Never been one of my favorites, but its growing on me. Highlights are the sax and chorus. Check out On Every Street from On the Night. Not many people react to it but after watching it you will wonder why.
Ahh yes the trusty Pedal Steel guitar played by Paul Franklin from the U.S.A regarded as the best if not one of the best pedal steel players in the world. Mark always brings the best musicians into his band and lets them shine. That's why they are always guaranteed to sound great. I Dug Up A Diamond from Mark Knopfler and EmmyLou Harris from Real Live Roadrunning 2006 is another beautiful example. Love your reactions. Cheers from Australia 😊🎸🎷🎙
¡YEAH, FINALLY! ¡I TOLD YOU THAT YOU'D LOVE IT, BECKS! 1:01 ¡OF COURSE YOU KNOW IT! That's a Steel Guitar the one you're talking about. ¿Next Dire Straits reaction? "On Every Street"
Awesome Song brilliant reaction. Let me give you the back story read it and listen to the lyrics. In Newcastle where Mark grew up is a place called the Bigg Market full of bars and nightclubs which used to stay open till the early hours of the morning. After they closed people used to hit the take out food shops to eat pizza burgers and fast food. By about 4am the street cleaners and garbage trucks arrived and did a clean up. Lyrics 'Late night bargains have been struck between satin beau's and their belles' 'Prehistoric garbage trucks had the city to themselves' 'The taxis and the whores were only taking calls for cash!' Chris White on the sax that was haunting! Paul Franklin on steel guitar a magician. Keyboards Alan Clark and Guy Fletcher. Alan was the guy spinning on the chair at the beginning.😊 Glad you enjoyed it!
Can Mark create an atmosphere or what? My skin is tingling. May I suggest another off of "Brothers", (what an album). "Ride Across the River" is astonishing, breathtaking, and can be found live from that same concert. It's called a pedal steel guitar I believe. The player has the frets facing him and the sound is very precise and rich.
Since you always mention how you love the instruments, you should definitely check out Local Hero - Wild Theme (Live, On The Night). Prepare to be blown away by the guitar and the piano there. It's not a long track, there's no vocals, but trust me, I'm a lifelong DS fan, you'll enjoy it 🙂
Thanks again Rebeka for this reaction. You often react on my suggestions and I'm very thankful for that. However, "On the night" version is little bit better than Basel version on my point of view. Yes this is pedal steel guitar for instrument you looking for I guess. "You and your friend" (on the night version) is also something you have to discover. Kisses from France ❤
You really need to venture into his solo career, if you haven't already. So much more to dive into. I'm going to pluck one from the air and recommend "Done with Bonepart" and "Je Suis Desole" from His Golden Heart Album. Such a huge catalogue of work still to look at.
Super nice reaction. Now you need to react to SCORPIONS ACOUSTIC versions Holiday Wind of Change The ZOO Life is To Short Always Somewhere You and I Send Me An Angel Dust in The Wind When Love Kills Love Under The Same Sun All acoustic versions
I've watched your reactions for a long time and must say. I really like them. So if I can suggest from Mark's solo career a few songs you could react to? What It Is, Silvertown Blues and perhaps my personal number one, with Ruth Moody : Wherever I Go. You don't have to but I would really love if you'd do one of those :)
@@Poppy8899-q8o the real dire straits split up in 1986, Sydney was there last concert. After the "notting hillbillies" and "neck and neck" with chet atkins, they came together with a new and bigger band. The drummer and rhythm guitarist have changed and many others came in the band. Still it was Mark, Alan Clarke, Guy Fletcher, John Illsley and the sax player. And the Sultans of Swing is a great version in Basel 1992! I had to see them!❤️
I'm glad to see you're still enjoying your Dire Straits journey, I'm still hoping that you'll get round to Chris Rea soon as he's very similar to Mark style, and i think you'll enjoy his music, and Chris is famous for his bottle neck guitar playing not unlike the lapsteel guitar you enjoying in this song. I've chosen a track to get you started. ua-cam.com/video/J4CNo6Yz7I8/v-deo.htmlsi=umsHaXd3mlrI7_aC
Ok, now what you going to do? Great tenor sax. Classic Knopller with this really cool cute girl, hmm. Did you happen to see her, hey it's you. What, shh yes don't tell anyone. Ok promise.
His solo stuff is amazing. He's just such an adept composer and he understands the value of history and storytelling. In the genre of blues/country/rock, I can't think of anyone who's a better writer. And who can match his virtuosity?
Hi Rebecca I didn't really Care for it jest being onest. You ever heard of high hopes from Pink Floyd. Really loving the song lately. Good to.se you Rebecca ❤.

Yes, I agree, a good place to start with Mark Knopfler live, is the A Night in London concert.
