I get the feeling that Zona's ghost didn't actually visit her mother, rather, her mother was a shrewd woman and knew what she had to do to get her daughter's death treated as a murder after the shady behavior of her son in law, perhaps, also, after catching a glimpse of bruises on the neck of her daughter's corpse, and she told a whopper of a lie to ensure that an investigation got done. Amazing woman, keeping her cool at trying, facing her daughter's killer down with dauntless calm.

Or her highly intelligent brain put all the clues together and the info came as a dream.
Either way, she took the law by the shoulders and forced them to listen and get justice for her daughter, saving future victims the same fate

Also, if you are a reader and familiar with Gavin de Becker's "Gift of Fear"- you'd be aware that sometimes the subconscious is in alert mode and processing things that the "conscious" mind isn't fully aware of, unless you do some deep introspection. Maybe her mother saw all these signs at the funeral, read the paper, and the ghost was really her subconscious piecing everything together.

What if her mother got into an argument with her, and things took a dark turn. What if she saw it as an opportunity to get revenge on her son-in-law by spinning a tale that she knew he would not be able to disprove?

Whether the mom did or didn't read the story doesn't matter. They dug up the body and evidence proved out the claim. The "visitation" was not used in the case by the prosecutor? Still it was clear the "visitation" claim was real. CRAZY!

People used to come to your house, and they would fill out the census information for you. When I worked at the local library, I had to transcribe census info from microfilm, and it would be the same handwriting for pages and pages.

My father used to rehome spiders into the guest room.
The problem is, that was where I slept whenever I'd visit him. They would march across the ceiling, fight each other and where they would fall during the struggle could be anywhere. ANYWHERE. You can't sleep while waiting for that; all sorts of things go through a young mind.
Because of this I've had a lifelong terror of spiders. Mom said that prior to this I had no problem with them -- I'd even play with them in the woods. I'd give anything to be that free again but the damage is done.
Keith, if you have kids, for the love of all that is holy -- take the spiders outside please and buy some window screens FFS. I don't understand what Europe has got against window screens.

As a tarantula/spider mom it's great to hear your keeping our native spiders in your home to get rid of the moths/flys Keith. Cellar spiders (the ones with long legs and skinny body's) will be great at this . If you can find them orb weavers are great for this too although they need to go in your garden.
Also the less you cut the grass the more spiders you will get . Gl on keeping those moths down, wish more people would go the natural spider route like you!

Spiders scare me, but I share my space with them for the mosquito problem. Rain Spiders are ideal. They are just huge. And they bungee jump 😳. Pretty scary when you are relaxing on the couch, watching him walk across the ceiling. UNTIL he decides on a speedy decent about 5 ft away. First time that happened, I nearly broke my neck flying across the room 😂

    • @charliemum

As for the census, it's only been recently in the US that the census was done by mail or filing something out. Traditionally the census was conducted by official census takers who would ask citizens questions and write down their answers. So she didn't need to read and write to SAY she could read and write.

Moths don't have nests, & the easiest way to know, is by asking if the insect is a social insect, like ants, wasps, termites, bees, etc. That said, the moth called Spongy Moth, which are often called Tent Catapillers here in NY, because as caterpillars, they congregate in groups & build a "tent" in the crook of a tree. They are bad for trees & in NY & other states are considered an invasive species. The moths at Kieth's, are probably attracted to the light, warms, or a thing they like to eat, clothing, or cardboard, or foods like rice or breads.

Cabbage worms come from Cabbage White moths; tobacco & tomato hornworms come from the sphinx or hawk moth (and they could have been designed by the special effects department making a horror move); and owlet moths produce cutworms or armyworms.

Holy hell, the man pressed to death during the witch trials refused to admit that his wife was a witch (killed during the witch trials). His name was Giles Corey and he is related to me. This idea was also substantiated by the eating of mouldy bread which included Urgott which is a terrible hallucinatory and poisonous mold. This allowed a lot of the witch trials to go forward as it included struggle, starvation, strife, the fear of the unknown and mild hallucinations along with extreme paranoia.

Keith, you need booklice for moths. Those critters munch through the moth larvae like they're the best candy & they're soon gone any moths. Then use a dehumidifier or heat fans to eradicate any other insects. Beware spraying more moisture because you'll attract more mould & more moths and insects that feed on the mould in crevices and on areas unseen. Always use heat never wet sprays. I learned these things through years of battling. Leave that ouija board alone .. it may have invited the moths 😳

Love these podcasts! Cheers boys 🇮🇪
Keith you could set a fly trap, bit of honey, apple cider vinegar, dish washing liquid and water. Just use a soda bottle or something that will hold the solution. There are plenty of diy indoor solutions online. But I like “spider realtor” !

The last story Mike told was actually in a Chicago newspaper when it happened. I remember reading about it. It turns up ever once in a while in reprint.

Yay! TC, now with 💯 more Keith! Welcome back! Don’t leave me again buddy or you’ll have to start your own podcast. Also, does Ireland not have window screens? No spider required.

Salem is interesting, but my connection to it is far more indirect. I'm Canadian with only a tangential family history connection to the U.S., but I'm related somehow to a famous British "witch" known as Old Mother Shipton (nee Ursula Southeil, various spellings of the surname)... she's best known for a long prophetic poem that it turns out was mostly not composed by her and was written much later.

I fuckin love Keith! I too rehome spiders! I love them an thry keep roaches, ants, exc. out of my house. Moths start out as worms/caterpillars (I call them knight butterflies) They love humans because we create the perfect environment for them to be away from the rain and sunlight and they love to chew on certain materials which will include cotton, silk exc. Hence why you find them in your closet! They as a young caterpillar/worm species will consume your fabrics to have enough strength to become a moth! The more you know 💖

What if the mom killed the daughter and Trout realized her neck was broken upon touching her, so he hid it for fear he would get blamed, the only person who knew her neck was snapped was the mother!

The mom reportedly hadn’t seen the daughter in years.

Trout was a Predator! Predator's have the same MO today. They can tell your vulnerable and they seperate you from freinds and family.
