Bea Arthur is such a treasure to the world!! I love her so much. I'm 17 and I only knew her as Dorothy at first and I fell in love with her acting. Then a few years ago I looked around and found Maude and I fell in love again. Bea was such a great actress and she is so greatly missed. Truly a Golden Girl!!
Absolutely loved Maude..not only was it one of the best written show of the 70's, the cast was great ! Witty, progressive, sign of the times.. loved Maude and Vivian ! Walter and Arthur, Mrs. Naughatuck ...
RIP, Bea. I loved the joy and happiness you left us with all of your amazing work. There will never be another one like you. Thank you, Maudie/Dorothy/Yente!
I loved Bea Arthur in both "Maude" and "The Golden Girls". Also, on 'All in The Family'. The couple episodes she starred in, and sparred with Carroll O'Connor, as "Archie" were classics. I always wished that she had interacted more with "Archie". He and "Maude" had great fights! I loved the one about Franklin Delano Roosevelt!
I grew up watching Bea on Maude. I WISH they would release the rest of the series on DVD. I also WISH TVLand would stick to its roots and program classic television.... Miss you Bea!
5:15 - A comment on her timing - Yes, she had it - she truly was a master of timing. Thank God she liked the Norman Lear script or else someone else would have played Maude and that is just unimaginable.
Archie Bunker lived at 704 Hauser street Queens The facade of the house shown is actually 89-70 Cooper Avenue, Glendale, NY. the semiattached house at 89-70 Cooper Avenue in Glendale has a "estimate" (its supposed "market price") of $565,000 as of January 2008.
I loved the show. In more ways than one, was a groundbreaker. Tackled some tough issues, also showed that liberals don't have all the answers and solutions either.
☆☆βεα ☆☆ Thank you for all your work, To bring such happy entertainment into our generation's lives! From the start of All in the Family, Maude & Golden Girls. Rest in Peace Pussy cat #1! £ονε γα!
she's my favorite actress who could easily beat the shit out of me. RIP Beatrice, you will be missed by millions and will always be known to me as Dorothy Zbornik
I LOVED Bea Arthur but, the Golden Girls was the ultimate ensemble cast. They were ALL great, and worked so well together. They were all funny in their own way. Maud was great too, I wish they had done more episodes. We'll miss you Bea!
Whether it be Maude or Dorothy, Bea you will always be one to remember. Man I was so upset when I found out that she and Estell were the firt two to pass away from the Golden Girls. Good thing I have the complete series to look back on and enjoy.

It's obvious, yet amazing. She's not Maude, she's not Dorothy. She's someone else entirely.

What a classic she is~ Irreplaceable..simply, truly irreplaceable.
What about the house use as the exterior shots in the opening of 'Maude'? Anyone know if that house was really in Tuckahoe? Is the house still there?
Great interview. Thanks for sharing.

Wasn't Mike the first to argue with Archie?
Wasn't into Maude as much...even though the show ran for almost 10 years...I felt she did a much better acting job in Golden Girls.
They really need to bring this show back- But with "Maude" as a conservative reactionary.
@dobb673 stop being mean
Has anyone anywhere ever made sure this person is not really a man?
