I love how the got the classic goofy/silly look of godzilla down with this one. I wish they would make a large 18-20+ in version to go with my mezco Kong.
I feel like we expect a bit too much out of a $23 figure. I mean, that's about the price of an average Bandai figure. Neca gives us the benefit of articulation for a price better than SHMA can offer. $23 vs $100? That's a huge difference. SHMA HAS to be superior to Neca. Being a casual 62 fan, this figure was absolutely perfect for me. I recommend buying these figures in person, that way you can pick out the best one. Even though I felt the quality was overall consistent between all the figures. Thanks for the review, S!

@@StevensToyReviews I'm sure it has to do with liscensing/copyright issues with TOHO. Maybe Neca isn't allowed to do a full-likeness, such as with the Atomic Breath (even the name was changed to Heat Ray Blast)

Just got mine recently. I order two (2) from BIGBADTOYSTORE also NECA Godzilla 1962 is a step in the right direction. As you mentioned, NO bendy WIRE at the end tail so this Godzilla will not have any broken wire or pop out wire to effect the looks. GREAT JOB NECA 👍 !

Yes, I purchased SHMA GODZILLA 1962 because I mostly collect S.H MonsterArts as you know Steven.
Great Review as always, I am just proud to have both figures in my collection now, since it’s one of my favorite Godzilla’s of all time. I have always truly enjoy watching Godzilla vs King Kong movie (1962) 😉!

I think it’s a Great 👍 Figure to purchase. I usually like the SHMA figures because that’s my comparison figures with NECA but in my opinion....You will not be disappointed with this figure .
I wish all of the NECA Godzilla figures had been given the same tail articulation and I also wish the people who work for NECA had released figures of how Kong had appeared of the 1962, 2017 and 2021 films too.
My jaw was off...the hinge, had to buy a second one. Going to try and repair the broken one.

This is my top 5 best neca godzillas ever
I'm somewhere in the middle with this figure. I was sort of disappointed that there was no ab crunch and the paint on the dorsal plates were chipping off forcing me to have to repaint the dorsal plates. However, I love that they made improvements with the tail and even though the face looks weird, I think it has its own unique charm to it.
No ab crunch? There's one on a double ball joint, maybe you might need to blast it with heat a bit more?
But yeah, they mixed improvements with some steps back

Definitely pair him with the mezco king kong of skull island. Its only $40 and its probably the best kong figure to date. If you do get it, remember to heat up all of the joints with a blow dryer, since they are a bit stiff out of the box.

Just got mine. LOVING IT SO MUCH!!! My only problem is that its fingers are fused together. This is my favorite Godzilla suit.

I think Neca should get Grove to do more Godzilla figures.. this is one of the most accurate depictions I’ve seen of Godzilla in their lineup.
I really want Toho/Bandai to give them the all clear to make the best Godzilla figure they can. I have no doubt in my mind that they would seriously give SHMA a run for its money, I mean Holy shit their Alien and Predator figures are great.

The foot on mine pops off too. But I gotta put a little force on it. I need to heat up the waist on mine a little more. I haven’t been able to get too much movement out of mine. I have gotten the legs to go out a little bit. But he’s Thicc so the they are limited. Elbows on mine aren’t really tight at all but that’s probably just a slight difference in QC Great review Steven!

I'm sad because I got mine last week and when I took it out of the box the jaw started to pop out and I saw that the left hand was swollen so I got to send it back and get a new one
I got mine today, very happy with it. i can easily skip on the SHMA version even now that the prices for one have gone up and beyond.
Would be nice, now that they seem to be doing more monsters other than Godzilla, if they did Kong as well. Id suspect that would come out more around the release of GvKK though

Here's a little story time on this boi, so I was put with the fam at Target, I was toy hunting for the 2019 Godzilla, I didn't find it but I did find the 1962, 1954 poster version, and 2014, since I didn't find it, I went to another Target, but that one didn't even have one NECA godzilla! So I now regret not getting the 1962.
There should be a 2000 Godzilla figure by Neca that would be epic and amazing!

At the base of the atomic breath piece you can see some holes in it that I'm pretty sure they put in there for the poster version of the 1954
Already tried the beam in the 54 mouth, the teeth don't line up.

The only problem I have with this figure....my figure...is that the mouth doesn't close. the same problem I had with my Neca NES Alien 3 figure where the mouth just won't close as if the mouth is molded to the head and not a separate piece.

Unfortunately, I had to super glue my Godzilla 1962's foot back on. No matter what I did, it just would not go back on. But, I'm still very happy with the figure!
I recommend Krazy glue I used it but didn't come out alot. It didn't move but doesn't come out easy I recommend it honestly :)

I just got this figure a few days back. I'd say that it's a nice figure more the most part. The paint is quite nice, and the articulation is decent. The eyes aren't quite right to me, however. They are looking too far forward to be accurate, which further detracts from the overall accuracy of the figure itself. The dorsal plates are great, but they're just a bit over painted in my personal opinion.
As for broken joints, my figures has issues with its left arm. It was detached in the package, which isn't good at all. Every joint is either stiff or overly loose, with no in-between. Kind of annoying, even after using a hair dryer.
Finally, the sculpt is great compared to NECA's previous releases, but it looks and feels off to me. It's just lacking in very specific areas, and while those imperfections might be minor at a glance, it becomes more apparent the longer you look. The figure looks very nice for the price, but yet leaves me wanting more.
Totally agree this figure isn't perfect - NECA didn't bring their A game with production value, but I give credit where credit is due for the sculptor and though it's stylized, it captures the feel of the suit, and considering it's $25, the inaccuracies are passable *by itself*. The actual production stuff, however, NECA just needs to up their game... but we'll have to wait and see.
@@StevensToyReviews It is now apparent to me that the NECA figure has a rough textured underside to its tail, which isn't accurate. Not sure if you want to include this in the figure fight, though.

NECA is buyer's remorse city. Had this guy and then I received the SHM 62... it came down to shelf "personality" for me. SHM produced something that comes to life; it's fun to display and actually play around with. It was worth $100 for me. Sold off NECA and haven't bought any of their product since. Nice review!
Necas most accurate godzilla figure it took em like 6 years to make a sculpt almost on par with monsterarts

Generally assume all neca figures have a bootleg. Just buy from officials sources, like BBTS, and you're good.
I think this is worth more than SHMA
When I had the SHMA out of the box for the size comparison section, I couldn't stop messing with it again. While the NECA is good, the SHMA is the better figure except when it comes to paint (and even then, if they'dve painted the nails, there'd be no contest).

funny cuz mine came with very loose and crooked jaw.....have to push and pinch around just to keep it in a proper position when trying to pose with its mouth open. Very annoying but manageable. too lazy to return it or exchange for another one.

This Neca Godzilla is absolute crap for me, it came with the right foot all broken, it just sticks upwards when I actually get it back on, absolutely horrible. Wish they put more care into online shipping

I personally thought this figure is so overrated. I bought it based on everyone saying this is better than the sh monsterarts. This figure has a skinny waist that looks ridiculous. He has an hourglass figure and looks like he's been waist training. I don't own the 1962 sh m.a. but the 1964 I own is infinitely better than this. I have a hard time believing the 1962 isn't of similar quality.
