I feel like Vince secretly has his body and mind split into a Genius Vince and a Bat Shit Insane Vince, and whenever he wakes up in the morning, it’s a coin toss to decide which Vince takes control for the day
The Road Warriors taught a young Kenta Kobashi the “Road Warrior workout” in AJPW, which helped him immensely as he rose up the card and became one of the Four Pillars.
I remember watching that Smackdown episode and Great American Bash 2005 live. Road Warriors were before my time so when Johnny Nitro said the line, I was like "Whoa, really? That's just not right."
The storyline nonsense The Road Warriors went through in the WWF is completely overshadowed by how iconic they are. Hell, they were big enough in Japan that the Fist of the North Star manga made the Harn Brothers as tribute to them!
According to an interview that GLOW wrestler Beastie did, they were pretty cool about her using the Road Warrior gimmick (because the movie came out, everyone saw it, not like it was that uncommon) and at fan conventions kept a kayfabe of saying Beastie was their sister. So, yeah, a little crossover of the two promotions. I dunno, I just thought that was cool that they were nice to her.
Next to the matches, I think the coolest thing about how promotions and territories around the world were in the 70s to late 90s was that people had to ask permission and do due diligence for even the smallest of things to make sure each company stood out from one another.
Also you can't put Animal and 'Reich together because they're both the muscle. Kinda like Smash and Crush didn't work without Ax. You need a "point" man someone who leads the team or duo.
Useless fact: Part of Droz's last name, "Drozd" is actually a Russian word for "Thrush", aka catbird, so in a way, he continued the animal/bird theme of LoD.
"Oh yeah, Best of all, Animal was an early financial partner in Zubaz, which have since gone on to become the coolest pants of all time." Thank you Animal for like half of my wardrobe.
Start of 7:50 along with all the dialogue is too funny. And of course Rocco was Vince's idea. I'm surprised Rocco wasn't brought back during the attitude era and made to puke woodchips or give birth to a wooden baby.
Ok I'm gonna throw out a little "what if?" Scenario, what if instead of going back to the WWF for their last run they stayed with WCW and became the 4th and 5th guys in the NWO? Imagine it, black and white face paint, black and white shoulder pads. It would have been cool to see hogan, hall, Nash and the LOD all fighting off WCW, then they could have brought in waltman as syxx and DiBiase as the 7th man. I think it would have been great to play around with
It would have interesting to see. However, in the end I don't think it would have worked. The Road Warriors had the ego (not saying that was bad), it would have clashed with Hulk's ego and they would have gotten into a real fight. While the RW were/are over, they would still have competed with Hulk getting over.
No, most recent example of WWE creating random tag teams is Lacey Evans and Peyton Royce, which doesn't make sense because Peyton Royce was in a tag team, they broke up her team, then realized they didn't have enough tag teams and put her in another tag team
It can be done whenever they decide to book things the right way. The Bar for example was a great tag team that even to this day is missed in the division.
I remember watching Hawk's "suicide attempt" as a kid and kept wondering "Um...is this real?" I would've preferred Hawk partnering with a different wrestler and trying to make the new teams work than making fans think if Hawk was serious about ending his own life.
16:17 Also, the WWF decided to take the piss out of the segment when, moments after the incident the crowd immediately erupts into delight when Sable comes out to the ring, forgetting the whole thing even happened.
I met animal at a really really independent event at my very small hometown in Alexandria,Indiana. Even when CM Punk was tearing John Laurenitis a new a-hole, he referred to the team of Hawk and Animal as “The Legendary Road Warriors” so they were still getting the respect they deserved despite being gone from the company for so many years.

Of course, the guy who was meant to have a puppet went on to officially join the team who used to have a puppet. Useless facts, just because there is a connection, doesn't mean there should be.
It's worth noting that LOD or Legion of Doom was not exactly a name change - The Road Warriors were once part of a stable called The Legion of Doom, and even as The Road Warriors the name kinda stuck as a nickname.
