When Pink Floyd needed a great Sax player they called on John Helliwell from Supertramp. When Supertramp needed a great guitar player, they called on David Gilmour. They appeared on both albums. A cool connection for these incredible bands.
The lyrics to this hit harder than what's conceivably even possible! Such a banger.
Yes brilliant song ,masterful
"There are times when all the world's asleep the questions so deep" I really love this song and also "take the long way home" and "Goodbye Stranger" all incredible!!
Goodbye Stranger In his playlist.
Goodbye Stranger has one of my all-time favorite guitar endings of a song. Just perfect!
SUPERTRAMP , absolument magnifique !!....
My favorite Supertramp song!
They are one of those next level bands. Truly underrated. There is two lead singers. Both play key boards too. Check out rudy , the lead singers do a back and forth at the end. Incredible talent 👏
He did Rudy Live. See his playlist.
More Supertramp !!!!!! .. School live
Great song!
This is the music of my elementary school days. I lvoed ELO and SuperTramp!!!!
Being 60, i was blessed to grow up with the very best music 🎶
Every Supertramp song is fantastic
All the members were musicians and the music is progresive rock, thats why is so sophisticated and very high level, Supertramp is the top of this kind of music
"Give a Little Bit" is yet another side of Supertramp from what you've covered; it's a totally positive message, awash in 12-string guitar. Try it!
Roger Hodgson is the singer...John Helliwell is on the sax
I know you'll get dozens of differing requests for this band, so I'll add another, I guess. A really special and soulful tune, called 'Even in the quietest moments'.
Bringing back some great memories. Thanks for sharing this great tune.
John Helliwell on Sax.... My Favorite. He is 6'5" and is quite funny. talks to the audience a lot, puts on a great show. Plays keyboards too.
"Cherry On Top" describes all songs from Supertramp. JM, you're just getting started with this magnificent band. I'm happy I turned you on to them. "Take The Long Way Home"
Definitely one of their greatest songs. My second favorite would probably be "Take The Long Way Home". Highly recommended.
Roger Hodgson on vocals. This is what I found for the sax player..." John Helliwell's classic alto sax solo from "The Logical Song" by Supertramp".
Long Way Home. Many more. They are brilliant!
That was John Halliwell on the sax, please watch some more.
My favorites out of all their great music is #1 The Logical Song, #2 The Long Way Home, & #3 Goodbye Stranger.
What I always took from this song was that it was about the loss of childhood innocence. When you are little, the world is new & magical. Everything is full of joy & wonder. But then you start to grow up, go to school where you learn from adults (& other kids) how to look at your world through different eyes. As you continue to mature, you become part of society & are expected to act, think, & say things a certain way. But deep down you are still an independent person with dreams, creative imagination, & opinions that might go "against the grain" of what you were taught and how others think. It's a song of trying to understand yourself & wanting to break free of conformity instead of being "just another brick in the wall" (as Pink Floyd said). The voices are amazing, but that saxophone is on FIRE! Music from the 70's & 80's & a little bit from the 90's is the only thing I listen to.
I always loved Supertramp and had their albums back in the day. I like that they were so unique.
Imagine being in the 18th row seeing this band Live, or the 23 row, or even the 34 row.... There I was, no need to imagine it, memory works great for all three shows.
I hope youve done more Supertramp, im slowly going through your reactions and youre doing a great job
The Wurlitzer 200 sounds absolutely incredible ❤
That is so cool that you enjoy Supertramp ! You should check out "School" Great song 🎵 All of their songs are Amazing 👏 If you should happen to react to the song school do the studio version please !! 🙏
This cd stays in my car..we called it river music..
Tolja. Love this song! Supertramp is one of those bands that I've always wanted to see and never got the chance.
It's so good to hear it again 👍
This makes 105 in your growing fast folder of great song reactions. . I put them on memory sticks and give them to family and friends. You are becoming a favorite way to listen/watch Classic Rock, with a twist.
Oh man! Please check out Take the Long Way Home. Another great Supertramp song.
Their level of excellence and high standards means if they put it on an album, it is something very good and worth the time listening to every song.
John Anthony Helliwell is the saxophonist, Supertramp started out with sweet, melodic songs. They added Helliwell on 1974s Crime of the Century which was perhaps their strongest album, then Crisis what Crisis and Even in the Quietest Moments had some strong material. The Logical song is from the third album after Crime, 'Breakfast in America' also featuring the whimsicall title track.
From an era when the music in Britain was at it's peak.
Ha! I'm first! Hi! This is another great group.
Proud to be a radical, a liberal
First you did... "Rudy" Live., then it was "Child Of Vision".... then "Goodbye Stranger"... You will soon have a playlist full of outstanding songs from my second favorite band I've seen Live. You want to do "Don't Leave Me Now" next.
Supertramp/Take The Long Way Home album version. The single version is edited!
Me and my buddies played this album over and over again back in 1979.
JMBOY...Bless you. Love your reactions. So funny, though that this song was from 1979, because what he sang about is upside down now. What he was raging about is what was radical 40 years ago but it is different today. The cynical is what is in power. Every one needs to adjust their radar. The "free" comes from a very different source. Gotta do some research! :-}
Some of the best lyrics ever!
Tune & reaction
One of the best songs ever! Thanks😊
☮️💙💙💙🔥
If you really want to live, love, and enjoy music go back to the 60s and 70s ...
Good Day JM. You now know that these guys are seriously talented bands. My 2nd and 3rd favorite live shows. (#1 Pink Floyd) I'd like to see you do two songs soon, album versions. Kansas - "Magnum Opus".... Supertramp - "Don't Leave Me Now"... After those, every song from both bands is awesome stuff... TOP SHELF. All are home run hits.
You need to listen to the whole album "Breakfast in America "
Did anyone mention listening to "Breakfast in America" too.
Bloody Well Right, Even in the Quietest Moments, Fool's Overature, It's Raining Again......and so very much more....
Lead singer, Roger Hodgson.
Just to make it easy for you brother, just pick any song from the album Breakfast in America. You can't go wrong. Have fun with them

He did Rudy Live, Child Of Vision, Goodbye Stranger in his playlist, all are great.
@@AliasMark69 I'm referring to the studio versions not live. For his first listen he should hear the version that made the song famous.
@@jakeelliot2868 I agree completely BUT....Rudy Live has the awesome train ride video.... a must see. That's why I suggested it as JM's first Supertramp
Just remember this was Top 40 Radio. Not some obscure stuff. This level of quality was done for Pop Music.
Please react to their 'Goodbye Stranger.'

If you want a another great sax solo, check out “Jungleland” by Bruce Springsteen.
Try "Bloody Well Right " "School" " Dreamer" "Giive a little Bit " :)
