This episode was pre-taped on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 15, 1999.
It aired on Friday, December 17, 1999.
There is one episode left to produce in 1999. You can see when Rosie comes out of the curtain on this episode she mouths "one day left" and holds up a single finger.
Episode 76 is the annual Christmas Show, which was recorded on Thursday, December 16th, 1999 and aired on Thursday, December 23rd, 1999.
It was rare that when the show was in production to not have a live show on that particular day. However, what likely was the case was the increased security of having Hillary Rodham Clinton as the guest for the Christmas show created additional logistics concerns.
Don't expect to see Episode 76 tomorrow, however. The team here has been uploading the annual Christmas Shows on Christmas Eve for the last few years. That means we won't know who has who for Secret Santa for eight more months! Ha.

Great interview Rosie. Courtney is such a great interview. And Elaine Stritch. On one show. Incredible.

Courtney Love & Elaine Stritch - wow, great job by the booker getting these two powerhouses in same episode.

Elaine sang so beautifully! I'm not familiar with her work but I can see why Rosie loves her.

      She's worth looking into...She had a one-woman show that's wonderful...great stories and songs....She was also on 30 Rock for a while...

Coffee "verde" vs. coffee "venti"... Like very "Courtney" to get the words mixed up at this point in her life but like... Did she predict MATCHA (as it became a trendy green caffeinated beverage later)?

If you like Elaine Stritch, look up her video where she talks about auditioning for a 1980s sitcom… called The Golden Girls.

I understand why it happens but the announcers who call this the “Rosie O’Donald Show” really gets my goat…

I can't even believe this bedazzled jean skirt. I mean I can believe it, it's just....unbelievable. This was that period where Courtney Love succumbed to stylists and drug screens and Ed Norton

Oh RO, you were sooo good at this!! Even raging dysregulated hot messes like Courtney you reined it! Lol. 1000x better than Ellen. But thankfully Kelly C and Drew B 'basically' brought back this kind of *authentic, truly genuine, engaged kind of talk shows!

Was does “dysregulated” mean to you? Also Courtney had really cleaned up by act and had had her Hollywood makeover for two years by this point. She was no longer “a mess”.

Courtney usually looked great during this time but looks super frumpy with that hairstyle. She actually looks like a thin version of her mother who all the Courtney bios say was great looking (the dad not so much) but I found homely as hell.
Courtney is charismatic in interviews so saves the day here but I don’t get why Rosie was as popular as she was back then. This show is awful. Is the bandleader gay? Handsome guy. Definitely easier on the eyes (and ears) than O’Donnell.

I prefer the Courtney Love of 1994/95 but she’s sweet here.

I remember this episode vividly. Courtney saying "Madonna's short" (that was the first time I realized this, assuming she was about 5'7" my whole life) and pretending to play guitar when saying that's why people think she's not nice, etc.
