As someone who has suffered from and anxiety from early childhood, I related to this 100%! Something as simple as leaving a simple recording like this or simply saying “here” and raising your hand in class when your name is being called out for attendance, can be exactly like this. Overthinking can cause real damage emotionally. I’ve had days when because of my overthinking, I wouldn’t leave my room. I’d just sleep so that I could shut it off. Loved the video!
Ericka Rivas I started to go to a therapist, it helped out so much. I am way better now, the anxiety isn’t completely gone. There are days where I begin to feel like this again, but it isn’t an everyday thing anymore. Things do get better ☺️
Was referred to watch this video by another UA-cam creator. What a prime example of “it’s not what you have, it’s what you do with it”. Also, I spent 2 hours trying to record the perfect voicemail message last night and eventually threw my hands in the air, said “fuck this shit” and left it to the stock message lmao.
I love Mark Duplass, and his story is a great inspiration and motivator for me personally. However, one thing that is often overlooked is the fact that he's an amazing actor. If he was not a good actor, and simply a self-motivated filmmaker with subpar acting skills, I doubt he would have gotten to where he is today.
I will now make a film. I thought I needed thousands and thousands of dollars to do it but obviously I only need a camera and an idea. I have both. BOOM! Thanks
That’s all that matters, no cinematography good lighting or even decent audio. Just damn good content. I’d watch more shorts if they were half as good as this 😅
This is so fantastic, it’s like now he’s deleted his old one he’s in too deep and has to come up with something decent but he just can’t. AKA me every day
Thanks for uploading! I could totally see someone present day, now, having a quarter life crisis going through this trying to leave a voicemail greeting on their new smartphone...
Check it out guys. A film movement predicated off of the subversion of unneccesary cinematic fundamentals such as cinematography, lighting, audio, writing. Who needs these things??
Mark said the camera sensor had a dead pixel. I assume it was mostly corrected in the transfer to film, but you can still see it @5:42 (it's easier to spot if you watch in motion, rather than on pause).
i undersand you its ok. dont worry or stress out abould it ok. its ok i promes you that i do und... you ok. im here to help you when you need it ok. with respct and love to you.
This short is good, but the audio and film quality are lacking, if it were me, I would’ve taken more time to iron out the kinks. Like a couple more takes wouldn’t hurt, just to get it right.
It's a dramatic conflict with comedic overtones. You can almost feel his frustration while watching, and see how his mind just depletes by the end. And, it makes you laugh at the same time, while making you feel stress, frustration, and discomfort.
Dunno. The Papa Johns magnet on the fridge ruined it for me. Never, ever eat at Papa Johns. facebook.com/StopTheTeaParty/photos/a.609599295740011.1073741824.502122049821070/770253083007964/
what's funny is that the first voicemail recording was the best
Mark said this was the worst audio Sundance has ever had in their festival to this day. Love this short.
Featured on NPR today. This is a day in the life of someone filled with self-doubt and/or anxiety. I can relate!
Love this. Laughed heartily with self recognition through out.

I hope you had an amazing day today! Know you are amazing and wonderful :)
Audria M. Thank you so much! 💕
Omg these exact same things happens to me too 🥺
Ericka Rivas I started to go to a therapist, it helped out so much. I am way better now, the anxiety isn’t completely gone. There are days where I begin to feel like this again, but it isn’t an everyday thing anymore. Things do get better ☺️
Proof that you don't need millions of dollars, hell, you don't even need great equipment to make a good short movie. This is one of my favourites.
Thank you @BreneBrown for the great interview that prompted me to watch this. I laughed and cried and ugly cried and felt like i belong

Wow, this is great film making.
The famous $3 film...superb 👌🏼
Pretty sure that wine costs more then 3$

RIVALS isn’t he? One of my favourites, he’s so fantastic in the two Creep movies
Love Mark Duplass on Tammy, and his voicework on Big Mouth
How did they ever get inside my head? This makes me feel less alone.
I got stressed and laugh at the same time. I just can relate with it in weird deep ways. Thanks for making this, Duplass Brothers.
An awesome piece of art. I was moved when he said “I’m so sorry.” It could mean so many different things, but I so know that feeling.
I will now make a film. I thought I needed thousands and thousands of dollars to do it but obviously I only need a camera and an idea. I have both. BOOM! Thanks
soooo, did you make it????
Yeah dude, did you?
Wheres the film!
COME ON
Another empty promise made by a fake filmmaker full of wasted potential
Incredibly, achingly real, funny, and sad. We all have our moments!
Un bon moment m'a amené ici ^^
Jay Duplass' kitchen reminds me of my old house.. I miss it so much
Literally what I go through every time I’m making an audition tape.
The guy is a legit psycho...just watch him in Creep or The One I love. One of the most talented actors of the millenium.
And so underrated!
Yes very nice actor... Love his movies a lot
Check out how creepy he is in S2 of Goliath on Amazon. I love everything that man does.
I love this. I think i almost cried from laughter the first time I saw this

Me when I have to record an out office greeting at work, minus the wine of course! That comes later. Well done, great nostalgic piece!!!
Its wine AND mint for me :)
From someone who has crippling OCD, this is tragic.....and yet hilarious
This is so fantastic, it’s like now he’s deleted his old one he’s in too deep and has to come up with something decent but he just can’t. AKA me every day
This was pure genius!
His acting is amazing! Creep is my favorite horror movie
Made for $3...
Tiktok brought me here
This fucking guy. I love this guy. Also I found this very, very relatable.
Thanks for uploading! I could totally see someone present day, now, having a quarter life crisis going through this trying to leave a voicemail greeting on their new smartphone...
More like a text. Like 50 drafts. Lol
Best movie about OCD
texas is the new hotbed for filmmakers-what a great concept-wish i'd thought of that-Duplassity!!!
See the August 2015 issue of Wired. Great story of how this got made.

So this is how he went crazy in Creep(2014)
Awesome
Oh so this is where they get that laugh from on all the tictoks...
Check it out guys. A film movement predicated off of the subversion of unneccesary cinematic fundamentals such as cinematography, lighting, audio, writing. Who needs these things??
That actor looks familiar. Is he the same guy who played Josef in Creep?
Yes
I think he was Brian in The League
Thanks for this! I really enjoyed it.
Here after reading their book
Perfectionism Exemplar
Thanks for posting this!
Where´s that dead pixel at?
+Santiago ZR Right?? I'm very disappointed
+Carlos Gallon at 5:49 it's very noticeable in the lower right quad.
Yeah, still don't see it... This probably the biggest reason why I looked for this short film online XD
can you explain this?
Mark said the camera sensor had a dead pixel. I assume it was mostly corrected in the transfer to film, but you can still see it @5:42 (it's easier to spot if you watch in motion, rather than on pause).
Love it! Awesome channel! Can't wait to watch what else you guys come out with.
In his book he says they thought of putting it on UA-cam. But UA-cam didn't launch until 2005. Mandela effect?
Oohh that's actually kind of spooky
probably just misremembered when they wanted to put it on youtube
funniest 7 minute film ever made
What living alone does to a dude
hilarious brilliant
genius - very relatable indeed
i undersand you its ok. dont worry or stress out abould it ok. its ok i promes you that i do und... you ok. im here to help you when you need it ok. with respct and love to you.

This was the point he decided to go live in the woods, and change his name to Josef.
Marina Rollman brought me here 😄

One of the weirdest people if I have ever watched, Mark is just strange
His phone number changed haha

Your outgoing is flippn pinpoint

He is a great actor and I mean this with no disrespect but I do not at all see what is so great about this film
i’m gonna make a movie now
🎥❤️👈🔥👉❤️🎬
Tik Tok brought me here
Wait...they ran an editing company when they made this...and they didn't edit it themselves? And it took *2* people to edit? 🤨
This short is good, but the audio and film quality are lacking, if it were me, I would’ve taken more time to iron out the kinks. Like a couple more takes wouldn’t hurt, just to get it right.
Where is the dead pixel?
Would this get into Sundance in 2019?
Beasty Matt it already did back in 2003
Nah
The origin of a serial killer.
It's... John Ashford
who came here for the dead pixel???
The duplass bros make films that are pure ass
I don’t know about this piece you should check
Me out on Cockroach Blues
Is he a Pisces? Asking for a friend...
Consider taking the easy way out.
Yo grabando un audio xd
This is so fucking funny I feel so bad for you if you don't get the humour
wow. how is this considered good. it was spectacular for Boring the shit out of me in 7 minutes.
It's a dramatic conflict with comedic overtones. You can almost feel his frustration while watching, and see how his mind just depletes by the end. And, it makes you laugh at the same time, while making you feel stress, frustration, and discomfort.
i first want to say thank you - you are the first time i have been replied to online - PEACE
Hahaha, really?
@@xxoxia lol talk about an over stretch.
I don't get it

I don’t find it funny BYE- 🏃🏻♀️
Dunno. The Papa Johns magnet on the fridge ruined it for me. Never, ever eat at Papa Johns. facebook.com/StopTheTeaParty/photos/a.609599295740011.1073741824.502122049821070/770253083007964/
I didn’t get it at all. It’s just a voice message. What’s the big deal? Maybe he shouldn’t drink. 🤷🏼♀️
Got me! 🙄
An absolute snorefest.
Terrible. What's all the fuss?
This was bs..
