@@StripedJacket It's similar across most, if not all, US based tech companies. Since the US is in recession at the moment, tech being one of the more volatile industries will get hit harder so people are getting cut hard. Same happened with the 2008 recession.
@@StripedJacket It’s not even looming, we are categorically in a recession currently according to statistics with GDP and quarterly reports to my knowledge.
Nobody’s malding over it. It’s literally just free entertainment for us normal people. The person who has anything to lose is Elon, and he’s a billionaire so I don’t feel bad for him at all
Last year I prayed to God in repentance then begged for help with all my heart, "I was until then an Atheist." I then had a dream of Jesus coming before God and he spoke of the Tabernacle in perfect context, "A word I didn't know existed because I never read the bible", and the love I felt from Jesus was unlike anything I've ever felt before - A lifetime of joy every second - It brought me to sobbing and it changed my life, forever. I've had other miracles since, a few being a light turning on in answer to deeply needful prayer over a dozen times, seeing a orb of light hours before a major surgery, seeing an Angel in a dream the night my mother prayed for me to see one, "Without telling me", and So much more, over 30 pages of miracles, several witnessed. Know that God and Jesus ARE real and that they love us deeply. Let go of your hatred and Imagine yourself holding the people who've hurt you. Tell them you love and forgive them and I believe we should do our best to follow the 10 commandments. Always have hope.. I believe Love Is The Answer.
Everybody noticed, that's why their stock finally went up after going down 70% this year. They finally start changing focus, it's just celebrated because it means good things for the company unlike in the case of Twitter were this means bad things for the company. This entire comment section talks about this with the amount of though poured into it equivalent to a high-school drama, fucking embarrassing.
Twitter banned me as soon as I signed up..I don't know how people even log in and post. So I just assumed every on Twitter are imaginaries just playing all at once.
I worked at Twitter before moving over to Abbott. 90% of the people or least the 4 departments i was with barely worked and had so many stupid requests. Now that someone is cracking down they’re all victims.
I currently work at a company that went through a MASSIVE restructuring back in 2010. People had to reapply for their jobs they were hired on for, they had to do interviews for their jobs, and they had to go through the entire hiring process IF they were hired back on (background tests, drug tests, trainings with HR and whatnot). My department went from 30 people to 12. The other embedded department was also cut in half. Everyone who is still there currently (12 years later) say it was literally the worst experience they have ever dealt with in their professional lives. It was stressful, depressing, and its cut productivity and moral. It effected moral so bad that I can still feel it today from the legacy coworkers who didn't loss their jobs. Basically, it sounds like it just fucking sucks and any type of major restructuring like what Twitter is going through now can have a lasting effect to anyone who hasn't lost their jobs. I feel for them.
This happens frequently, and its a big lose-lose situation for the employees b/c they have joined the company during the old model. Which has likely become bloated, corrupt, mismanaged, etc. and are now in a situation where a company wide re-structure is considered. You don't re-structure an efficient, highly profitable company. It's a last resort tactic to try and salvage a dumpster fire of a company. To turn it around back into the black so it can grow again.
i lived similar but for most of us it was a good thing, but, it happened because after the owner sold to his father in law, the man decided to go in hard and address the issues that theguy allowed to fester.. alot of toxic nepotism(nepotism can be fine if its not actually doing harm.. it was badly in this case... we had a genuine borderline "Retared" woman as a manager of a dangerous tech dept... and i mean that by IQ tests, she turns out never wanted that job but was talked into it... when somebody nearly died she ended up crying and absolutely inconsolable for HOURS.. she ended up moving to the shipping dept where she wanted to work when her auntie got her this job... and, im am not trying to be insulting, she a lovely gal... well became one once she snapped out of acting how she was trained to act by auntie.. and was just being herself.. but... never should she have been in charge of people, let alone in a dept where there are dozens of ways to endup dead and endup causing others to die.. just..yeah...not good... the up side was a bunch of us short time and quite a few temps got put into jobs more suiting our skills with decent pay and benefits, they did hire over 2/3 back, the rest were either not hired back due to their perf/issues they caused or because they just didnt re-apply and found other work... even the people who were stressed out by it in the end, were alot happier.. shit one of the managers who was a true karen... became a truly fun part of the after work hangout group once she wasnt tring to do something way out of her depth.. i was shocked... more so when we found out she was dating the nicest single dad in the place... and was SUPER glad for the "Great ShakeUp" as it became known... she made a bit less, but wasnt constantly trying to manage large groups of people and to project authority... she could just run her team and do what she was actually good at and enjoyed doing... it can be SHIT, it can also be a "wow, this place ended up alot better to work for".. we did gut a few depts thanks to the ones that didnt come back.. but, it didnt take long to fill those jobs from lists of lost employees who quit or were let go due to the previous toxic environment.. the old mans goal wasnt to cut spending, it was to get things running smooth so that profits would increase without spending more to replace everybody with trained experienced crews/teams from his other establishments.... and we did also have a good bit of.. people who were genuinely redundant as fuck. and knew it.. (some who didnt come back had been annoyed not being allowed to actually do anything of value because the job they should have been doing was actually just part of somebody elses job they used to justify hiring them... ) real mess... but it actually turned out shockingly good for the company... and even some of the people who werent just laid off but fired, admitted it was a good thing for them in the end , they either found employers that they meshed with better or they grew from it and learned to not be such arrogant know it all noobs... one gal came back and re-applied 9mo after all this settled.. none of us recognized her.. the reason she wasnt hired back.. her hair had been down to the back of her knees and it was a genuine safety concern around that place.. even in the front office they had fans going often to help things dry that could grab it.. turned out she had used it to justify to her mother getting the bobo cut she had wanted since jr.high... and had a wig made from her hair for mother... she got hired back the moment they realized who she was... knowing damn well if they hadnt we would have been asking WTF DUDE!!! because... she was young, cute, and, actually good at her job...and helping with and learning other peoples.. example..this absolute chad of a girl, saw that somebody running a milling machines clearly ill, goes down, asks the other guy if he could teach her to take the fellows place so he could go to the Urgent Care down the block... an hour later shes running it like she had been doing it for years... the other dude said he was going to teach her the rest of the machines manual and cnc because she was just... a natual.. welding, programming for the cnc.... she was a genuine GEM and... when the old man actually offered her a contract to be a manager, it was with higher then average pay for such a job by a good bit.. she was confused and... concerned... owners wife had to explain to her that.. he knew all about her and had heard about her since before he took over ownership and... knew her worth, with all the skills shes got and how quickly she picks up new ones, he saw great value in keeping her around and moving her to each dept learning each job.... just take a guess who ended up being groomed to run the plant for him? just guess? the fact shes great with people.. knows who to be kind and sweet to, and who to be an abject c*nt to.. shes never lost a client for them and has cussed out a few in front of their staff and even family and told them they were fired as a client.. only to have them come back with gifts and to make amends.. because, if you got her that upset... you did something bad... anyway also saw a guy give his fresh MBA daughter control of the company, pull this on most of the staff and eudup nearly killing the company before dad came back in to see what was going on.. she only re-hired people she liked or didnt know somebody to hire for those jobs.... it was so bad... thankfully.. myjob was insulated and i was able to get word to some of our clients they should offer empolyees on their jobs employment directly for their company, and why... he only came in though after their whole network and website went down and he couldnt get any of us on the phone.. then started looking at stuff and... found none of us at work... she told us to all go home and think about our attitudes and shut everything off before we left.. so.. we did.. owner found our MalCom amusing as well.. it helped him save his company... we still got clients from the ones who hired our staff, it actually made shit easier having them providing much more detailed/clear/etc instruction and plans/designs/etc..

"who better for a single dad, then as single mum" .... heh..

Thats it thats his job and he is paid extremely well for it😂 i wont complain if i get a job like that but employees like him are actually not really that important for the company compared to others who actually have work 8 hours a day cause of their work load.
i'll take things that didn't happen for $2000, alex...... bearing in mind he fired basically 70% of staff without proper prior notice, and the fact he bought up twitter using saudi and qatari money, only to immediately make it a private company also bearing in mind Elon is now bleeding $2 billion a day, AFTER using 22$ billion of his own market assets worst takeover strat, not to mention he is basically making up rules on the fly (up to and including killing comedy; if the whole ''you must clearly state PARODY'' tripe is anything to go by, the uptick of users that flooded in that immediately posted the N word 500 times and basically asked for a second holocaust (the noted and apparently newsworthy percentage increase in TOS breaking ettiquette from accounts not even a day old). if musk isn't intentionally tanking twitter i'll be shocked, i'd say he's also tanking his reputation, but then again, accusing a heroic cave diver of being a paedo was kind of fucked. but please keep simping for an elitist, apartheid mine heir and narcissist, who has not stopped posting since the takeover as if he's a teenage girl! almost like he has some developmental issues or a need for validation that borders on the extreme

Bro there are these videos of "Life as a worker at twitter" or something like that , before Elon. And they were literally just walking around, eating and resting all day. One girl was like "Now I have one meeting" and after that she was on a roof because she was "tired."

It’s Friday and I’m still tired from that, and even with the bonus on it I’ll make not even have as much as these Twitter nitwits
It’s not new, the pace at which Elon is doing it is fairly unprecedented, and also why he had to sell billions of Tesla stock to keep Twitter afloat already.
Sure. But firing people, then realizing you actually needed those people. That's not a well organized restructuring. Also Elon taking away the official label (and everyone warning that would be a disaster) and said disaster happens, and now Twitter is bringing Official label back. This is turning into a comedy of errors.
I mean sure but this is less restructured and more dismantled. Like you think Elon has a plan here? His behavior and statements are all over the place. They both removed Twitter Blue because everyone predictably abused it while he's still bragging about how effective it is?

People saying “just look for a new job/have another job on the back burner” It’s F’d up that people lost their jobs and now the entire sector is flooded with experience and talent so it’ll be so hard for them to find a job. This sucks for those people, Good luck to them. It’s understandable to clean house and restructure but I believe it should’ve been done more amicably. Idk if there were people just coasting or people actually working hard for their families, at the end of the day it’s sad for those who were.
If they were that good at their job then they wouldn't have been fired. Probably mostly diversity hires to satisfy the ESG score. Either way, time for them to learn another marketable skill. I heard the US is short about 60k truck drivers and it pays 80k a year. Good luck to them all!
Yeah it really sucks that an engineer who was working 3 hours a day and being paid $120,000 a year got fired because the company he works for realized that they can replace ten lazy engineers like him, with one who will actually work all day.

I don't have issues with Twitter downsizing but there should be a reasonable transition period where the incoming management learns the production processes and assesses employees and management. There hasn't been any sort of that process literally day one he was walking in day one with a sink to meme and firing people. Then having to publicly brainstorm market models just seems pretty amateurish plus asking people you fired to come back looks really bad.
@mirrorsngd there was also some kinda leak of the previous workers who took bribe to give people blue check mark, I haven't look into it but if its true then 8buck a month for everyone vs 15k for the selective "influencers" is already a good change

If you are in a company that gets taken over and there's a restructure happening, my advice is get out as fast as you can! It makes sense for them to do it, it's all good sense and so on, but the process unfortunately EATS humans. The stress and the demands is always insane. So yeah, get out if you can.
We were bought out and everyone now qualified for health insurance and at least half of us got raises. But I understand how this probably isn't the norm.
You do know the employees were selling verified for $15,000 a pop and pocketing the money right..that means they’re going to jail for larceny and embezzlement

A lot of people want Twitter to crash because "FreedoMurica speech" but Twitter is not just American, but accessed by other countries. Its also an amazing hub for artists in general. The recommendations are great and I get to see more artists, and their layout is better than the other art websites. I don't have to keep switching back and forth since they are all on Twitter. Now I have to back up the people I follow.
Someone made a comment that 'xyz person was probably just coasting along doing the minimum requirements.' Doing the minimum requirement for your job isn't grounds for indiscriminate firing. It's in the word REQUIREMENTS. Someone doing the minimum shouldn't receive promotions, above average bonuses, etc. But it doesn't mean they should be fired.
Well, when 50% of the employees need to be fired, if you’re coasting along doing the bare minimum, it doesn’t increase your chances of keeping that job, does it?
Out of touch with the 85 hour work thing being “nuts” I’ve worked for retail companies who expect that kind of work during the holiday season. Retail companies treat their employees much much worse than gaming companies or twitter. This is normal abuse for retail and food workers. A lot of people seem to be out of touch with how hard workers are actually worked.
Agreed with the above comment. I work at a tech company that mistreats workers (fairly notoriously), but I'm sure Fortnite employees during the boom had a living hell.
I still think it’s wild people have the take of “people are only doing what is necessary” like yes. You pay for me x work, I do x work. I do not do y and z unless I am compensated for it
Asmongold is right on the money about the rate of change we are going to see. We are basically in the middle of the second industrial revolution, everything is going to change, every single system we know of is going to get reworked and optimized over time because our technology has progressed exponentially already and it seems to only be getting faster. Its absolutely wild.

Best analogy I can think of is Mike Morhaime apologizing long after leaving blizzard for the culture of rampant discrimination and harassment that was cultivated and allowed to flourish under his watch. Maybe Jack is just trying to get ahead of some future bad PR he may foresee coming his way.
Jack was never suited to lead a company and he knows it. He's a hippie that just wants everyone to like him. He allowed and actively chose to ignore toxic behavior within the company and everyone is now suffering for it.

I'm an outsider as a 26 year old who never got into social media outside of a few hobby forums.. this is both fascinating and completely mind numbing at the same time. I can't figure out why people care about each other's opinions so much on some random app. And now its being destroyed by an egomaniac gajillionaire
It's like high school or college, in the sense that most people tend to care what their peer thinks and those that they interact with or follow them. It helps their ego and make them feel more accepted into society, thus making them feel more important and happier. It's really all just ego. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just people take the whole thing too far.
Having your code go through an external review to keep your job is super stressful. And you know they are going to bring their most intense code review peeps. Not uncommon though when a company looking for top talent takes over. You quickly want to make sure all the new employees roughly meet your standard. So you end up reviewing them in a kind of mock interview.
Justify your value to the company, and evaluate your work quality. It always sounds pretty fair at first. But it can become really ridiculous when actually doing it. Because of the complexity nature of the business, especially when you need to do it in limited time. Not every function in a company has a obviously important role, but if you cut it, sometimes the whole thing is not functional and you have no idea how to fix it.
28:20 - I think there's a fine line between transhumanism and prosthetics. Prosthetics are what takes someone at 80% and brings them closer to 100%. Transhumanism is about attempting to use technology to transcend inherent limitations (or at least, what transhumanists perceive as such) of the human body/mind. It's a way of attempting to go beyond 100%, but I personally believe this will have dire consequences pertaining to things that people have been drifting away from, such as empathy, overall emotional intelligence, being grounded in nature, spirituality, and metaphysics.
I've worked for sixteen years for a software company that's been acquired twice. I can confirm that a code review is typical. The only issue is that the code reviews in our case were done prior to acquisition, not after. The stuff he's doing right now is stuff that he should have set up before even acquiring the company. All the pain these employees are going through is a result of Musk's skipping over his due diligence prior to making the acquisition. Now he's scrambling to bring the company up to a profitable state, so changes that should have been rolled out in a slow and orderly manner are being rolled out abruptly and chaotically.
Wait. How much $ in debt is the "We're the greatest country in the world!" again while their president pretends there's no such thing as inflation and recession? Hypocrites.
It's not just a checkmark advertising only goes to the peaple with checkmarks hell my moms shop was making a few hundred bucks a month just advertising her antique shop on Twitter when she had no checkmark she made nothing then after she had company's pay her money to advertise on her Twitter that's the real value in the checkmark for normal people it's just a checkmark to business owners it's opportunities and free money
About unemployment: i don't know if it's like this outside of Alaska; but if you're fired from a job, you don't get unemployment for 6 weeks, regardless of reason(though you *might* get backpay if they determine you're not responsible). Not 6 weeks from the time you're fired, but 6 weeks of submitting applications through their convoluted system; but before you can start that, you: -have to find the building(as they moved without updating their location online) -find someone able to help you(which can take a bit as most offices are closed due to covid) -fill out an application(hopefully for the right services: they aren't always clear, can be kinda confusing, there isn't always someone to help you, and filling out the wrong one means you have to restart the application process) -wait for a response(could take weeks) -register online(the site can be confusing and difficult to navigate, so assistance might be needed here) -submit applications -enter the submitted applications online -and, finally, do this until you've gone through either 6 weeks of submitting enough applications, or someone hires you It's one thing to make it difficult so it's less likely to be abused for "free money"; but by the time you're finally able to start receiving UI, you'll likely already be on the streets(or, if you're lucky, re-employed...though it might be too late when you are). If anything, the restrictions do more to keep out those legitimately in need as someone in a constant state of using UI will only have to face the 6 weeks once, and they might even *discourage* trying to get a job as it'd mean another 6 week penalty if it doesn't work out.
BOOHOO!! :( I HAVE TO WORK FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE WORKING FOR TWITTER. Have you guys seen the video of the lady that posted a day working at twitter. Honestly, people who keep saying Twitter is dead, have no idea what they're talking about. Twitter didn't need even a tiny fraction of what it had for employees
He can want that. but I would NEVER put that much into a JOB that can replace me any day of the week. my time in way more imported than what they pay. and to me it seems like in The USA its more about the time you put in and don't matter how much to do.

Good job downsizing. If Twitter can run with 3700 less employees, that's just a great business decision. Twitter doesn't need the full-time censors anymore lol
Automation has historically created more jobs than it took. Remember someone has to design, prototype, build, operate, and maintain those robots/machines. Amazon learned that the hard way, hence they still employ an absolute shit ton of warehouse workers, the robots do the heavy lifting, but the people do the detailed tasks.
it wasnt elon musk who chose each person to fire, it was management, so if someone who works hard was fired, its not elon musks fault. its the management who is incharge of that who chose their friends over actual competent workers
it's odd that it did happen at the same time as elon took over twitter then. He probably took the decision to fire X ppl and then management had to pick X numbers of ppl.
@@xzoddy What i meant is, when you ask an abitrary numbers. If there is not enough slacker to fire, you end up firing good employes because you have to meet the number asked. And as you point out, you migh even have ppl having their ass saved by friend. Elon musk share a part on the responsibility here. He decided the action to happen and probably also decided the number that needed to be lay off.
10:43 Bad analogy. It's more like: We don't see why we need you, you don't really do that much damage and we envision this new guild as an all-out damage raid group that face-tanks everything. Because dodging and cures are for pansies. /kick healer [Group wipes to trash pulls] Welp, guess we needed someone to keep us alive even if they don't do the damage we envisioned for this guild. Can we invite some healers back?
Elon owns Twitter he can do whatever he wants with it! The same thing happened to me and it totally sucked but life goes on. So much crap was going on at Twitter that I am surprised he only got rid of 3700 Employees.
Holy fuck so many bootlickers here. He can do whatever he wants but it doesn’t mean people aren’t gonna criticise him. He’s a terrible leader, his twitter blue idea was SO dumb, it already got pulled lmao. The only good thing elon has done is give us reusable rockets
The way I see it, it was with intention. This is the smartest and fastest way to replace their contract. They are let go, but if they want to work again at Twitter they will have to follow the new guidelines without the complications of dealing with possible lawsuits. I think we have seen this better in the game industry too. It's not a new method too.
Literally just got laid off last week, the company that bought out ours a year ago decided to clean up the books, so they chose the youngest person in each department, plus a few mid-age others based on pay. People are pissed because they laid-off some really necessary people, and kept some milkers. Obviously not a decision based on merit, just numbers and legalities. Not saying it's a blanket statement, but sometimes merit doesn't matter. While the decision-makers sometimes know employees' value more than them, sometimes they don't and make accounting based decisions which end up having consequences in Terms of normal company operations, example being Elon wanting to rehire employees that were let go. Will acknowledge that I'm partially just venting here lol
Usually social media subs are about 10-15% of the user base… so if Twitter has 250 million users, 10% is 25 million. 25 million users paying 8$ is 200 million $ per month. Divided by 30 days - that’s about 6.6 million daily for 10% the user base at 250 million. That would put the company profit/loss ratio beyond the 4 million/day loss it currently has, or making 2.66 million a day pure profit from subscriptions alone. As advertisers return to the platform after their “pause” (let’s be honest they will) - the company can and likely will become profitable in a very short while. I love seeing people with 0 business experience or knowledge talk about how twitter is being driven into the ground, while that’s a stupid take. Sure Elon fucked up many times but that’s the engineers’ approach - break stuff, fix it and make it better, then break it even more. I’m happy I get to see this unfold publicly.
@@Torjus_ Elon wanted Twitter to be a free speech platform , banning Parody accounts would be against his own ideals Then again after he became CEO he immediately was against impersonation / parody accounts

I think the reason that automation will not replace 90% of jobs is that new jobs will be made to make use of humans, because that is typically what has happened in the past.
People feeling sorry for Twitter employees losing their jobs is cute. Don’t feel sorry for people losing well into six figure jobs; feel sorry for the average income Andy who makes $40k a year. Smh.
My dad was a top executive accountant for Labatt about 20 years ago when they got bought out. They laid off the entire executive suite to put their own people in place and left the rest of the company alone. Nothing Elon has done surprised me.
wait asking ppl what you do and how you help the company make money is not the typical way companies do things? Tf has this guy ever worked a real job ever?
If you are smart and clever and are great at your job, put in time etc. you will be generally successful, but.. If the shit hits the fan and it's between you and the guy that sucks up to the boss - And you made a point of not doing that - The other guy gets the job. Every time. So , do your work AND even though they are tossers, suck it up and tell the boss they are wonderful every now and then. It is for your own good. (But don't let them see your Twitter)
Unable to see any irony? Yes, that may be loser talk. I wasn't too clear trying to say it's a truism - no one likes it. I was also implying we do sometimes do those weak things and will do them even if we don't like it- You know loser stuff. Or thinking of the kids and wife stuff maybe? When you are already having trouble paying the bills stuff? But hey tell the boss to screw himself or else Geze news might think you're a loser. And maybe being nice to your boss makes you a better human being. Maybe the boss deserves it? It might be more complicated. Anyhow it was a dumb comment, I'll admit that.
What do they do at Twitter? Get free coffee, play ping pong, have meeting, eat snack, eat lunch, more coffee, yoga class, meeting, then meeting coworkers at the lounge 😄
paying twitter employees is like paying stazi agents in east germany for violating your human rights and running a dictatorship "let us pay you for the privelege of being oppressed" thanks twitter lol
Its hilariously dumb that Asmon thinks that the boss and manager are “the ones who designed the assembly line”, my brother in Christ their daddy was CFO and got them a position after they barely made it through business school….
For those thinking that 80% is too high a number, do realize that realistically, a decent portion of jobs are at risk the second self driving cars are allowed to exist properly. Just that is 10% of the work force done overnight. And this is just one of the many facets in which people should just be out of work overnight, not many jobs exist that can't be automated.
From a security standpoint, I wouldn't be on Twitter right now. Great chance of your info getting compromised. So of course that's when a bunch of people sign up. 😂
Oh no, my information got compromised, now the government knows I like pepe memes and told some guy to fuck off yesterday. Better go off grid for a while.

Pressuring your workforce to quit to avoid unemployment and not informing them of their right to severance afterwards is a pretty filthy move for a billionaire.
Spoken like a true CEO on a lot of these subjects. Always the worst takes when it's not in support of the workers. When Asmon talks about video games I agree with him on most things. When the business side of things leaks in though, yikes. He definitely is not a good boss. A good business man if earning money is the only goal, but I feel bad for people that are subjected to bosses that only see the money.
Weird. I emember Him saying something about 40h per week not 84. Is it MSM misinformation, which happens commonly ? Like when they reported how many users were lost but forgot to mention how many more were "created"
To be fair that find out your fired by changed password thing. You should never give any company that thinks that's ok 2 weeks notice on quiting they've made a choice.
Every employee at twitter lost access to their work accounts while the offices were closed. Then they later all got an email with the decision made. It's not like they weren't told.
I feel like the insta-layoff was a good play to prevent ex-employees from disrupting future changes. Because some of the people fired may be software engineers, etc and could change all kinds of things to disrupt new Twitter if they know they are being laid off.
And you think the people still there won't? Treating workers like that doesn't exactly engender loyalty. I guarantee you the vast majority of people left are planning their exit right now.
@@Ironysandwich its possible they could if they aren't scared of the ramifications. But of course we don't know all the details of how they targeted those layoffs. Business wise, having less people lowers the risk, and the people who didn't get laid off should know they kept their job because they are needed.
@@DawningOblivion The people who are still there kept their job by random chance, and they know it. And what kind of idiocy is "having less people lowers the risk". The risk isn't some random chance thing from some random employee, it's systematic. You have fewer people, sure. That's fewer people to cause problems AND fewer people to watch out and put a stop to problems. Equal responsibility being hoisted on half the people means that each individual now has a much larger capacity to cause damage with fewer redundancies or oversight to catch them.
I am not surprised about the massive fattrimming. Alot of the "managers" had, by thier own bragging, 4h work weeks. That's not bloody sustainable. I'd also assume the workhours will drop to something more reasonable, it does mainly serve to see what workers have the ambition, guts and sheer willpower to keep working at the company. But we'll see.

I then had a dream of Jesus coming before God and he spoke of the Tabernacle in perfect context, "A word I didn't know existed because I never read the bible", and the love I felt from Jesus was unlike anything I've ever felt before - A lifetime of joy every second - It brought me to sobbing and it changed my life, forever.

(some who didnt come back had been annoyed not being allowed to actually do anything of value because the job they should have been doing was actually just part of somebody elses job they used to justify hiring them... )
real mess... but it actually turned out shockingly good for the company... and even some of the people who werent just laid off but fired, admitted it was a good thing for them in the end , they either found employers that they meshed with better or they grew from it and learned to not be such arrogant know it all noobs...
one gal came back and re-applied 9mo after all this settled.. none of us recognized her.. the reason she wasnt hired back.. her hair had been down to the back of her knees and it was a genuine safety concern around that place.. even in the front office they had fans going often to help things dry that could grab it.. turned out she had used it to justify to her mother getting the bobo cut she had wanted since jr.high... and had a wig made from her hair for mother... she got hired back the moment they realized who she was... knowing damn well if they hadnt we would have been asking WTF DUDE!!! because... she was young, cute, and, actually good at her job...and helping with and learning other peoples..
example..this absolute chad of a girl, saw that somebody running a milling machines clearly ill, goes down, asks the other guy if he could teach her to take the fellows place so he could go to the Urgent Care down the block... an hour later shes running it like she had been doing it for years... the other dude said he was going to teach her the rest of the machines manual and cnc because she was just... a natual.. welding, programming for the cnc.... she was a genuine GEM and... when the old man actually offered her a contract to be a manager, it was with higher then average pay for such a job by a good bit.. she was confused and... concerned... owners wife had to explain to her that.. he knew all about her and had heard about her since before he took over ownership and... knew her worth, with all the skills shes got and how quickly she picks up new ones, he saw great value in keeping her around and moving her to each dept learning each job.... just take a guess who ended up being groomed to run the plant for him? just guess? the fact shes great with people.. knows who to be kind and sweet to, and who to be an abject c*nt to.. shes never lost a client for them and has cussed out a few in front of their staff and even family and told them they were fired as a client.. only to have them come back with gifts and to make amends.. because, if you got her that upset... you did something bad...
anyway also saw a guy give his fresh MBA daughter control of the company, pull this on most of the staff and eudup nearly killing the company before dad came back in to see what was going on.. she only re-hired people she liked or didnt know somebody to hire for those jobs.... it was so bad... thankfully.. myjob was insulated and i was able to get word to some of our clients they should offer empolyees on their jobs employment directly for their company, and why... he only came in though after their whole network and website went down and he couldnt get any of us on the phone.. then started looking at stuff and... found none of us at work... she told us to all go home and think about our attitudes and shut everything off before we left.. so.. we did.. owner found our MalCom amusing as well.. it helped him save his company... we still got clients from the ones who hired our staff, it actually made shit easier having them providing much more detailed/clear/etc instruction and plans/designs/etc..
Except people barely worked, it was described as a hang out lounge. It needed restructuring

the ONLY up side was.. his ex-wife showed up and, thanked us for having had recordings of him stashing the thermite.. turns out he did the same thing to her home one night after the divorce and this was enough proof that one he was done facing charges in portland, he would face charges in cali next.. also he was going to prison because of our 1200p cctv setup that had video of him stashing the stuff and it going off via something he had plugged into one of the servers on that rack.... it went up stupid fast and the alum and steel of those racks started to actually burn.. the sprinkers both helped and made it worse... thank gods the racks were sealed with filtered air on them all.. just fuck the mess would have been so much worse.. also glad nobody was close.. the light alone woujld have burned the hsit out of them... if they looked at it..blindness is a possibility.... he used iron rust, alum shavings and mag shavings in his mix and when he knew he was caught he went from denial to bragging about it... sick fucks still in prison... and his ex ended up working for the company.. why? because they needed a C# developer and... when asked what she did for a living it came up.. she was escorted to HR and asked to fill out some forms.. she realized they were hiring forms... and the contract gave her a large moving bonus that would cover just moving and replacing everything they didnt consider dear to them.. that mostly burned with the house anyway...
she was a riot.. married a single dad who was.. smitten the moment he saw her.. but awkward as hell around women.. had her wondering if he disliked her till 78yo betty tells her "no dear, he likes you, hes just got no idea how to show it properly".. im told, by betty, the look on her face was "oh, shit, thats whats going on".... then thought and asking about him when she found out he was a single dad and the 3 kids who helped out after school were his... we... she did the talking and asked him out... but warned him she had kids as well soo... apparently he knew that but not how many and was pleased by that...
It does when your company is losing money. At that point being just good enough … isn’t.

Out of touch with the 85 hour work thing being “nuts” I’ve worked for retail companies who expect that kind of work during the holiday season. Retail companies treat their employees much much worse than gaming companies or twitter. This is normal abuse for retail and food workers.
His takes on things that require real world experiences are always so odd,
Having your code go through an external review to keep your job is super stressful.
Being an auto assembly worker, I hear your opinion, but vehemently reject it.

About unemployment:
i don't know if it's like this outside of Alaska; but if you're fired from a job, you don't get unemployment for 6 weeks, regardless of reason(though you *might* get backpay if they determine you're not responsible). Not 6 weeks from the time you're fired, but 6 weeks of submitting applications through their convoluted system; but before you can start that, you:
-have to find the building(as they moved without updating their location online)
-find someone able to help you(which can take a bit as most offices are closed due to covid)
-fill out an application(hopefully for the right services: they aren't always clear, can be kinda confusing, there isn't always someone to help you, and filling out the wrong one means you have to restart the application process)
-wait for a response(could take weeks)
-register online(the site can be confusing and difficult to navigate, so assistance might be needed here)
-submit applications
-enter the submitted applications online
-and, finally, do this until you've gone through either 6 weeks of submitting enough applications, or someone hires you
It's one thing to make it difficult so it's less likely to be abused for "free money"; but by the time you're finally able to start receiving UI, you'll likely already be on the streets(or, if you're lucky, re-employed...though it might be too late when you are). If anything, the restrictions do more to keep out those legitimately in need as someone in a constant state of using UI will only have to face the 6 weeks once, and they might even *discourage* trying to get a job as it'd mean another 6 week penalty if it doesn't work out.
They layed off the people with less code, that's yandere dev mentality lmao.

“We might lose billions” is not something the new CEO should say 2 weeks after taking over
Usually social media subs are about 10-15% of the user base… so if Twitter has 250 million users, 10% is 25 million.

@@DawningOblivion
The people who are still there kept their job by random chance, and they know it.
