To be honest, as soon as this song came in on the first episode, I got a bit teary. Such a bittersweet-sounding OST... I wonder how many more episodes it'll be until I break down crying ahah.

I know the ending was beautiful in it's own way, and a few of you might think that it could ruin the anime, or at least the first season. However, imho this anime NEEDS and DESERVES a second season, and if it's possible I'd support them in every way possible for me, cos this anime became my favorite straight away. One really got attached to seeing them together, sweetest anime couple ever, and finally one that's a bit more realistic. Whether you agree or disagree, feel free to share me your opinion.
Nice cover btw, it sounds sad yet peaceful at the same time. If a 2nd season does come out and Isla would get her memories back (If that was her at the end, which is most likely the case, though I hope they didn't change her appearance too much..), then your cover could actually be perfect for that "reunion" kind of scene when (or if) she gets her memories back somehow.
No, it doesn't "need" a second season. "Deserve"? Perhaps. But not "need." The ending was beautiful and not a real cliffhanger--it's up to the audience to decide whether they reused Isla's body or not. But they made it clear that he came to terms with the fact that she was probably gone forever. That's kind of the point of the anime--it's really a classic love story where one of the characters has a terminal illness and the other character's mission is to help them enjoy the days they have left while being helped to come to terms with death by the ill character. Except that, in the case of _Plastic Memories_ , the "ill" character is an android with emotions who is facing the end of her active time. She does not need to come back, and we don't really need a second season to tell us that Tsukasa healed with time. The ending is perfect as it is.
Would a second season ruin the story? Only if they bring Isla back and cheapen Tsukasa's development in the last couple episodes. A better second season would be him helping, say, Michiru work through Zack's expiration when it comes, while teaching his own Giftia (whether a completely different Giftia or a reprogrammed Isla body with a new OS) what it means to be compassionate and aware of the importance of emotions, empathy, and compassion.
@@taylorb9484 very very late reply, but im pretty sure the after credits scene, isla was there, but without the memories.
Your missing the point of the anime the anime is supposed to have the viewer parallel their emotions towards the characters and the show the same way giftias/humans view their lifespan. The anime was short and fleeting, although you want more there's never gonna be more. Be happy it happened and carry it on in your memories rather than wanting more and being sad that it ended.
@@PenumbraDev Yeah I agree. My opinion on these things has changed a lot in the past years. Better to end on a bittersweet but good note, than bringing out another season and completely ruining the previous good parts of the anime, which has happened all too often.

I dropped the show back when it was airing, because I just didn't see what other people saw in it, after watching this (Great cover btw) cover I thought that I should give it another go and I did, I was so surprised that I dropped the show and I really enjoyed it from start to finish despite its flaws.
I was actually happy with the ending and thought that the open ended after credits scene was the best way to go as it leaves it up to interpretation.
