Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Part 2 of diary of an enlisted man in Germany's army, who served on both the Eastern and Western fronts and was wounded four times before being captured in 1944. After a highly unpleasant stay in a French POW camp, he was turned over to American authorities and sent to the U.S., where he spent a comparatively comfortable 14 months in several POW camps. Repatriated in 1948, He worked as a dental technician until his death.

"It is very hard for a respectable girl to secure the man her heart desires. If she does what he wants, then he stays away because he believes she would do it for everyone else. If she doesn't do it, then he thinks she is wasting his time."
Fantastic quote, and very applicable to modern times.

The image has the unit markings on the shoulders whited-out; it was taken and modified at the time.
0:52 - Get some sauce ready; you'll be eating those words. You were in the bocage; a kid with a BB gun could do well in defense there.
12:09 - Avranches is not going to be a healthy location soon.
13:28 - Must have been too hot to keep heading east.
17:58 - ~80KM nearly due north of Avranches, ` 5Km from the coast.

40:15 - Stalingrad marked the end of any successful Nazi strategic offensive effort. The rest is commentary.

44:32 - You have been beyond the end of your strength since late '42/early '43. You have lost. Those officers were attempting to end the bleeding for a lost cause. It's a shame they did not succeed.

I’m addicted to this channel but this guy is so funny and I am an American laughing about them putting some mine in an out house . The things the soldiers can come up with! Poor Americans probably we’re just getting off of the beaches in France and were so green,,meeting these young men just went from being boys to men on D-Day, and this is probably shortly after D-Day. Once the Americans had some on the job training on their side after a couple weeks or a month it was one thing because they learned really really fast there

I enjoy these for the history. The German & Japanese perspectives. Mostly I marvel at the senselessness war. The things humans eagerly do to other humans AKA The Enemy. How people can be so brainwashed by the 'politics ' while their neighbors see the danger. Sadder still Americans who don't think history repeats. Yawn "History is boring". They have no idea of the hell our soldiers went thru to bring The Reich & Japanese down. All they can do is bitch & moan about how horrible THEIR life is. The Gov't sucks. Why vote? Believe absurd conspiracy B.S. Etc Etc
Frankly I am glad I'm old! Maybe I'll see the world come to their senses. I am somewhat doubtful. But hey... HAPPY NEW YEAR. :)
