Starting a NEW Perennial Bed Over at My Mom's House! | Gardening with Wyse Guide

- A new project over at my mom’s house has started! This is a new perennial bed for an area that was rather drab before we began. It’s also a way to hide some unsightly electrical boxes while adding color that Mom will be able to see from indoors. I’ll follow up this video with part two coming in about a week!

From my farm to your home. 🏡
My name is Kaleb Wyse and here, you will find delicious recipes, videos from my farm, garden, and fun home projects. My knowledge has been earned from years of home cooks and farmers in my family. wyseguide.com
A farm is much more than a house to live in; it’s a lifestyle. My passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with my mom in our expansive farm yard, my love for baking came from innumerable short walks to my grandma’s house to make cookies, and as a farmer, my dad taught me that we are the stewards of our land.
So whether you live in a city center or have decided rural life is for you, I hope to inspire you with the projects and recipes I use in daily life. We can’t all live on a farm, but we all need farms in our lives. From the dirt in my vegetable garden to the flour in my kitchen, I’ll show you everything I love to do. - Навчання та стиль
Your mom is so blessed to have such a wonderful son. Great job with on the new flower beds 👍👍
❤
Bro seems like the kindest soul on earth. His videos just bring me peace it's hard to explain
Your videos are so informative.
What a helpful son you are.
I am sure your Mom appreciates all your help.
Your Mom is blessed with a great Son like you!💖
That architectural pieces are so beautiful and functional! 🥰🇨🇦
Kaleb I love following along watching your garden grow. Your attention to detail and neatness amazes me💕💕💕 never been to Iowa but love the farmland❤️
Your mom is so lucky to have you kaleb ❤️😊
I so agree that a clean edge really makes a garden pop ! I started enlarging my beds last fall, applying compost and applied compost again in the spring before the planting season. The only thing is I have to control myself and not buy more plants where then I’ll have to enlarge the beds even more, lol 😂 🥰🇨🇦
I enjoy watching new gardens come alive. It's satisfying to see the beautiful process.
Can't wait to see your other future plans for the garden. Bonny
It’s interesting and informative to hear your thought process on designing a new area
Hi Kaleb! I only discovered your channel late last year. I really enjoy your gardening videos and have learned a lot from watching them. Look forward to them!
Love the benches! Great find ❤
I’m about to say something I never thought I would say … I have serious bench envy - wow!!! 🤩 I’m wanting to landscape my very narrow, full sun, Iowa 5b front yard this year, so this will be so helpful - thanks Kaleb!! 🌽
Can't wait to see plant choices!
Those architectural pieces are awesome. I love the scroll work. What a find. So generous of you to place them in your Mom’s garden. It’d be hard for me to part with them.
Love your channel!
Kaleb, does your family farm the large area around your homes? I have always been curious about that. I would guess your homes are not just "islands" around someone else's farmland. You do very nice landscape work.
Love architectural pieces in the garden, adds so much!
Hi Kaleb, I’m just hoping you and your family are okay after the devastating tornadoes. Stay safe, love your channel
How do you come up with all of your ideas. I can't wait to see when it finishes up. Will be awesome and beautiful. Love all of your video. Thanks so much for sharing ♥️ ❤❤❤❤
I’ve start using sod in the bottom of some of my planters and it does a nice job of keeping the container moist. It worked really well with some potatoes I planted in a container. I love all the architectural salvage pieces you find. You are such a sweet son. 🌸🌿🌿
Omg... best part os your gardening partner... LOVE KIP!
Love the concrete art and structure - thank you for the step by step of creating a garden bed. Looking forward to the next one! Your soil looks lush and healthy.
I love what you’re using for the benches, you have an excellent eye!! It’s gonna be beautiful once you plant. You are a wonderful son!!🩷
It is going to look amazing! Love the two pieces you placed at the end of the video! Can’t wait to see the next video!
I’ll check back to admire your beautiful garden design 👏👏💕💕🌸🌸👩🌾
The seat stones are gorgeous! This will be stunning!
This is exactly what I have been looking for in a garden vlog, thank you!!! The architectural stones are fabulous!
Ooh I can’t wait to see how this develops and what you do in your garden! 💚
You’re such a good son!🥰
Those sandstone pieces are beautiful love them so much❣️
What an interesting project !! Can't wait to see what plants you will be installing!!!
Going to be so awesome
Why not put up a decorative fence/wall in front of all the electrical boxes and maybe plant some kind of vine to cover.
Awesome bench
I so agree about the need for architectural pieces to keep the garden feeling like it has rooms. I as well live in a rural area and my yard is quite large which can be an issue when you really want to have a full garden. Thanks
Cannot wait to see the final results.
Wow..fantastic video. Can't wait to see the final bed.
This is very timely. I am in the planning stage of making a big flower bed to cover and old shed we cannot get rid of yet. And a little narrow bed(maybe 4-5ft wide) in our front yard that gets full sun as well to separate our property from our neighbor who has already planted trees and shrubs on our property thinking it’s still theirs🤦♀️
Those bench stones are amazing!!
Looking forward to seeing what you do to make this space beautiful! I know you will 😊. I love those stone benches 😮😁
This is going to look wonderful.
I sure wish I had your energy! Every year I make the flower gardens and veg garden smaller. If I don't watch out I will be down to one pot per garden.
I hope no damage from Tuesday storms.
That soil looks unbelievable!!!!
Thank you I love your channel and learn so much from you!@! GOD BLESS HAPPY PLANTING!!
love the stone benches.
I love the architecture pieces! Nice job.
Thanks for sharing this! ❣️
Love today’s video, you are so fortunate to have such great soil! I have clay and rock, very hard to dig and make beds!
You are truly amazing ,love all your videos❤

A large yard is an UNDERSTATEMENT 😳

You are planting a great garden story for next generations. Awesome
Love those two stone blocks you placed prior to the plantings! Absolutely perfection!
Love the advice..looks great

I love the way you set up this area for a successful and beautiful flower bed. ❤
Love the prep and the features you added
Beautiful stone pieces!
Can't wait to see the next video for this bed! Love the architectural stone pieces 🩷
I loved this video.. what a beautiful area. looking forward to what is next..
Well planned!👏👏👏👏👏 l started using your edging method . It works great!😊😊
Love the benches-what a great find! QUESTION: How do you keep the weeds out? I know the top dressing will keep them out for a while, but don’t the weeds eventually start? I used to use the black weed cloth but now I realize that was somewhat of a mistake. Suggestions?
Edging. I want to know how you do it and the tools you use. Love your videos!
🥰✅👍
Where do you buy your Land and Sea? I can’t find it anywhere near me in Cedar Rapids
I found it at Cedar River Garden Center in Palo and also Fleet Farm
Will you be putting in any annuals? Anything you do is always gorgeous!
I live in Des Moines & I order mine from Amazon. 🙂 I also get BioTone there.
I'd like your thoughts and opinions on how to handle areas that get 2 different environmental conditions in one season. I have areas that flood in the spring and then very little water in the summer. Also areas that get the same amount of sun & shade. Do treat as shade or sun area? I have had to move plants multiple times due to changing conditions in the same spot.
Where did you get the half moon edger? Love your videos.
Doesn’t tilling your soil bad for the microbe environment in the soil like worms ?
Where could I get an edger like that? I love watching your videos.
Hi there! You can find the exact model I use under the "shop" section of my website. Scroll down to "garden accessories" and you will find it there 😊
Kaleb, do you have a good recommendation for planning apps to help plan gardens?
When you mulch do you put mulch into the trench you made along the edge?
Yes, I do! The trench allows for the mulch to sit below the edge of the grass, meaning my mower deck can ride just over the bed. It cuts the grass but doesn't hit the mulch in the bed.
I am starting lavender garden. We have horrible clay dirt. I have some top soil to admen my soil. Should I mulch ?
Are.any of the plants you'll be putting in one's that flower with color?
Yes, definitely! Black-eyed Susan being just one... I'm also utilized some plants with colorful foliage to add variety. 🌿
Weeds...what do you do to prevent weeds? I'm constantly plucking weeds
What brand is your edger? I can’t find one with a handle.
I use the Radius Garden brand! If you visit my website, you can find the link to it on the "shop" page under "garden accessories" 😊
@@WyseGuide Thank you!
