They can be bought in large or small quantities. The real issue is the retail price of about 20€/unit. A project of 10.000 trees would cost 200.000€ just in Groasis boxes!
No labour, tree or bush seedlings, transportation, and several other expenses considered. It's a fortune!
For sure a good deal for the company producing it. But definitely something that can only be accomplished with good financial backup... UN or local governments/institutions funding is a must. More important than the box itself. ;-)

Oh man the price went up even. 26 Euros per boxx now. They are reusable though, up to 10 times supposedly. The Growboxes start at 10 each, but cheaper in bulk.

I'm guessing these mountains did have trees on them originally and they were chopped down for fire-wood/building materials and grazing land as per usual?

No, the location is situated above the natural three line (1800 -3000m i read somewhere). Do trees don't grow spontaniously.

No but those reasons apply to many of Scotland's glens & in other countries.

Many of the trees looked yellowed sickly and I would not give much hope for their long term survival at this altitude, add to that deer browsing and you have a recipe for failure.
