    Episode Notes:
    1. All games captured via the Mega SG.
    2. If Sega of America had any sense at all, they would have licensed Konami's Batman Returns engine from the SNES game and done one for the Mega Drive. Can you imagine how a Sega CD version would have been with those driving sections and a beat'em up of that quality?
    3. Many of these games had SNES variants that were often very different games. Only a hand full of these titles were direct ports.
    4. Konami had a Genesis version of Biker Mice From Mars in development at some point but cancelled it before release.
    5. Konami's custom sound driver drove many of these games. Stuff like Sunset Riders, TMNT, and Rocket Night Adventures, all used the same tools.
    6. Konami has a few trademarks when it came to Genesis development. They loved using huge multi jointed sprites, and many of their games features some form of reflection special effect.
    7. The TMNT Tournament Fighters that appeared on the SNES is often considered a great game compared to the Genesis effort. Honestly, while I do feel its a better game, it's still a second rate fighter.
    8. Frogger was on the Genesis, which Konami held the license to, but had nothing to do with the development of that particular game. Junction was on the Genesis as well, another Konami owned license, but it was done by Micronet.

No Mini console shall be perfect, it's the rule of nature. I wanted to tear my heart out that Sega didn't replace what little chaff was in the mix with bigger titles like RKA and Ristar. Man, those games would have been great to have; true classics. Instead we get garbage like Virtua Fighter 2, ugh!

To be fair, we did get "Contra: Hard Corps" and "Castlevania: Bloodlines." Still, it definitely would've been nice. When I was a kid, I had "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time" on the SNES (I sold it about three years ago, in box, with the instruction manual -- as near to mint condition as you can get -- because I was hard up for money). To be honest, I've never played "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Hyperstone Heist." It does look like a quality TMNT game, though.

I remember renting Rocket Knight back on the day. Nobody knew about it. Nobody played it. It was dusting on the shelve of the store when I gave it a try, based on the great cover, Konami's logo and advice from the owner that, despite not being as popular as other famous games, it was a really good one. I was absolutely shocked with it's quality when I first played it. Graphics, gameplay, music, everything was so well made that you quickly were dragged into the game and invested in that heroic possum mission. Sprayed the word among my friends, they just mocked me (yeah, a possum, right) and went to rent some sports game that was played thousand times before. It didn't bother me, tho, cause is a good feeling knowing that you are right and everybody else around isn't.

Nowadays the license of the Turtles go everywhere and qualities can be questionable). @@user-dv2hc8zt3o I dare to disagree, knowing that my opinion is on the minority side on this matter. Gunstar Heroes is, indeed, a great game, and it's fame is well deserved, no doubt about that. But I found myself enjoying more the experience of RKA. From my pov, the gameplay in RKA offers you more variety and the game mechanics are, overall, very unique, like pinballing your way up the walls with the rocket and stuff like that. GH, in my opinion, is not far away from shooters like Contra, and it's mechanics seems way more basic, run, shoot, blow everything on the way. Is fun as hell and it's take on that is, perhaps, the best of the entire fourth generation, but still, in the core, I think RKA is a game with more depth.

Here's a cool idea that you might want to try to implement in these styles of video. You should maybe try having a visual timeline showing the box art for each game along a straight line representing the month and year that each one came out, and just go down the line as you review them. That way the viewers get a visual representation of when these games actually came out and in relation to each other, and that way they can easily see the timeline of when each and every title from the developer came out. It would be a good way for ppl to be able to reminisce about the early 90's when these games came out. Might be a cool lil idea to implement in future video's.

This was fun to watch. Konami did some good work on the Genesis, even if there were some stinkers and disappointments along the way. Sunset Riders was always tough for me, as the bullets blend into the background for me. The reduction in meg count was unfortunate. I always liked Hyperstone Heist. While Turtles in Time on SNES has its plus points such as more distinct stages, more enemy types, different special effects(throwing Foot Soldiers at the screen was NOT Mode 7 and was quite possible to do on the Genesis, and even other systems), Hyperstone Heist has a better control setup with run being on a button, more frames of animation on the Turtles, and I think the FM music is better(it's at least much closer to the arcade). And Castlevania Bloodlines is fantastic.
Perhaps you've already thought of this, as you're very good at coming up with topics, but you could also cover Capcom and Konami on PC Engine. As for Genesis, perhaps Namco would be another one to cover this way.

Hyperstone Heist is SO close to arcade perfect, every time I play it I get every bit as much enjoyment as playing the arcade versions (this era of TMNT is classic, epic, but also basically sprite-swapping and different backgrounds). Though the recipe had been cooked up a few times over, the consistency in gameplay and those big, beautiful sprites never get old! (Crapcade 1-Up even shelled out the money for a 4-player unit... I really do hate their products). Yet Konami’s consistency in the original arcades looks, play style, mechanics and pure, simple fun across all iterations and platforms is truly epic!

Sega Lord X is killing it with all these great vids. I think a video about Konami's Japanese titles will be on the cards in the future.
