I am sickened. Devaluing everything about these girls: telling them that only external beauty matters (defined by WHOM??), BUT their looks cannot be their own and must be faked in everything. I would love to know what happened to many of them -- were they EVER able to get back their self-esteem and self-worth?

I remember watching this pageant and it was so close and competitive! And Shauna was right: She did nail the last question. No doubt about it. I think Massachusetts was crowned because the judges either thought she was better looking (it is a beauty pageant) or (as people including judges from the Trump era have mentioned) the winner is chosen and her runner-ups before the last question is asked.

The days of pageants like these are over. One needs long to look at the Miss USA patent this year held just last week to see that times have changed. Such a shame.

There is nothing good about this whole thing. These people are totally creeping me out and I'm not even in the room with them.

I do wonder how or why the American rep's sash was changed from "USA" (1951-1994) to "United States" in 1995 (to the present)? Same thing with Miss United Kingdom (1951-1999), they "broke-down" into Misses Englad, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland since 2000.

‘If she wins, I win. If she loses, I lose’. Scary.

Are the stage mothers doing this with their children because the kids love it or are the mothers living vicariously through their children? It looks like child abuse to me.

Pretty girl, but an unattractive crier and she does this tongue thing over and over when standing in the final top two waiting for the announcement .

This is so disturbing. Controlling weird men controlling a woman…. Ugh! I hope she went on to have a decent career and not parade her body around and being told what to say and think by these men.

Worst winner in this edition. That Latina comment on Deshauna undeserving place Top 6 in Miss Universe 2016, while that Latina only place Top 15 in Miss USA 2003.

I thought Tennessee was going to win until the final question. I knew it was over for her once she gave that answer. Alabama, in my opinion, could’ve been a good choice! She was tall, smart, beautiful and probably would’ve made it to the top 10 at MU!
