Back in 2015 when I discovered this song, I was on my final school trip in the Netherlands (I´m from Germany). And we were on a sailing boat, the weather was nice, sun was shining. I settled down put my beats on and listend to this song while watching out at the horizon on the isle sea. It was breathtaking. The feel of freedom I discovered in this moment was unreal. Thx Thomas!

Тhe cuckoo calls, early in the morning for St. George's day
It calls on an apple tree
On Petrovka tree, on Petrovka in the middle of a village
What it means, when it calls?
    - Younger girls and brides
    And young, young men
    Pick all kinds of flowers
    Early on St. George's day
Flex dew wreaths, knead knit sweet bread
    Slaughter a splotch-faced lamb
Early in the morning on St. George's day

I come back to this song often. There is something spiritual and energetic to this song - the buildup, the voices, the sound scapes. It lights up my heart and fires up my imagination - to imagine a better life and a better world for us all.

TSFH is a whole other world. A world that cannot be understood by everyone. Im following their work since my childhood and their music feels way different than other musicians'. I can't imagine any other studio to make such music. That's when you know, what you're seeing is totally unique. When you can't find any similarities with other songs. TSFH's songs are FULL of emotions. Every second, every moment tell a story. A story, figured out by ones brain. These masterpieces greatly helped me when I started writing my books about drama, fantasy and romance. Books that are fully about emotions. A huge thanks for Thomas, your songs always help me with my personal problems. Im writing this comment from my homecountry, a small country in Central Europe, between the Carpathian Mountains, Hungary.

This is so beautiful! St. George is the patron saint of knights, soldiers, archers, scouts, and fencers. It addresses young girls and brides, presumably because they have brothers, husbands, or fathers fighting in battle.

      A non-literal translation is:
A cuckoo started singing early in the morning,
Early in the morning on St. George's day.
It sang to young lads and maidens:
Get up, make some chaplet of flowers,
      And prepare yourselves for celebration.

    *The Colors of Love:*
4:56 That moment when you find that one color that fills the void or missing piece within your soul, making you feel complete.
0:00 The syncopated questioning of whether or not it may indeed be love, do I or do I not?
0:30 That small voice and flame in your gut tells you to make a strike and hope your efforts are not in vain
1:03 Be it intimate or casual all relationships rely on a bond to some emotional level, resulting in a universal feeling: Joy
3:52 After what seems like ages, together in a time of pure happiness and joy and possibly overwhelming emotions you may hold toward another being you desire to take it a step forward.
4:15 It's like a refreshing sight, a new page or starting over, when you realize that small voice and flame that once flickered has shown you the path to filling that void in your heart.
4:56 That moment when you find that love and fill the void in your heart. Two separate entities become one emotionally attached and dependent on each other for not only moral but esteem and factors of true love.
5:46 Just remember, love can stop just as abruptly as it began and is no overnight or first sight sign.
It takes years of mingling, culture, diversity and compromise for it to be true love, as the song states.

Knappy aye, love knows no boundaries, no race, creed, no gender. hell it's things like this that make me love the Mass Effect Trilogy. and as shown in the Mass effect games when two people of entirly different races fall in love with each other all the barriers of race or gender are no more. all this eventually lead me to toy with a few new concepts that were not shown in the trilogy. including that of how a relationship between a Human male and a Turian female would work. Turian females have next to none of the things that us humans are programmed to find attractive. yet me and a surprisingly large amount of other people have found them attractive anyway being the bunch of Xenophilles that we are :D. we also noted that it was a missed opportunity on Bioware's part.

That's the payoff! Most music can't pull that off, most songs don't try to build for a payoff and those that do don't always succeed at it. It's one of the things that make this song a great, and one of Bergersen's best.

It's not wrong that a picture tells a thousand words.
But a great piece of music inspires emotion, enthralls its audience, conveys a meaning that is wholly different to each and everyone to hear it, and stays with a listener long after the last note plays in a way no other artistic medium can ever hope to achieve.

As some of you comment, yes, Thomas used lyrics from the bulgarian folk song "Zakukala e kukuvitsa"
I have search and found the "Phonetic" of the bulgarian lyrics, but Thomas made a mix of the verses, is not as the original and it repeat some phrases and words. I took the job of listen and select the phrases according of this masterpiece.
Here is the result. Note: "mislae" and "na" is not from the original song I tried to found by ear what words might be and those two might be wrong (and yes "cuckoo" like the bird, the original song have a cuckoo impresion in the lyrics). Greetings from Mexico from a big, big fan of Thomas Bergersen.
Really hope you like it, as a Thomas B. fan I know what is to search and search the bulgarian lyrics of some of Thomas songs and no results on the "latin" phonetic :P I made my best to get this.

Bulgarian here. First of all i am astounded by the fact that you've made so much effort in order to make it latin alike. And in the verse where you wonder what the words mean - its kukovitsa e, not kucko misae (кукувица е) where "e" is the 3p.s. like "she is" (the bird). Also the word is pronounced differntly in order to rhyme. Sorry for my bad English :D i haven't been using it for the past few years. Have a good day!

Alex Kotsev Wow! Thanks a lot! I was making the lyrics just by ear with the original text on hand not knowing the real meaning of the lyrics. Now with your help and with the comment of +TheNexusChronus I can find a meaning of the text and the correct way that the lyrics should be. Now with knowing the meaning and the correct phonetic, the lyrics would be like this (sorry my bad english):
In Zakukala e kukuvitsa (TheNexusChronus put kukuvica but in the original song written in english phonetic they used the "s" and I use that one because I can hear the choir pronunce the "s") so:
      Zakukala e kukuvitsa
(Uh -or- Um -just for rhyme-) Rano mi, rano za Gergiovden
      Kato kuka, kakvo li duma?
      Mladi momi i nevesti
      Кato kuka, rano mi rano
      Kako duma na Gergiovden?
      Na Gergiovden, rano mi rano
      Rano mi rano
      Kato zakukala e rano
      Rano, zakukala e rano
      rano, za Gergiovden rano
      Kukala Gergiovden
(Thanks a lot +TheNexusChronus for this correct part of the song)

      Kato zakukala e rano
      Rano, zakukala e rano
      rano, za Gergiovden rano
      Kukala Gergiovden
      Zakukala rano mi rano
      Zakukala rano mi rano
Rano rano kukovitsa e! (Thanks a lot Alex Kotsev for the correct word)
      Rano kukovitsa e kuko rano
      Zakukala e kukuvitsa
(Uh -or- Um -just for rhyme) Rano mi, rano za Gergiovden
      Kato kuka, kakvo li duma?
      Mladi momi i nevesti
      Кato kuka, rano mi rano
      Kako duma na Gergiovden?
Na Gergiovden, rano mi duma (Correct me here please if is wrong)

Actually, this is not true. The most ancient languages are Egyptian, Sanskrit, Greek, Chinese, Aramaic, Hebrew, Farsi, Tamil, Korean, Italian, Arabic. Song very nice.

Not many years less in serbian as well. But u mixed bulgar with bulgarian. Bulgarian is actually fairly new language derived from church slavonic as one branch while macedonian as second branch...so not even protoslavic if we want to be precise. And since bulgarians have been slavenised - this actual language has norhing with an old bulgar

One of the most live-giving intros to a song. Love it❤
