appeals to you and you want to play it THEN PLAY IT! If it doesn’t appeal to you and you don’t want to play it THEN DON’T PLAY IT!
If I were a betting man I would be willing to gamble that 98% of the cast of that game will be Asian men 😒. Also there are a plethora of games with Asian men as protagonist (Ghost of Tsushima, Ninja Gaiden franchise, Ghostwire Tokyo, Sleeping Dogs, Prey, Yakuza franchise, Shenmue, etc. And I named those from memory without research.
@@RealGameClique This is an odd response- other games not related to AC feature asian male MCs, so it's okay that AC does not in any of its games. Also the game features 98% of asian men being slaughtered by one black man in this upcoming game probably will not make asian fans happy either.

But this misses the point: NONE of the AC games has an asian (i.e. oriental) male MC and AC Shadows had the opportunity to do it, but instead erased it for what honestly looked like an ESG motivated move. Nioh William Adams is loosely based on an actual historical figure who is a Samurai, and Tom Cruse's character is NOT the Last Samurai Watch the movie! And on top it all off, nobody has a problem with Yasuke being in the game...if he was a side character. Him being a protag is a problem because not only you are giving the writers limited options, but also lets the studio rewrite his entire history that featured a historical figure that did nothing throughout his life. Throughout the series up to Valhalla, you play a fictional character from the locations they're originated from through historical lens. Now you play as a historical African figure, who was never a samurai, he's a retainer/weapons bearer, and he never fought any battles except the one where he surrendered himself. And up from Syndicate to Valhalla, you get to play both male and/or female characters who are from the same ethnicity. Why Shadows, up until now, you get to play as a Japanese female but an African male? Now in this game, you somehow join forces despite that slaughtered her people, acted like "I know I destroyed your village, burned your house, and killed all of the people that you loved. Lets join forces!" You already broke the immersion before the game even released. What people want is historical authenticity. Places that looks accurate to the era it was in while people and famous figures in the time are authentic to how they act. How would you feel if an Assassin's Creed game takes place in an African setting, but the main character is Japanese or British? That wouldn't make sense. It's out of place. You have tons of Japanese people to choose from that impacted history in Feudal Japan vs 1 black guy that is out of place and did nothing that is impactful. Why not let the Japanese have their fun by letting them play as both male & female Japanese characters? We've been asking for a Japanese AC ever since AC1 and they have respected their culture in each games. But with the case of Japan, nope, gotta do it for DEI. Hell, at the end of Valhalla, they even changed the canon gender of Eivor to be female despite that all of promotional ads showed us canonically that's a man. Same with Odyssey; there were no female Spartans in Ancient Greece, but make Kassandra canon anyway. What's the point of picking a gender if the game reveals the canonical gender anyways?
Where was your paragraph during Edward Kenway in the African Carribean? You were perfectly fine with not giving a damn about "culture" back then Why not an African Kenway? Did you complain about Whitewashing Carribean African culture while playing that game?
Here’s the thing bub yasuke isn’t gay they never came out and said he was gay they only said they are returning the relationship feature that was in two of the previous games it has nothing to do with yasuke stop the cap
I have played many games where the main character was black (Mafia 3, Gta 5, Watch dogs 2 and Legion and so on...). It wasn't a problem because in these games it was believable. But a black gay samurai in 16th century Japan, it just doesn't work, It is impossible to get immersed in. If that makes me racist, so be it.
I have a real argument... It has been revealed that both Naoe and Yasuke identify in the game as LGBTQ+, which in turn, opens the door for possible romance options. And everyone is even more pissed than they already are! Why? Because they belive, for some BIZARRE reason, that they've made Yasuke gay. They haven't. It isn't a FORCE that Yasuke is gay, it is an OPTION to romance him with another man. You can reject the proposal and have no romance at all! The same people complaining about this are the very same people who played Odyssey and made Kassandra lesbian

The problem with this game is that it advertises it as historical fact. If it had been promoted on the premise that it was a completely fictional story, this wouldn't have been an issue. Nobunaga freed him from slavery and hired him, but he was not given a surname. If he could fight, why did he not do anything when Nobunaga was killed? The samurai who found him after the war thought that Yasuke had nothing to do with the battle between the samurai. Therefore, Yasuke was let go and his whereabouts are unknown. The problems with this game are as follows: "Martin Luther King Jr was merely a portable shrine held up by a powerful white man with a good heart. This is a historical fact." "Edison was not a great inventor, but a simple businessman who collected ideas from his talented black subordinates and made them into a business." "Haiti gained independence in 1804 thanks to the efforts of those with white blood, and black people alone could not have done such a thing." Japanese people feel discriminated against because the creators of this game think it is okay to treat Japanese history in this way. In fact, some people have fabricated proverbs that do not exist in Japan, such as the following, in relation to the drama "Shogun." 「There's a Japanese proverb that says for a Samurai tobe brave, he must have abit of Black blood. I'm Japanese, so I use the translation function. This game has a really strong influence, and facts have been altered and plagiarized, for some reason it has even developed into a racial issue, for some reason Japanese people are angry and complaining because the main character is black. This is Japanese racism! Or white people are pretending to be Japanese and posting racist comments. I learned that there are such opinions and articles from overseas. I understand that it's too late to stop selling it now. Some people may want to buy it at this stage. The original goodness of a game is that people who want to enjoy it can enjoy it. There are many Japanese people who don't mind the main character being black. It was fine as long as they could enjoy it purely. But there were too many problems that I couldn't forgive. The voices of us Japanese people have been ignored so much that even those who know the facts and criticize the game company together with us Please don't mistake them for racists. Japanese people want to preserve the facts and history left by their ancestors as accurately as possible. And we just don't want to be treated as a race with discriminatory opinions. But I also read interviews where the production team talked as if Japanese people were racist. But what makes us Japanese the most angry is that the producers and streamers stated that this is a historical fact and said that Japanese people are racist. Developers and streamers have also repeatedly made statements that can be interpreted as discriminatory against Japanese and Asians, and the producers' dishonesty is being revealed one after another. Of course, there were many fans who were disappointed that the main character was not Japanese even though the story is set in Japan. I think this time, it's a wonderful and enjoyable game for you guys. The visuals are certainly beautiful. But the four seasons were shown on the screen at the same time, cherry blossoms blooming in early spring, rice planting out of season, plants that only exist in autumn, etc., and I laughed because I thought it was a comedy. In Japan, the torii gate is a barrier that separates the sacred world of the shrine from the secular world where humans live, and indicates the entrance to the sacred world. It is not a village gate. The main character is a former slave named Yasuke, who certainly existed in Japan, but he was not a samurai and only served Oda Nobunaga for a short period of time until his death, so until recently he was little known in Japan. If it had at least been described as a Japanese-style parody fantasy fiction game from the beginning, I don't think Japanese people would have been so angry. It started with the unauthorized use of flags of modern Japanese organizations known for plagiarism, which I thought was odd as a Japanese person, but when I looked closely at the game screen, I could see that many images of people with various historical backgrounds in Japan that were on display as historical exhibits were used in the game, and that the people in those images were treated as NPCs. Images of paid Japanese content were also used, which may violate the terms of use. In fact, an image of a famous Chinese Buddha statue was also displayed, and for some reason the image was displayed inverted, completely ignoring the meaning of Buddha in Buddhist beliefs. For example, it was treated like an inverted cross. There was also a screen showing a modern construction rope tied to a tree, but even what I just mentioned is only a small part of the problem. Also, in an advertisement for a game aimed at Japanese people, the subtitles displayed on the screen were in Chinese, not Japanese. It was also strange that the advertising catchphrases were written in another language. Some people felt that they were being made fun of. They are deliberately stirring up anger among Japanese people. If this game is based on historical facts and the real Japan, it is unacceptable that the content is full of misunderstandings and prejudices, that the creator has no intention of learning about Japan, and that the seller has a bad attitude toward the game. Also, I would like the game company to stop treating the content of this game as if it were real information and to deliberately spread misunderstandings and prejudices against Japanese people around the world. In fact, after the content of the game was announced, someone rewrote the information about Yasuke on Wikipedia to match the content of the game, as if it were historical fact. I understand that it is too late to stop selling it now. Some people may want to buy it at this stage. But I just want the creator and seller to at least admit their mistake. Sorry for the long and confusing text. There are many Japanese people who don't mind the main character being black. But it's a deep-rooted identity issue. Japanese people really just don't want to be treated as a race that holds discriminatory opinions. I'm sorry if I've offended those of you who are looking forward to playing this game. But please try to understand, even just a little, how angry Japanese people feel. Please know the facts, even if just for now. This is a very real incident for the Japanese people. Please. Sorry if there are any typos in this translation.
I honestly don't think racism is the driving force behind the backlash. This game is coming from a company that uses race and gender like tools, and that's exactly what they're doing here. There's a reason people didn't raise hell when other main game characters were announced that just happened to be black. Believe it or not, the majority of us out here are not racist. People who judge others purely on something as insignificant as race (yes, its insignificant) are not worth anyone's time. If racism is anything meaningful, then it's a vulnerability. One that everyone is far better without.
You're right... but Of course the majority arent racist, but we dont have to be bad people to believe in bad ideas. (Not all of Germany was evil, but most Germans definitely believed the mustached guy was the "good guy" at the time.) Heres another logical phalacy: Edward Kenway (a White European man), is the protagonist in AC BlackFlag... a game set in the African Carribean Islands... See where I'm going with this? There was basically zero outrage for that game, in fact it's highly regarded (rightly so) - but ain't it funny how no one batted an eye for Kenway being a White MC in basically Africa? The underlying outrage is most definitely because Yasuke is Black, all other reasoning is secondary or really unimportant tbh. This isn't a new phenomena for Black characters in media. AC is historically INSPIRED, not historically accurate. In fact they've almost always never been that, there's mythical creatures in almost all the games. Its fiction, exaggeration is literally no big deal.
Accredited historians believe he was some sort of warrior (bushi). And Yasuke's popularity in Japan has made him a local legend, so who cares if a fictionalized version of him in a freaking video game about ALTERNATIVE history, plays with the details along eh edges. We're only having these discussions, across hundreds of videos on UA-cam, and thousands of posts on Social Media because we're EMBARRASSING OURSELVES again over a Black person in our favorite entertainment. This happened when sports in America were integrated, then movies, then TV, and now it's video games. I'm not concerned. Our kids will deal with this better.
It's a video games, make belief, its not real so it doesn't have to follow historical even, not even 10%. People are now making issue about any and everything things.
I didn't watch your video and I don't care to. But there's nothing wrong with Gamers voicing their opinions. And it has nothing to do with racism. It has to do with preference. Why is it okay for one side to cry preference but not the other? And using an argument about what every other game did is irrelevant. The subject is the Assassin's Creed game. The one many fans have been asking for for a very long time. There's nothing wrong with wanting to play play native character in a foreign land. There is zero wrong with wanting to do that.
After reading your full comment I decided to retract the first snarky comment in favor of actually answering you. We are in no way condemning those who have actual thoughtful feedback on AC and Ubisoft. We are fully aware of Ubisoft’s track record. The problem is with people who are actually echoing racist talking points in the guise of actual concern for gamers and the Asian community.
TL:DR We arent accusing all people with negative viewpoints of AC:S of being racist. We are accusing the racist of being racist. This is explained in the video you admitted to not watching though.
@@RealGameClique Racism shouldn't be brought up at all. That's a very small minority of people. It's like if I made a video where I said progressives are murderers because a few progressives are murders. The default for everything today from progressives is name-calling, gas lighting and being disingenuous. No reasonable discussions. No careful listening to the argument or concern. Just name calling and gas lighting.
They are an admittedly small but very loud crowd. We have to keep calling them out though. Racism that goes unchecked continues to grow. Regarding racism never going anywhere you are preaching to the choir 😪
(However there have been plenty of racists pissed about this)
I think the problem for me is the context in which this is being done, these devs are doing it for agenda pushing rather than actually trying to represent black people in a good way.
He was a bodyguard, not a samurai
Nah
No one batted an eye when they featured a White Edward Kenway in the damn carribean (a predominantly African region)
but somehow this where we draw the line about "respecting culture".
I wasnt convinced the first or second or third time it happened... but 100th?
You’re just racist with extra steps 😂

As a Japanese, I can confirm that Yasuke is not even mentioned in the Daimyoki(大名記) which record the names of all samurai and retainers under control, including those who made no notable contributions. Yet, they still declared him a samurai.
Our culture is rich, with many stories and notable figures known only to the Japanese. @@unyieldingrage1389 I definitely can agree completely understand you got to see the game play first
I just saw the trailer for AC Shadows last night and was blown away by how gorgeous it looks and the two characters Naoe and Yasuke.
There are legit criticisms of AC shadows, like the erasure of Asian males. Sad this is the response to those criticisms.
If I were a betting man I would be willing to gamble that 98% of the cast of that game will be Asian men 😒.
You were perfectly fine with not giving a damn about "culture" back then
Why not an African Kenway? Did you complain about Whitewashing Carribean African culture while playing that game?
I wonder if the black community will continue to support the game now that Yasuke is gay?

Here’s the thing bub yasuke isn’t gay they never came out and said he was gay they only said they are returning the relationship feature that was in two of the previous games it has nothing to do with yasuke stop the cap
I have played many games where the main character was black (Mafia 3, Gta 5, Watch dogs 2 and Legion and so on...). It wasn't a problem because in these games it was believable. But a black gay samurai in 16th century Japan, it just doesn't work, It is impossible to get immersed in. If that makes me racist, so be it.
That’s a fair point but since when does historical accuracy ever mattered in video games? Have you played Nioh???

They haven't.

"Haiti gained independence in 1804 thanks to the efforts of those with white blood, and black people alone could not have done such a thing."

The voices of us Japanese people have been ignored so much that even those who know the facts and criticize the game company together with us
Please don't mistake them for racists.
Japanese people want to preserve the facts and history left by their ancestors as accurately as possible.
And we just don't want to be treated as a race with discriminatory opinions.
But I also read interviews where the production team talked as if Japanese people were racist.
But what makes us Japanese the most angry is that
the producers and streamers stated that this is a historical fact and said that Japanese people are racist.
Developers and streamers have also repeatedly made statements that can be interpreted as discriminatory against Japanese and Asians,
and the producers' dishonesty is being revealed one after another.
Of course, there were many fans who were disappointed that the main character was not Japanese even though the story is set in Japan.
I think this time, it's a wonderful and enjoyable game for you guys.
The visuals are certainly beautiful.
But the four seasons were shown on the screen at the same time,
cherry blossoms blooming in early spring, rice planting out of season, plants that only exist in autumn, etc., and I laughed because I thought it was a comedy.
It started with the unauthorized use of flags of modern Japanese organizations known for plagiarism,
which I thought was odd as a Japanese person, but when I looked closely at the game screen,
I could see that many images of people with various historical backgrounds in Japan that were on display as historical exhibits were used in the game,
and that the people in those images were treated as NPCs.
Images of paid Japanese content were also used, which may violate the terms of use.
In fact, an image of a famous Chinese Buddha statue was also displayed,
and for some reason the image was displayed inverted,
completely ignoring the meaning of Buddha in Buddhist beliefs.
For example, it was treated like an inverted cross.
There was also a screen showing a modern construction rope tied to a tree,
but even what I just mentioned is only a small part of the problem.
If this game is based on historical facts and the real Japan, it is unacceptable that the content is full of misunderstandings and prejudices,
that the creator has no intention of learning about Japan, and that the seller has a bad attitude toward the game.
Also, I would like the game company to stop treating the content of this game as if it were real information and
to deliberately spread misunderstandings and prejudices against Japanese people around the world.
You're right... but
Of course the majority arent racist, but we dont have to be bad people to believe in bad ideas. (Not all of Germany was evil, but most Germans definitely believed the mustached guy was the "good guy" at the time.)
Heres another logical phalacy:
Edward Kenway (a White European man), is the protagonist in AC BlackFlag... a game set in the African Carribean Islands...
Im sure our parents thought the same thing 😖.
✊🏾✊🏾
It's a video games, make belief, its not real so it doesn't have to follow historical even, not even 10%. People are now making issue about any and everything things.
They’ll argue about the historical accuracy of a Black man in Japan within the same franchise that gave George Washington super powers 😅

Get it yassgay!!
Yaaass!!
@@RealGameClique That I can understand but that's still a very small minority of gamers and fans of the series.
Racist people are never gonna go away.
They are an admittedly small but very loud crowd. We have to keep calling them out though. Racism that goes unchecked continues to grow. Regarding racism never going anywhere you are preaching to the choir 😪
God definitely need to come back and punish us all! Except the children
