What a wonderful and talented man whose music gave us so much soulful joyous love as well as pushing for the rights of Black people to live free from the evils of white racism.
thank you,for posting this. I saw alot of change in the 60's and 70's. my mother owned a recored store across the street from the Black Panthers in Seattle Wa. She taught me all about equality and kindness to all of gods children. She was a single black woman who raised two mixed raced kids myself and my brother and taught us compassion and tollerance. This is the first song I remember knowing by heart. It brings a smile to my face!
RIP C M . . . You are truelly missed in this world ! ! ! The Black Panthers burned down my school when I was 12 yrs old. The Lincoln Memorial JR High School in the birth place of the KKK in the city of Forrest City, Arkansas. Done in protest for the right to be free and equal to all mankind and for the right to be non-segregated or not. Then came the Hells Angels, hired by the USA Government to come in and Try to put anyone down low who was not White /Right. The angels got their axes shipped and deservingly so. They were once considered elite military unit sworn to uphold the USA Constitution, instead they became some of the lowest of the low. I watched that town riot out and an Indian dude and a black dude was hung to death from a pole for being in mixed race relationships. It got much worse before it got better ! ! ! The National Guard ended those days of human self destruction and carnage, but I believe it was GOD who ended those days and happenings ! ! ! You know that General Nathan Bedford Forrest created the KKK and he also came to renounce it and all it's EViL ! ! ! Is the world and people's in it really any better these days as in any other times before them ? ? ? I am Native American, European and Afrikan, some 23 & me information there, but I am so much more, a work always in progress just as is those in the future to come . . . They tried to make me be a who what where when why and how come at their say so and command, but I held and still hold to my rights as set fourth in the USA Constitution and the Bill Of Rights as upheld by the USA Supreme Court which what is bound on Earth is bound in Heaven . . . FREEDOM, Noone nor Nothing will ever be able to take my soul, for it belongs only to GOD, my Pledge Of Allegiance, AMEN ! ! ! 😎🎸🌹DDH 12-2-2019.
Curtis Mayfield an incredible singer, songwriter, performer, etc … I've heard this song covered by numerous artists, and yes, they did a terrific job, but no one does it like Curtis Mayfield.
They don't make songs like people get ready no more this is a real Old School classic today's music is just trash love Old School classic R&B Old School it's the best music ever
Racial tension has no place in music. The world was blessed with this talented gift from God. He is so missed. So much soul from this man he was an angel on this earth.
That bass player just realized he played the funkiest grooves around and just can't get enough of it. Just rocking it out to and with Curtis Mayfield, full on mullet in a white suit wearing oversized sunglasses. Few men even aspire to that level of greatness.
i heard the song move on up in the early 70s at just 14 and thought jeeeez that is awesome who sings that and from that day until this curtis mayfield his voice his music his soul changed my whole perception of music and the message it can send, if you listen closely there is more soul in the chorus of angels now he is with them.
Curtis Mayfield you were in my day the 60' a voice and soulful sound I will never forget have turned my kids on to him. O I love him his sweet sounds and he sings to the then, here and now! I am screaming.... Awwwwwwww play boy play sing man sing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Curtis was a gift from God A message in every song & that unmistakable voice...silky smooth...his songs remain fresh So sad when he got paralyzed, never will be forgotten
Oh men!! You did your thing here Randy with that bass guitar, when Curtis gave you that shoutout. Outstanding performance from a musical genius and his band!! What a masterpiece! Rest on Curtis Mayfield!
I love this man's voice.....this song is glorious. Goosebumps time!! This takes me way back in time....I wish our current leaders would wake up and know, there's, no hiding place.....Tee in Southwest Usa
The message here is Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world. He will be coming back to pick up all who surrender their hearts to Him. Get on board of that train, because that’s what Curtis is singing about. He’s calling you, yes you. Jesus loves you ❤
True innovator, a beautiful human being and the king of Soul!, i love playing along to Mr Mayfield on my LP matadors taken too soon but he be jamming up there with the best
Curtis' voice was butter, one of the few that had their fingers on the pulse of those of us from the urban environment, never sold out to sell more records, stayed true to his art and sang from his soul
I know that conguero from Atlanta, he used to play in the Omni at Max's with Villi Lakatos' band. super nice, super fine player, he gave me beginner lesson, while we were talking. So cool to see him here. I was friends with the bandleader.
I totally can relate. Curtis Mayfields' music brings comfort rhythm and soul and togetherness. He represent Black pride and moving on up. You cry a some then u dont look back but move on up! Hey Hey,,, Amen!
Soul perfection.. in the presence of a God. There is no race and color problem …this is so full of harmony black white any color.. Thank you for sharing the 💗

Curtis missed the lyrics " there are no hiding places from the father of creation." may God have mercy on his soul. It's probably the lable who passed over these powerful poems!
