Thank you so much for posting this Lola. I was hired by E! to do the pageant history and appear in it. I've judged over 20+ state pageants for the Miss USA system. Was looking for this everywhere for years. So appreciative.
I remember watching this pageant and it was so close and competitive! And Shauna was right: She did nail the last question. No doubt about it. I think Massachusetts was crowned because the judges either thought she was better looking (it is a beauty pageant) or (as people including judges from the Trump era have mentioned) the winner is chosen and her runner-ups before the last question is asked.
Still shocked that they didnt want 2 former Miss Teen USA's in the top 10. Iowa should have been called but i heard they were only gonna let 1 in and it was CA I wonder if Iowa and CA ever talked
Another thing to consider... After Brooke Lee (miss USA 1997) won miss Universe, and her 1st runner up took over the title (who was also a former miss Teen USA), I wonder if the miss USA org, wanted back to back winners, that were former miss Teen USA? I WONDER if that affected or influenced the end result! I am one of those FANS, that trully thought California had won, after the final q&a round. ALTHOUGH Massachusetts, had led During the SS and EG rounds!
Guess I shouldnt assume that just because you won Miss Teen USA it means you should be called at USA. Some Miss Teen USA's didnt win the state. Examples.. Ashley Coleman..Christie Lee Woods@@toddmerritt960
Keep in mind , that year it was the "OVERALL" impression. Calif's answer to the final question seemed too rehearsed where as Mass was natural. Mass was well ahead of CA in other categories@@rolanobando2963
I agree, Iowa Jamie Solinger was very immature as Miss. Jamie also wasn't strong in SS in Teen or Miss. I can see why she didn't make the top 10 at Miss USA and it's not because the MUO only wanted 1 former Miss Teen USA in the top 10. She scored really high at Teen probably because the judges wanted her to win.
The days of pageants like these are over. One needs long to look at the Miss USA patent this year held just last week to see that times have changed. Such a shame.
@christianraularroyo2497 very low budget! The director should have gotten volunteers to help. Both pageants are going down the drain! I'm scared to see how Miss Universe will be.

You can’t base your decision just on the final question @@baelfiregonzales4072

IKR! Did you see the Miss USA and Teen USA? Very bland!
@@msrain1235 Girl! Don't even get me started! They were horrible. Boring, low budget.

Do you have video behind the scenes miss america 2000?
