Domination starts getting old once you conquered everyone that spawned nearby. You’re top science and culture, at this point I start wondering if the last few warcrimes are really worth it
pretty much lol, I feel like its mostly the game itself that gets boring after you gain a lead. They should add in buffs for the ai each era rather then game start
@@TheCivLifeR a while back you mentioned a corruption mechanic, that would add some interesting possibilities. Maybe ARA History untold will bring something new to the table?
Yep I only finish 1 out 6 games if I don’t win by turn 230 I will slow just stop playing the game and after a month start a new one and I’m winning no joke on deity like civlifer every game now but turns start being long and pointless I’m 38 years old with kids so just don’t have time
literally just ended a game cause i was dominationg as my boi alexander. and first comment was this one. im cut
Why wouldn't you want to have their heads hanging as trophies in your palace? (a little role-playing helps).
"Why you NEVER pick the Zulu for domination in Civ 6"
*puts them in top 10 domination leaders in civ 6*
That's clickbait my friend, and it seems like it to has worked on both of us.
Didn't work on me .... oh
Suggestion for video: civ tiers based on player experience. Newbie tier, Beginner tier, Casual tier, Gamer tier, Master tier, Chad tier...based on skill needed to win with that civ. Random thought...enjoy the content as usual, thanks for the video!
I finally finished my last domination and have been looking for my next leader. I think I should finish any open games I have but I'm really just typing out loud for the algorithm, you're welcome
lol aprpeciate it
Gotta be sure to please comrade Susan
How could you not give Nubia an honorable mention? I hope your next game starts with a suprise war of swordsmen and potato archers until she makes you call her mommy.
"There is nothing llanero's cant do"
Except taking out cities, which is 90% of what you do against the AI anyways
lol to be fair at that stage the only units who can are seige engines
Great video! Can't wait for your next stream
Tomorrow!
Zulu is an S-tier Civ on the music front. Their theme could have been the main song for game, and people would have loved it.
I was 200 hours in Civ6 and I never had finished a game and I had the same mindset of every gigachad CivLifeR sub where I would only make it so you could win via domination and never won and kept restarting. Then I learned of the Roman Legion rush and I won my first game of domination Trajan. Never felt better. Domination victory>
I fell in love with Tomyris on the first sight. This juicy heal-on-kill ability is just like made for me. Deity, especially on marathon is a cake walk with snacking barbs-to-go everywhere and killing sprees through enemy lines without bigger downtimes for recover.
Additional CS against damaged foes is tasty topping and makes everything perfect for roleplaying. Take the vampires, play like vampires, put on your black bathrobe, darken the light, giggle insane from time to time and be an evil imperator!
Just don't focus to much on cavalry in early game and stick to melee+ram+range...
Gaul gets plus 2 for every adjacent unit, throughout the entire game. He can also beeline civics by producing units. Nationalism. Using Venetian Arsenal or Statue of Zeus supercharges him.
Alexander is easily the best d-*cough*, sorry, diplomacy leader!
best diplo civ lol
Love this guy
The saka horse archer is extremely good for the extra era score, which could lead to a better age and more loyalty. They are also good to just trowh at your opponent after that
the problem is they are so fragile, any unique unit is good for era score true but the archers having 1 range and no cs bonus like nubias archers puts them at a disadvantage
@@TheCivLifeR yeah but a hit on your saka is a hit avoided on your core units and good for setting up that initial attack for bonus on wounded units.
If they can't sustain then send them scouting until you can promote them into crossbows.
@@TheCivLifeR Agreed, but that's their purpose. They are reasonably cheap (especially with Agoge) and the fact that you get 2 of them just makes them perfect as a swarm unit. Just get a good production capital and you'll have an insane horde in no time. I often see them compared to Mongolian Keshigs, which is logical since it's the only other horse archer we can train, but that doesn't make sense. Keshigs are meant to be veteran units, and Sakas are meant to be expendable. Try them as a swarm unit, it does really work. And if they don't work out, they're just highly mobile crossbowmen.
I play on prince bc I’m not great at the game but sometimes I take out a weak civ near me but I feel like I’m overdue on that civ everytime I do it. Last game I took out Georgia but it was like turn 130 and I kinda felt like I should’ve done it way earlier. Any tips on taking out a weak civ nice and early?
For some reason I misread the title as "Psychology of 10 MAJOR DOMINATION LEADERS in Civ VI' and assumed you were doing a deep psychoanalytical analysis of Gilgabro
Good list
"It's over Pericles! I just upgraded all my Levied army to Swordsmen! You have no hope of victory!"
*Our delegate reports that Greece has completed an Acropolis in Athens*
>To be continued
lmao
Idk if I’ve ever made it past turn 150 in a civ 6, never completed one fully, but man do your videos keep dragging my ass in to keep playing 😂
I know you keep mentioning that Macedon is heavily start position-dependent, and it is, but I remember when it was first added and you didn't even need iron or horses to make hypaspists and hetairoi. Add that with the fact that loyalty wasn't a thing and Macedon was NUTS. The only two civs that even stood a chance at the time were Rome and Greece - hoplites actually made a lot of sense when their adjacency bonuses and anti-cavalry strength were the only thing between you and the 200 horsemen of the apocalypse led by a great general. Phalanx tactics were the ONLY thing keeping Rome and Greece alive against Macedon back then.
The fastest domination victory I have on deity is with Kupe. Kupe is a great dom Civ due to their extra production from woods and their immediate access to ocean tiles allows them to colonize the globe for a better Pax Britannica than Elizabeth could ever achieve.
I feel like the Gaul should be ranked higher; their Gaesatae are just kinda cracked. Due to Ambiorix, they receive (sort of) a double support bonus. And their +10 combat strength vs unit with higher base strength is just so good. They can reliably take out Swordsmen in a 1v1 and even Men-at-Arms are a fair match-up, granted that the Gaesatae is defending. I even managed to kill an Oromo Cavalry using them (no, not on Deity, it was on Emperor). Yes, Gaul overall isn't that good(compared to the rest), but still, they take the 11th spot no doubt.
I feel like gorgo is a bigger counter than mongolia to horse based civs. Those hoplites can take on coursers and knights, and if you get corps early enough, cavalary. You dont even need to upgrade them, which is nice since pikeman are in a terrible spot to get
true, spearmen have their uses against certain civs
So I'm a bitch then because I focus on the economy until I find Uranium (you know what's going to happen, especially after I found out nuclear weapons).
The intro won me over lol. Dominance all day!!!
What nerfs did Gran Columbia experience in the final patch? Love the content my brother
was the october patch mb:
Reduce Llanero adjacent strength to +2 (was +4).
Drop Comandante Generals to no bonus movement (was +1 Movement).
Drop Hacienda to .5 Housing (was 1)
Hacienda can be affected by Drought natural disasters.
They used to be able to get 8 movespeed horsemen easily lol not to mention llanero was the best UU in the game almost always getting at least 12 combat strength from adjacent units up to 20
I think Spain is even better than Byzantium for a Domination/Religion style victory. The +5 against other religions combined with crusade +10 and a religious unit +10 can give you up to a +25 combat strength in your conquistadores. You can turn an enemy city to your religion but if the enemy holly city still follows a different religion you will cash both buffs. The intercontinental trade routes makes it that you can spawn armies and fleets out of thin air. If you add a couple of wonders like oracle, casa de contratacion, colossus, alhambra... you can become quite strong. I had one run where I built an AMAZING panama canal and the yields got out of the charts
How would you rate Julius Caesar in terms of Domination, especially with his gold bonus for taking settlements and clear barbarian camps?
I fell like germany would at least deserve a honorable mention because of the extra military slot and the ability to create entire armies in a few turns through high production
true but I wanted to focus more on domination esque civs
If you count late game domination there would be to many civs that can work
need a new one of these WITH the BBG mods hahah they seem way more effective etc
I always try to go for science victory because I am Bad At The Video Game and lose cities to barbarians sometimes. I have been getting better though.
“Chromosomal abhorration” is insane lmao
Egypt deseved at least an honorable mention. Their unique archer is better than crossbowmen at 2 techs only, which makes it really strong
too expensive imo
@@TheCivLifeR half the price of a crossbowman for a better unit
Russia with dance of the auroras + work ethic + voidsingers is #1 at domination. If you start near a natural wonder (or two) you can have +20 production cities with 1 pop as soon as you get a religion. Making it +35 once you unlock theology. And you can pack 5-6 cities around 1 natural wonder with some planning. Once you get theology and build grandmaster’s chapel, you already have about 500 faith per turn (large map, normal speed, loads of conquering) and can buy armies with faith. Voidsingers also turn 20% of that into gold, culture and science. It’s so fun to play and Diety AI got nothing on you.
I'm writing that down.
I just got this weird image in my head of Tomyris making Cyrus braid her hair. lol
lmao no wonder the braids are so perfect; cyrus must be a fashionista
Why no Japan? The half time on the encampments and holy sites allows for elevating your military and then the religion to finance your military
try civ 6 vox populi secret collection with difficulty 10 and barbardian difficulty raging if deity too easy for you
Wait does this mean Mongolia can have Winged Hussars?
Bro can you please finish that first 100 turns game?
I disagree with hoplites being outclassed by swordsman if you rush hoplites they go from like 28 strength to 33, which is slightly less than swordsman. But if you have 2 mil policies it’s 35,(+2 loyalty, 50% production for anti cavalry or 1 unit maintenance) and typically as gorgo for the most part atleast half of your hoplites probably have a promotion for extra combat ability from fighting barbs and frankly swordsman. The problem with hoplites is as time goes on pikeman and pike and shot won’t cut it by the time man at arms are out. If I’m gorgo I try to get access to horses just to sell them to opponents early game for anti cavalry bonus, also if you’re asking why you wouldn’t just want a swordsman if they are equal without promotions and 2 mil policies, because you don’t have to have iron. I play vanilla starts
It's the most enjoyable winning condition ❤
i think diplomatic victory is easier than domination
pretty cool for you to plug shirtless war criminals in your videos
You're totally muscounting Gorgos bonuses, but, cool
I feel like Macedon is probably the best because his abilitys are so pointed towards domination
Persia should be above India, the immortal is op, especially with the extra movement, and the extrs loyalty is extremely usefull
Not at all. Unique swordsmen are super weak ever since the man at arms were introduced. Their window for use is like 10 turns wide before they become irrelevant. You have to slow the game down to epic or marathon to use them.
@@joelpierce1453 or you could just not upgrade them. Immortals are better than men at arms anyways
@@alex2005z Yeah, just don't upgrade them and let the AI get a +10 advantage on your army by doing so. Are you playing on Prince? Get serious, man.
@@joelpierce1453 you are acting like the AI is smart, and +10 is less important than a ranged attack. Oh, and due to men at arms being in the worst possible spot in the tech tree you have so much time with swordsmen anyways
@@alex2005z The worst possible spot 😂😂😂 my guy you put three mines down and you have the boost. It's so close to swordsmen already. If you need a ranged attack just put an archer behind your front line troops. They're cheaper anyway.
You have to be playing on prince or lower.
Just cranked out an easy domination victory (only on King) with Basil - hard to argue with the religious bonus of heavy cavalry hits walls directly, and the unbelievable amount of cavalry you get when you build hippodromes and buildings. I had to start disbanding my units
Golden.
Where’s the stream??
You're sleeping on hoplites. With oligarchy you can get their combat strength up to 45, they'll absolutely wreck a swordsman.
I still stand that byzantium is better than babylon for domination, babylon are very dependant on luck with strategics, and if you want to consitently win you cant have that. Byzantium just need a religion, which is much easier since the AI never picks crusade
Hammurabi doesn't even need strategics. Getting crossbowmen and pikemen an era early is plenty. Or you can play the long game if you have no early targets. I have Bab over Byz because they're more flexible. The tagma strat is probably the most powerful single strategy in the game but it only works if you have neighbors at the right time. Bab has like 6 domination strategies.
@@jyutzler you dont need tagmas with byzantium. The real power is in the extra 13 combat strenght they get and horsemen being able to punch trough cities, even with renassaince walls, while melle units cannot. And their ability to print units works with every cav unit in the game, so it doesnt need to be with tagmas, tanks work just as well. And if you are going to rush crossbowmen you can just go egypt which get them as early as byzantium without needing to rush 3 archers. (Their unique unit is a better crossbowmen)
its both pretty close tbh, the thing with babylon though is 3 archers isnt hard to get with xbows and 2 xbows for bombards is also pretty easy making them pretty reliable with that strat
@@TheCivLifeR and then you dont have niter and your brilliant strategy is ruined. You also have the problem of only having a few units, so if the AI just trowhs units at you you will be very slow
If you are set on a particular strategy with Babylon from the beginning, then yes, you need luck. But Babylon can rush so many damn things that it's only a matter of adaptability. Sure, you can hit some extremely bad luck, but in general you will always have SOME strategics around you.
Also, Byzantium's strength is limited to land combat and some early coastal waters combat. You can't play it to it's fullest strength on a more naval map. But for Babylon, be it land, sea or air, it always has something it can reach some 2-3 eras before anyone else.
BONUS: Rushing Apprenticeship (+1 mines production), then Industrialization (another +1 mines production), then Ruhr Valley can be done even before turn 100 on standard speed, which can easily give you a 100+ production city. If you also put an encampment in that city, it can print units faster than the whole Byzantium empire all by itself.
Is there any chance of getting back to old regular gameplay videos instead of guides and tier lists? Dont get me wrong i think those are amazing too. Its just that theres to many of them
ive begun going back to games, also I do stream regularly as well. Todays episode is gonna be a game though lol
@@TheCivLifeR Thanks a lot. I love ur gameplay episodes and i would watch streams too if not being in different timezone
Glad to see my beautiful Byzantium at #2. Heck, if you don't count Babylon due to being busted, they're #1! Yay!
Ottomans come in number three, then number two is Byzantium - the very people conquered by the Ottomans. Ironic, isn't it?
Rome seriously underated being left out here, free monuments to get agoge, flanking bonuses and oligarchy quicker. Coupled with legions being able to chop out more legions and roads to make reinforcing easier. Also feel ottomans are a little overated since most of the time you're too behind in science on deity to make full use of Janissaries and if you are close the game would be won on any civ.
I'm surprised to see that Russia wasn't on the list.
I always win culture or religious with the most military power with the zulus
zulu are pretty strong in general tbh
Babylon is number one ☝️ for sure I never Win domination games to much work at the end early turn to science or whatever but I had modern armour and stealth bombers by turn 171 that’s gg my friends on deity and with no heroes plan game
Honestly I prefer civilization 3 over this game mainly because I feel like the game is bigger in Civilization 3 if they make civilization 7 they better make it civilization 3 2. I also love civilization 4 and 5 civilization 6 is almost unplayable for me I try but I can't get used to the district portion of the game complain on PS4 and the game crashes when I start to understand stuff.
So..... Am I the only one who thinks Gilgamesh is like a cheat code in this game? What am I missing?
What about Aztecs, guys?
Haha Benito Gorgolini
no Montezuma?
Will u ever do Civ 5 content again? I got bored of Civ 6 and went back to 5.
Wee KER 4:44
Next video: "Why you NEVER play Civilization 6!"
After turn 100, the game starts too randomly crash every now and then.
Why no Eleanor? Domination by love, no war crimes needed, can even dominate allies
Ambiorix got me down bad
First
noice
Hey bud, why dont you try civ6 vanilla!!! Let's see how you do !!! NO MODS @!@ I bet you get owned !!! NO MODS,, and just stop putting out videos how good you are @!@
