Is it just me or did anyone else REALLY enjoy this film. The whole vibe is just so wholesome and Sarah is my favourite actor. One of my favourites, was sad to see it end 💔😭
Okay, i watch interviews and vids of Sarah Paulson pretty often and, watching the movie, i really had the feeling that it was her yk? Like in AHS or other movies you can definitely make the difference between her and the character cause they’re so different but watching this movie i was like,,, nah this IS her. So then i decided to come here and saw that it was improvisation and went “oh shit so that’s where that vibe came from” and i really really loved it
YESS I HAD THE SAME THING? I've watched a lot of her as well and I was like, huh, why does it seem like this is something she would normally do or say in that particular way
It’s 2019, yes, and I just saw this film and yes again, I cried. It broke my heart, the ending was a torture for me. I kept on repeating the end scene because I can’t believe it’s ending. It hit me straight into my heart 💔 It’s sad.
Me too! I’m trying to try to figure out how things ended for Jim and Amanda. Did they part for good? Did they find each other after Amanda’s husband dies? Did she go see her sister, and her sister give her the push she needs to get a divorce and be with Jim? I just need closer!😭
How can you not fall in love displaying that honesty in acting . the two of them in that bubble. That intimacy, that vulnerability, the way they expose themselves. When you plunge that deep it can't be without consequences on your soul... my opinion.
This film made me feel pain for a relationship I never had. 💔 It's so brilliant. The cinematography, the actors' superb performance! 👏 The ending had me bawling!!!
This movie makes me cry and suffer for a lost love story that i don't even had in the first place! It's so raw and realistic and beautifully sad. It puts me in a place where i reflect about life and it all sums up to love and choices. And it is so goddam scary and heartwhelming at the same time. And don't even get me started about the acting and the photography. Just phenomenal.
I loved that movie so much that I told my Arts teacher to watch it too. It's pretty, simple, sad and nostalgic. One of the best things I have ever watched
I finished a bottle gin buy myself the other night. After the second watch. It made me remembering a past relationship I chose to end because it would hurt my family if I committed with that particular girl. I poured my first glass towards the end of the movie when they both admitted "it was never the same after their past romance". I started shedding tears, I couldn't handle it, I had to drink. Very beautiful movie. Piece of art.
It s actually 4:15 am rn here in Germany and i finished watching that movie and Goddamit , it s freaking beautiful . Made me think back about a love story that i once had, which is very special to my heart .. i guess
I just saw the Holdovers last night that's currently being touted as a gem and realized that when compared to such touted movies like Barbie or Maestro, the small movies like Blue Jay are those that appeal most to me, in spite of the fact that likely they won't generate as much recognition at the water cooler at work. Mark Duplass and Sarah Paulson sold me on this movie and I'm glad I went along for the ride!
fantastic movie...with all the emotions they go through, you feel for them....then you remember things that you went through were similar...amazing actors too....well done to all involved...10/10 !
This film was powerful - it really works on your emotions. I have been a big fan of Paulson since the wonderful American Crime Story series- The People vs O J Simpson. I was telling the movie buff son of my oldest friend about how much I had admired Sarah as Marcie Clark in the O.J. drama (and Carol), and he told me I really should see 'Blue Jay'. 😍
Gracias totales!!!! Chapeau!!!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌✨✨✨
As per usual I am late to the party but, having just finished watching Blue Jay I was also really into it. I love that it was improvised largely. There was an honesty in the moments and where the story lead was right and not contrived which in my opinion is really rare. It is easy to make a movie and leave the ending open but, it is really hard to do it where it is the right decision and it fits naturally. Thanks for such a lovely story. Peter St. John Hollister, CA
I got interested in watching after reading the overview of the movie Blue Jay. But not with the title. If not reading some comments here, I would still wonder about the idea why it was so for the title. At once, I related the overview to my experience. But not the reason of their separating. The conversations, the feeling and expression of love being controlled, and the way they stared each other. I let myself in a memory lane while watching it. Plus the fact that Jim(Mark Duplass) was the same name as my ex boyfriend. We were separated 39 years ago...but I may say the love is still inside of my heart, and in his, too. But a love that is just for keeps. We have our respective good family, anyway. The black and white organically added to the goodness of what I was seeing. There were tears excitedly coming out of my eyes because I could not deny the fact that I was really immersed in the story. That the dialogue of Amanda seemed to come out from my very own mouth! Oh what a feeling! Second movie I saw that I related to my own story. Hope to watch more like this type. Thumbs up to the characters and the story itself. 1
Ok so SPOILER ALERT Can someone please explain the ending to me... Like I get he gives her the letter and it changes some things for them but then it just cuts... So is she just gonna go back to her life now and this was just them getting closure for that time in their lives or is it implying something more between them in the future??
I think at that very moment, the characters didn't know how to deal with the revelations either. That was the point of the ending being the way it was... to make you wonder. Beauty of it is you can use your own imagination to create the ending you want for them.
It caught me in the first second... couldn't take my eyes off it!!!...By the way, what's up with Mark's hair??!!??...I'm dying to brush those sweaty hairs to the side or something!
Is it just me or did anyone else REALLY enjoy this film. The whole vibe is just so wholesome and Sarah is my favourite actor. One of my favourites, was sad to see it end 💔😭
Thıs movıe ıs perfect
This was a really good movie. Nostalgia.... a movie about choices and their consequences... things you cannot change. This made me cry.
Sarah is like my queen when it comes to actors

I know exactly what you mean!
I had the exact same thought!! The looks and the laugh and even the lines were just so her.....i loved it
YESS I HAD THE SAME THING? I've watched a lot of her as well and I was like, huh, why does it seem like this is something she would normally do or say in that particular way
@@ornacia9330 exactly!!
Agree! The blurted laughs, the looks and the silence. So her. "Exposing" in a good way like what she said ❤️
I just watched this and...just phenomenal
It’s 2019, yes, and I just saw this film and yes again, I cried. It broke my heart, the ending was a torture for me. I kept on repeating the end scene because I can’t believe it’s ending. It hit me straight into my heart 💔
It’s sad.
I was handle it really great, I was watching the movie and suddenly it ended and then I started to cry.
Same for me during quarantine in 2020
Me too! I’m trying to try to figure out how things ended for Jim and Amanda. Did they part for good? Did they find each other after Amanda’s husband dies? Did she go see her sister, and her sister give her the push she needs to get a divorce and be with Jim? I just need closer!😭

This film is so underrated. It’s much more like foreign cinema in its style which is refreshing. So endearing between the two of them.

It was a amazing movie I wasn't expecting so many elements. Sarah Paulson's performance was beautiful I'd watch it again.
I watched this 2 times in a row because I was so amazed by it (and so not ready to let it go)
YES! I love how Carol (2015) dir. Todd Hanes is mentioned 😭 and yes it did deserve every award it was nominated for!

I really enjoyed this film. So beautiful the relationship between the two of them. Sarah seems to have amazing chemistry with everyone .
Such a heart warming beautiful movie. Stirs the emotions.
Such a lovely film. Sarah Paulson is heart melting.
I just finished watching this movie right now, and I can’t stop crying. I REALLY CANT STOP CRYING.
Just watched it. As a Brit man of 60yrs, I feel the aame.
Wonderful movie. Wish I'd seen this interview before I watched it... I had no idea it was mostly improvised. Good reason to watch it again.
I loved that movie so much that I told my Arts teacher to watch it too. It's pretty, simple, sad and nostalgic. One of the best things I have ever watched
I was crying a lot.. one of the saddest and most beautiful movies I have ever watched . Beautiful playing, fantastic screenplay. 🥰

As a 60yr old guy, this film mesmerised me and upset me in equal measure. Older folks will know why.
Loved this and Sarah Paulson always.

Because it’s pretty
If anyone knows how to find out which theatres are showing Blue Jay please share. Google doesn't know.

lol thanks mr duplass :P According to moviefone it's only playing in one movie theatre in new york city so if that's true I'd be very disappointed
+missknisely its VOD next week.
true true, I'll have to do that even though I wanted the whole theatre experience :/.
missknisely on Netflix mate

It caught me in the first second... couldn't take my eyes off it!!!...By the way, what's up with Mark's hair??!!??...I'm dying to brush those sweaty hairs to the side or something!
just realized shes the teacher from matilda
She's not actually... That character is played by Embeth Davidtz but they are similar in appearance and mannerisms
Brigadier Blue Googled it saw a bunch of people thinking the same as me. and even some side by side photos showing there similarities. good movie.
Yeah it's a very reasonable thought... they are incredibly similar in appearance ... not surprised people thought they were the same person
She's not, but I can see were you're coming from
🤯
This movie is so cringey espeically when they dance
Real
