I had like 40 more items than needed and still only got around 2k. When I made it look good, I got more. A big problem that I am facing is that most events cause women characters to gain more. I did a test with 4 accounts and the 2 women characters made more stones when everything was the same. Those votes matter. Which is why there are UA-camrs that show their picture and they always max.
I think you are right that women character bring in more votes--not that I think that is fair. I try to vote for men characters when they show up and have completed the instructions. I've also noticed certain styles are definitely more popular. Dressing the character up helps too. And good lighting can really help the picture get a lot of votes. With my DreamSnaps, I've had the same thing happen. I sometimes rank low when I have a ton of items, but also can rank high with very few items. It can be difficult to figure everything out. They make it a challenge! lol
