Get better soon, Steve!! We’re all here for you!
Just simply epic
Thanks Tony, the Junkyard Jesus lead photo from your Mopar 400 low deck story from 1988-ish was a spiritual guide to my junkyard mission!
Legends of the people
Brother men
Steve hasn’t aged a day in 22 years. Still looks the same. Even the glasses 🤓
And the Herman Munster hair too !
Cuz he eats lockjaws food
Depends if he's dyed his hair lately or not. Some of the episodes he has alot of gray others he has the porn star black hair. 😅
@@charlesgreer7245It's "patina" you patinaphobe.
hopefully hes well....@@charlesgreer7245
Great seeing the first episode brought back a lot of memories. Hopefully we will see a new episode soon. Thoughts and prayers for you guys get well soon
Love the blast from the past…man seeing those cars in the junk yard took me right back to high school memories. Thanks for posting Steve.
Steve, it is just a pleasure to watch you. You are my favorite vehicle historian and enthusiast by far. It means a lot to you, and it comes through in what you share with us. Up to 40k! Can't wait for what I learn from you next! Stay warm!
That was awesome Steve!!!
Hi Steve. My name is Dale Benoit. I have been a mechanic for all of my life. I just wanted to say THANK YOU STEVE. I'm young enough to have missed the heavy years of American muscle cars and I'm to old to ever have had any interest in riders. I want to thank you for filling in many gaps and educational tidbits about many things in the automotive world that many of us would have never known about if you did not share them with the world. I seriously admire your passion and knowledge of the industry. Keep crawling Steve. Thanks again
Still current. Excellent
I was born in august 1999, now here I am enjoying all these junkyard crawls!
Here I am in the year 2022 watching a junkyard video you made in 1999. And what to my surprise do I see, a Chrysler "K" car high in the sky on a front end loader. I'm still driving my "K 'car my mom bought NEW in 1987. And then, I see a picked 1967 Mustang, and guess what, yes you heard it here first, I still have my 1967 Mustang I bought Thanksgiving day weekend, in 1979 foe $150.00. So cool, not only are these cars, survivors, at age 72, so am I. I enjoy your videos Steve, one of the few informative and comprehensive videos presentations seen in this vast jungle of junkyard videos.
I LOVE 400 small block Chevys! They were discontinued for passenger cars after the 1974 model year as Steve says but, they were used in light trucks and vans through 1980. If you're looking at a small block that's missing it's balancer and/or flywheel for one reason or another, you can still easily spot a 400 because they all had 3 bosses cast in each side of the block for the freeze plugs. Some only used 2 plugs but the third boss was still in the casting, it just wasn't drilled. Other small blocks only have 2 bosses cast in.
Loved this! Was really well produced especially for back then. It’s fun to see how it’s changed so much. Lololol that poor RX-7!
We're all pulling for you Steve. Hope to see you soon
What a treat to learn about so many things concerning Cars ! Wishing the Best for your health Steve .
Steve, You should have earned an Emmy or an Academy Award for that performance.!
Steve....your videos are brilliant and unique...great fun to watch...
I met Ro on the woodward cruise about 2004ish...? We were there in our regular spot back then and my buddy Rick with his Hurst Olds was parked next to my not so nice 1950 Ford. Trunk was open and we cracked a beer. Rick and i both immediately recognized Ro coming down the street alone with a big ole camera hanging on his neck. This was way before noon that day...i hollered at Ro and called him over. Offered him a beer and he accepted. We talked only 5 min or less...i thanked him for his unusual writing style adding to the editing style! We shook hands and he went on his way.
Ro, if you read this i hope you remember because it meant alot to me at the time and still does!
You and Mike are killing it at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction, thanks for the entertainment and knowledge!
Yes! Thanks for digging these up! Hopefully you can keep putting these segments on your channel
If you could put more episodes it would be amazing!!!! love it!!!
One landmine I hit here and there is how in those days BEFORE "free internet background music", there were one-under "rentals" on generic soundtrack songs. Well, there's an algorithm that sniffs for later use and triggers a "copyright claim". This has happened to a couple of GOOD segments (like the Chevette 500 story..hint, hint). I'm working to scrub the music. Please stay tuned....
I actually had my car picked up by the forklift at a You pull yard. They told the new kid to go get those cars in the parking lot that just got dropped off. He decided my Towncar, with 78K on it, in the back corner was included. Took em more than 2 months just to give the claim to their insurance
Ouch, I'm hoping your rocker panels, drive shaft and exhaust system weren't crunched...
@@SteveMagnante most of the damage was cosmetic. Luckily the payout was 75% more than I paid for the car two months before the Incident. Two tone paint jobs aren't cheap to repaint.
That's awesome I ended up building that junkyard jewel 350 with the vortec head and the comp extreme energy cam and put it in my 67camaro it ended up running 13.01 105 mph fun times thanks Steve
That IS a blast from the past. I loved the Junkyard Jewels series, used to crawl the northern California boneyards from about 1986 through about the early 1990s, when there was no more vintage iron there. Steve, were you the editor during the BadSeed
Cad 500 Chevette? That was incredible, led to several cadillac 500 hot rods. Good times
As a young gearhead without his license yet, the junkyard jewel series was my absolute favorite!!!
God I wish junkyards still looked like this.
Unfortunately they don’t sucks.👍
Yeah those third gens lined up like that....dreamland
They still look like this where I live, the land that time forgot😎
@@DumPhuc same here! Cars from the 60s are at my local yard
@@projectdriven4493 nice!!...for me it's got it's good and bad points tho,I went to get some parts at the yard today and ended up grabbing a 1959 dodge custom royal 2 door hardtop ffs lol..i need another old car like I need an infected scrotum😂..it seemed like a good idea til I got home and thought where the fuck am I going to park this 1 now!
I was about 12-13 reading hotrod, junkyard jewels, watching you on TV. The moments that stuck out the most in my mind was an episode where you mention the pontiac 8 lug wheels and also the famous chevette. I remember the episode starting with corvettes and led to the "vette" with an 8.2. It had me scratching my head until the reveal. Love it, thanks for the memories!
I graduated from high school in 2003, and I used to wait until the library was changing out magazines, and I would drag home hot rod and car craft that I scavenged from the trash. Didnt you write for car craft as well? Its so funny, I specifically remember being exited about any of your articles, and I also remember Finnegan from his days at sport truck magazine, and David Freiburger while he wrote for car craft and hot rod. All you guys formed me as a car guy, and I am so thankful for your influence. Thank you for everything
Love these videos.....I myself am a seasoned veteran of pushing through raspberry bushes, bees nests, and poison ivy just to see an old base model 64 mustang or 4 door tri five chevy in some forgotten corner of the junk yard.
Might never see a real judge gto or other rare car in the wild but is fun taking a look anyway and imagining the first owner of the wreck discussing loan payments with the dealer it was bought from, what kind of life the car had etc.....
Never change Steve, love the content!
Steve you the man !!..You knowledge is overwhelming. 22 more
Steve you are an encyclopedia and an inspiration, all while being amazingly interesting!! Thank you for Everything You do!! ❤
Steve... Thank you so much for bringing the old Hot Rod TV show back to life!
O man... This is gold Steve. So hilarious from start to finish. I am having a crack here mate. Thanks for sharing with us.❤😊😅
Prayers sent for your full recovery, Paisan !
Steve, Awesome video as normal thanks for all you do for us.
We all Love You Steve! We wish you the best and fastest recovery and we are here for you when you get back to doing the things u used to to. If that don't happen, guess what...we STILL Love you, man!
That was awesome. Keep on crawling!
There was so many good scores in the yards back then.
I loved those days.
this was great! thanks for posting. Praying for you Steve!
Now that's reality tv I can wrap my head around.
So ahead of his time. Great footage!
That was time travel quality junk yard crawl! Don't stop suprising your fan base. So cool
That FC was a junk on '99, but it's kinda a gold today.
I remember when the yards were full of A & F bodies, lots of good interiors too.
A flash from the past.. thanks for sharing that Steve that was awesome. Sounds like you've been in the automotive industry for a long long time,, hats off to you brother..
And thanks for bringing me along
Steve, you still are the professor to the rest of us!!!
i remember the cadilac and chevette series....never built 1 but the cadillac tech was great...who knew a head swap on the 500 cad would give you that much of a compression jump
“The Bad Seed”
The 500 Caddy Chevette was my introduction to Steve. I loved that article so much and Steve stood out so much for me that I remembered him for 20 years.
I loved doing the Torque Pig Caddy 500 series. THANKS FOR WATCHING, Steve Magnante
Been watching Barrette-Jackson on DIY and your the information you provide is fantastic. Used to fast forward to cars that I have interest in but I now watch most of the program to hear your comments on all the vehicles.
That Village People album was my first album when I was a kid. I still have it!
Sure hope your healing quickly Steve!!!
The talking, informative, vehicle encyclopedia, thank you 🙏
Excellent first Crawl. Cheers 🇨🇦
Always a dart lover !
Man what a great retro video! Very interesting what you could find back then! That you wish you can find today!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Hope you’re doing better Steve! Thinking about you every day.
Outstanding - I truly enjoyed Hot Rod TV. Great content, and several laugh out loud moments.
That was awesome! More please!
Glad I finally ran across your channel! For years I was a Hot Rod saturday viewer-sometimes I'd even watch the rerun on tues/wed(?). I remember this episode when first released. As then, today the first thing I noticed on your producers car was the fit of the front panels/hood. When you were 'finding' the slots I remembered the forklift.
Man I've a lot of catching up to do!!
Thanks for sharing that Steve ! Awesome "Cheesiness" from the past LOL !! It was also good to hear you mention Terry McGean. I have known Terry since High School !!
The good old days. Thanks for the video 👍
Such a knowledgeable person. Really respect his work.😎
Steve the encyclopedia of golden junk lol. Love this channel and don't even miss the junkyard gold effects
I appreciate your sense that glitz and glossy production values are nice but NOT ESSENTIAL to good content. I make with what is IMMEDIATELY at hand. THANKS FOR WATCHING, Steve Magnante
Praying for you Steve and Family .... get well soon bud!
Awe steve this is great. Would like to see more . I really like the walking around and talking about multiple cars then stop at a interesting one to talk about
Get well soon.Have watched you for years.Know's more about cars than anyone i know of.
I followed your Chevette build back then.
That was so cool.
Lots of other articles too.
Loved that vid!!!! Thanks for showing it
I do remember the junkyard series from Hotrod Magazine, also I remember the Chevette that ended up with Caddy 500 in it that Ro mentioned in that video. It was called "Project Bad Seed" if my memory serves correctly. Had to sit in the rear seats with a firesuit on or the dragstrip wouldn't let you run it.
The library in highschool had a subscription to Hot Rod and Carcraft. I would spend my lunch period in the library reading those articles. I remember reading the Articles where you stuffed that 500ci Cadillac in the Chevette…. Awesome.
I totally remember you wearing the white lab coat in the old hot rod magazines 99 is the year I got to meet you on Power tour
Yeah so I could watch a couple hundred episodes. Keep up the good work steve!
Making me feel old. The Bad Seed was my favorite Hot Rod mag car of all time. I was in high school and the idea of a zero effs low buck drag car was just plain awesome to me. In the twenty plus years since then I've always had a preference for weird and fast over shiny and predictable. Thanks Steve.
Another great video Steve get well soon
That's was a great video! I miss the old days in the born yards.
You're a legend! Keep it up steve big fan of yours
Now everyone and their mother is doing these type of videos. Without Steve's wealth of knowledge and humor. Plus great editing
Wow! This video so cool thank you for keeping this idea alive. I run a salvage yard in Ohio no gems hiding here unfortunately. I love all of your content it give me hope that not all the cool old sheet metal is gone.
another GREAT 1!
Great story enjoyed it keep them coming ....
That was so cool takes me back pls tell me you have more and Steve knew this old cars would be worth lots of money if I would have hit the like button 100 times
That was great, I loved it!
That was great, thanks!
Bless you Steve!!
My gawd is there anything Steve doesn't know? I totally enjoyed this and hope he recovers quickly from his current brain infection situation. He's a treasure.
Love the vintage metal , Had to pause & study the Japanese motorcycle graveyard.
This is Good Stuff from the beginning.👍
I really enjoyed Junkyard Crawl in Car Craft magazine. I still love digging through junkyards looking for parts for my projects.
The glory days of the junkyard was the late 70's to early 80's when all the muscle cars had been used up, and sent to the junkyard. In the late 70's I found a 1970 Buick GS Riviera with a 455 and a T400 transmission that I grabbed as an extra engine and trans for my 1970 Buick GS Skylark.
Love your work man.hello from New Zealand 🔧🇳🇿
Great episode!
Its so sad seeing all those cars that were undesirable back then but are getting popular now. So many classics gone forever
Excellent!
Very cool Steve!
That was cool. Thanks for that.
Growing up we used to go to the junkyard every Saturday during the spring and summer. Those were the days picking car parts.
I remember an episode of hot rod TV that inspired me to put a sunroof in my 70 Newport custom! My buddy worked at Calumet Auto Werckers back in the 80s and he got me a couple of aftermarket sunroof's and I was watching the episode and said that doesn't look hard! So I went out to the garage and set the sunroof on the car lined it up and marked it! So I was looking for a jigsaw and all I could find was the circular saw! So I used it to cut the whole did a pretty good job put the sunroof in silicone it and screwed it down! It never leaked at all !
I always liked your Hot Rod appearances.
Got to love that yard in Ontario Ca! I miss the older Mopars. About 1986 Slant sixes where everywhere, Western Sport Special Darts could be seen, A100 vans too. Oddities I remember were cars like a 72 B body wagon slant six. Curious Yellow 71 Coronet 2 door and a 70 Dart 4 door Panther Pink. 72 GMC Sprint also...
This is gold love it.
That’s great stuff!
Hey! I just watched this yesterday on the old "Hot Rod TV" episodes on the Motor Trend channel.
