Nice video... The different methods explanation was helpful. I've struggled so much with my VSOH honestly this is my last attempt🙏. I wish I can post a pic of my before and after but let's just say I started with about 30 leaves and I have about eight now so thank you very much for the tips
Cute video on my favorite plant. From my experience the underside of leaves turn pink when exposed to more sunlight. Don't think it's a temperature thing. Thanks for this video. I would like to try the butterfly method and am trying water prop today.
Honestly, I kept killing my var soh. They were soo hard to take care of 😭 But what I realized was I needed a lot more light after watching your video! I've been able to prop more thanks to your care tips Bee!!
i put mine outside in the summer time and after a few hours it scorched like I've never seen. Thankfully I got a rehab SOH for free and now she's thriving. No longer outside hahah
The variegated string of hearts seems so dainty! Like a little princess of a plant. But you make it sound like it's going to be easier than all that. Congrats on your 150 subscribers. I'm sure that will increase as time goes by. I'm liking your content thus far!
Hair pins are a more open cousin of the Bobby-pin. I like the hair pins better because 1 it’s skinnier and it doesn’t close to potentially snap the plant when pinning into the dirt. They stay better too.
I to have just propagated my variegated string of hearts but I did use the water method you can check that out on my channel if you like. But I do think I will be trying the butterfly method as well.
Enjoyed your video..this has always been my most favorite plant.. sometimes have a hard time keeping them alive tho..not sure if I'm under watering or over watering them?
This video was so helpful! I was just wondering... Do we let the wired pins stay in the soil forever or do we remove it in the future? And also, how much water do you give each time you water them? :)
Hi! I remove the pins after the node has roots and starts putting out leaves. As for watering, I don't measure the volume of water because that's not what causes "overwatering." Overwatering is actually caused be watering too frequently - so I throughly soak it through multiple times whenever I water.
Hi girl I am a little worry because I repot my vsoh and they after I watered I put in on the ostion and next day it rain hard in miami Florida then i just panic should i change the soil on dry soil or it will e OK??? And tomorrow I just put it outside like always???.. Then the Bobby pin start creating oxidation. . And I guess I put it tooo tight and now I open the Bobby pin alot before I place it.. Anyways let me. Know what do you think what I should do??? Than you
Which grow light do you have your plant under? You listed two of them and I’m wondering bc I have that same plant on it’s way to me any day now and I want to get the right light set up ASAP! So please please let me know!! Thank you so much for this video I definitely needed all this info!❤️🙌🏻👍🏻
Hi! It's currently under the Sansi bulb, the strip lights I linked are the ones in my greenhouse. I also have placed in the VSOH in my greenhouse before, and it grew great - so I recommend both, just depends on how you want to decorate :)
I actually just potted up my propagation into the main pot this weekend. Are you covering them while propagating? I find it’s easier in just ambient humidity without roots, they tend to rot if there’s no airflow
I'm currently covering them slightly when potting in soil. Did you have more roots from the butterfly method or the water stem method?@@BeesHouseofPlants
@@tribaltiki dont prop in water. I’ve lost many VSOH and SOH that way. Trust the butterfly method. Get a sphagnum moss mixture, lightly nestle the cuttings onto the soil, give it a generous misting, and keep it in a zip lock / freezer bag and let it breath for a few hours a day. Give it more moisture in the beginning to create roots. Once I started doing the butterfly method, I saw roots growing within the week, easily. After 2 weeks they had fully rooted into the soil. I’ll never go back to water propping after this.
🍃Love your video on the variegated String of Hearts. I would love a chance to win a pot full of beautiful hearts. I live in Hawaii and you can’t find that plant here.🌿 Please keep up your good work. Aloha🌱
I just got a variegated string of hearts and have had it under a grow light but the white parts are turning a bit more yellow! Do you have any tips as to what grow lights I can look for that won’t cause this? I don’t get much sun at all and it’s usually quite grey outside each day so putting it by the window isn’t enough!
i think yellowing leaves is more because of watering issues. Maybe you overwatered it and the grow light isn't providing enough light for the plant to dry out. How strong is your grow light bulb (wattage?) and how close/far the plant is to the light?
@@nhthuytruc I don’t think it’s overwatering as it doesn’t look like the leaves are dying but it’s just a tint of yellow. I know marble queen pothos turn yellow under a grow light too. The colour is warm white, red and white and the corresponding colour temperatures are 660nm/3000K/5000K apparently! And I think someone had said the watt is only 20watts? It’s about a foot or less away from the light.
@@faith339 Hmmm, interesting... it could be some light deficiency as your grow light doesn't provide the right spectrum it needs. Do the new leaves come out more green or also with yellow-ish variegation? I would say move it closer and keep watchin. Mine is about foot away from a blindingly bright grow light (it says 120W - but actual consumption is 24W) and the rim of the leaves is turning hot pink. So far, no burn
@@nhthuytruc They’re coming in with yellowish variegation and pink rims as well! I was wondering if I need different coloured lights but I guess for now I’ll just keep a watch on them and maybe try to move them slightly closer to the light. Thanks for your help, really appreciate the reply 🙂
Want to a video strings of heart water propogastion with very close camera video.. Coz sometimes we dont understand where u cut plant..so plz do a video about water propogastion strings of heart
Hi! I’ll try to do a video the next time I cut, but basically you just cut in the stem space between the leaves. Then cut off a set of leaves to expose the node, and then leave that part submerged in water!
Direct light is fine if you slowly transition the plant! Like just make to not go from dark corner -> twelve hours in the sun, ya know? VSOP really like as much light as possible
Last week! And only because I didn’t like the soil. The root system in these are so shallow that honestly you could probably keep it in the same pot for like 2-3 years
@@BeesHouseofPlants I just bought mine and it has been with me for 2 weeks and I also dont like the soil. Same size, same container as yours when you purchased yours, not trailing yet. Im not sure if I should repot it because I feel like the soil will stay too moist if I water it. What do you think?
I think you should at least wait until the pot is dry before repotting! It would also be much easier if you wait until the plant starts trailing before repotting!

You're wrong about the pink I have varagated string of Hearts I keep mine under a thousand watt grow light and my variegated string of Hearts is very very pink and it also has more leaves closer together see how yours are very far apart the spacing between the leaves means it's not getting enough light my humidity is only 38 and all white leafs are not a good thing the leafs do not have any chlorophyll therefore the leafs cannot photosynthesize and die that kind of just says to me that the plants are not getting enough light

Some leaves started falling off mine i think it was burning in a south window
you might have to gradually acclimate it to a south facing window if there's a lot of direct lighting!
