Hey Christian. I am having challenges getting my imported wav files to play. I don’t hear any sounds and I downloaded the samples from ableton live. I have followed the instructions given on the Alesis video on UA-cam but cannot hear the samples. Can you help? Thanks
Make sure they are 16bit WAV samples. Unless you are running the latest Firmware update you can only use 16bit samples, the new update will convert 24bit to 16bit. You have this option in the export menu In Ableton. Hope this helps!

How does this compare overall to the Yamaha dtx multipad? I feel that they are very close in abilities, the difference being the alesis is the newer technology. The price difference is only $100. Thanks in advance
From my experience, the Strike multipad is easier to navigate. The Yamaha has superb sample quality and great feeling pads like the Strike Multipad but you have a screen that's like a 1/4 of the size. The STM has significantly bigger screen for easy kit changes when playing live. I think one of the main differences is being able to play with your hands, you can do this with the Yamaha as well as the Alesis Strike multipad but you might get better response from DTX. If that's super important for you that maybe try out the DTX. If you are looking for reliability, ample loops, mass amount of samples and full RGB customization then the Alesis Strike Multipad might be a better option. Hope this helps! 🤘
Thanks for your reply besides the obvious differences you pointed out. Do you feel the sound quality is better in one unit over the other? Thanks again
Also what would be your choice ? Also wanted to point only because you mentioned it The Yamaha now has the app which can be used with the unit. Overcoming the small screen issue. But besides that What would be your choice between the two. Thanks again for your response.

So like the Roland SPD SX you are able to load up a 4 or 5 minute backing track(Maybe loaded on pad one or the footswitch), and play that out of the main outs and also use the triggered sounds playing out of the Aux outs (Or vice versa)? Also can this receive/send MIDI like Start/Stop?
Exactly, except this multipad does not have a sample size limit! Yes, you can run backing tracks out of the pads and use the external triggers simultaneously. You can send and receive midi CC as well, each pad can be assigned to a specific CC note. You do not need MMC protocol. I can include this is in the Program Change video I plan to make.

Christian, after using this pad for a while you might find this useful if you didn't find this out already. You can have certain pads and external triggers be set to have different MODE settings. This includes wether the pads enable or disable the metronome that's built in. Go to PAD view and then the control settings if memory serves [not home at the moment.] So with the strike of a pad, you can enable or disable the click. @@CARV.R hey christian... I'm still waiting for the multipad...there are no multipads in stock at the moment in germany... they say i'll get mine in may... unbelievable... thx. for your support...
I bought one of these and tried it out as I was a little skeptical on quality (aka SamplePad Pro) and I already have a SPD-SX. Worry no more as Alesis stepped up their game for this one. This seems to have the quality I enjoyed with the SPD-SX but it is way better in a lot of ways. Roland better step up their game. I sold my SPD-SX and SPD-30 I am not worried one bit about doing it. The Roland stuff is good, and I was once a Roland all the way person, but all of their products are long in the tooth. Tiny outdated LCD screens, limited space for samples, cryptic menus, even their V-Drums line needs to get with it. Only thing they have going is the digital snare and ride, which I have to say are great products. But then they paired it with the TD-50 which in my opinion is short of the mark considering most modules (Strike, Mimic, 2Box) are going to layered samples instead of modeling a 1 or 2 shot sample. Their cymbals and pads are still very good though (ATV and drumtec are taking market share on that too) so if they can just get the module at the level to the liking of the Mimic Pro they may have a chance of owning the market again but as it stands now they are behind in my opinion. Soon, my all Roland e-kit will be just Roland cymbals and those may even go to ATV soon. My long in the tooth TD-12 (used just for triggering SD3 VST) will be replaced with the Mimic Pro once they are in stock again. No more messing with laptop, audio interface, and MIDI soon. Just turn on the module and Strike Pad and play!
Doug, I too use the SPD-SX, exclusively for my live shows for backing tracks, percussion performance and sound effects. How many full 3-4 minute songs (.wav) files can be loaded and stored on the strike? I am assuming if there is no limit I can assign one (or two) to each pad in a "kit" without limitations? So you are saying there is no syncing or samples, or tempo options such as on the SPD-SX? How many Gigs of user samples (backing tracks) can be loaded and stored? Thanks!
@@CARV.R thanks for the response! man, i was going to buy the spdsx but i saw the alesis and now im thinking about buying it. I just didnt buy it at the moment because roland has very good quality products and this is the first time i see a better version of alesis.

I’m considering buying this or the Roland. Can this unit be used like I drum kit? I’m hoping to get a yes or no answer to this question. I specifically need to know if you can connect a hi hat pedal and play a hi hat sound like a hi hat... open, half open, and closed. Thank you.
Hi thanks for making this video...very informative! I just got mine a few weeks ago, loving it, great addition to my home studio set up! I have a question if you don't mind.. I've noticed that most of the factory samples have an 'a' and a 'b' version, so for example kick drum sample '26RKing a' and the next sample is '26RKing b'... my question is do you know what the difference is between the a and the b sample? They sound very similar if not nearly identical to me... is the b sample meant to be like a ghost note or something? Many thanks is advance :)
I have the Alesis Strike Multipad too and what I think that the "a" and "b" version of the same name are is to give some kind of more "natural" sound to the pad, because with this two versions its like you never hit twice producing the exact same sound with a tom, a snare or a kick... I guess...

Hi... Greetings from Dublin Ireland... Great tutorial..... I Have a couple of questions.. 1. I can run backing tracks true the aux channel yes ? 2. Can I adjust the click volume on a backing track on the alesis strike pad ? 3. It is possible to attach 5 triggers to five acoustic drums and constantly have different drum sounds for different songs ? 4 Can I play bars of loops & or constant loops with different triggered sounds on acoustic drums & also play percussion patterns ? A lot of questions there ....it looks like this box of tricks can do it all.... Any info would be greatly appreciated Cheers Biscuits ✌️😵
Hey man, quick question about the inputs and outputs. I have an SPD SX and for live use its just more convenient to use a simple cable for input (monitoring) and outputs (to desk, one channel). So all I need to do is go into the left channel which gives me the ability to go mono. Can you still do this with the Alesis Strike Multipad? Keen to avoid using patch leads or Y leads or plugging into the left channel on the record in and only get sound out the left side of my headset. Would be keen to hear, as that's really my only gripe so far holding me back from buying!
another question, about loops - if you have one or more playing, do they auto sync? or do you have to hit the pad exactly right to start them on time? ; - )
There is no auto-sync for loops (which is too bad) you have to hid the pads at exactly the same time....or you're out of sync. Would be great if they would include this function (as well as adding the ability to quantize and undo in the loop recorder).
@@egodeathbliss Right! How could they miss such an obvious feature? I liked Strike on paper, but returned it after thinking the pad sensitivity wasn't right, and the menus confusing. I might buy SPDs or Nord Drum later
@@CARV.R Hello and Thank you! I have pad 7 assigned to "tap tempo control". I have custom, and factory loops assigned to the other pads. However, those loops will only play in the bpm they were recorded. The tap tempo control isn't adjusting the bpm of the loops at all. I do see that it changes the bpm of the "selected kit". I would like to know how to get the pad assigned to a tap tempo control to work.
@@chriscirullo161 The tap tempo feature is only to turn on/off the volume of the metronome itself, it's not going to warp any loops to the current bpm setting, this multipad does not have the capability of warping loops in real time
Make sure to remove any samples you don't use in your kits, that's what affects loading times the most. You can load up 25-30 or so samples per kit, so make sure youre only using what you need and that will help. It's not the size of the samples that causes slightly lengthier loading times, it's the *amount* of samples. Even so, mine takes 2 seconds to load tops with heavy sample kits.
I just don't see the point of making a unit with 32 gig memory but no loop time stretching / sync and only 2 velocity layers in 2019. Might as well just buy some pads and a proper sampler.

This includes wether the pads enable or disable the metronome that's built in. Go to PAD view and then the control settings if memory serves [not home at the moment.] So with the strike of a pad, you can enable or disable the click. You can also adjust where you want to the click to go out of, output options include combinations with your phones/mains/aux. Just hold the metronome button for these options. Hope this helps! 🤘
@@CARV.R hey christian... I'm still waiting for the multipad...there are no multipads in stock at the moment in germany... they say i'll get mine in may... unbelievable... thx. for your support...
"Sample Record Inputs/USB Audio"
Máx. recording time is?
No Max. Unless you have a sample that is 26GB big. The Strike Multipad is good like that!
@@CARV.R amazing! Thank you very much
Great video btw*✌
Thanks!
NM regarding sync question, just watched rest of video and looked up the info.
worth buying it? is it better than the spdsx?
@@3TruthSeeker33 Correct, no sync, no tempo change
hey man, i was wondering the quality of the product...? is it better than the SPD SX ...? worth buying it?
It has every feature that pad does and more. Very reciliant and customizable! I love it!
@@CARV.R thanks for the response! man, i was going to buy the spdsx but i saw the alesis and now im thinking about buying it. I just didnt buy it at the moment because roland has very good quality products and this is the first time i see a better version of alesis.
@@CARV.R durability wise ...?good conditions?
Yes so far I have not seen anything go wrong! No cross talk issues, good weight, a lot of sounds! Feels like a professional product 😊 You cant sequence, only loop in the Multipad, in case that was a main thing you need. Might be in the future who knows
@@CARV.R okay perfect! Thanks man!
I guess...
@@adampurti837 Thanks...yep that makes total sense! :)
Could you do a "How to" video, for those who are starting to use Alesis Strike multi pad?
Alesis made a 10 video course on how to use specific settings in more detail, if you want the crash course, the basic functions are explained through out my video. Here is a link to their course ! 😊

How to change loop tempo(BPM) in live
You have to slave the Strike Multipad to Ableton live. Change the clock settings to external in the Utility Menu.
Any info would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Biscuits ✌️😵
Mine arrives tomorrow so stocked.
I got mine two days ago... this thing is SOOOO FLIUFFFY heheh
Nice. Are the pads loud acoustically? I mean will I annoy the neighbours just by banging on this thing? (with headphones on)
These are even quieter than electronic drum pads in my opinion (Mesh and FSR Pads.) Your neighbors will be happy!
@@CARV.R Fantastic thx :) I must own this thing very soon
thanks for this question! i have an octapad & it's LOUD!! the answer makes me want one of these! :-)
multipad sync to ableton video please!!! thanks!
Will try to work on it this week!
nice!! thank you! :)@@CARV.R

another question, about loops - if you have one or more playing, do they auto sync? or do you have to hit the pad exactly right to start them on time? ; - )
Yes you will have to play them in at the right time, there is no sequencer in this unit as of far so it will not automatically quantize. 👍
@@CARV.R sounds good! i wouldn't want any of that syncing feeling for what i want to do!
We still taking questions here?
What's your question
@@CARV.R Hello and Thank you! I have pad 7 assigned to "tap tempo control". I have custom, and factory loops assigned to the other pads. However, those loops will only play in the bpm they were recorded. The tap tempo control isn't adjusting the bpm of the loops at all. I do see that it changes the bpm of the "selected kit". I would like to know how to get the pad assigned to a tap tempo control to work.
@@chriscirullo161 The tap tempo feature is only to turn on/off the volume of the metronome itself, it's not going to warp any loops to the current bpm setting, this multipad does not have the capability of warping loops in real time
The main reason choosing the Alesis Strike Multipad over the Roland SPD-SX is because of Strike Multipad’s looping options.
Then, why didn't you tell us the price
Because that varies on your region. You can see who has it available by going to the Alesis dealers page on their web site. Thanks!
Kit loading times are slow as fuck! switching between kits live is a disaster
Have you some how used the Xtractpler tool to create samples from other VSTs or even hardware modules? Check it here: www.xtractpler.com
If you want your Roland SPD-SX to have 32 GB or 64 GB of storage, 5 minutes, a screw driver and a micro SD card is all you need. Look it up on youtube
I just don't see the point of making a unit with 32 gig memory but no loop time stretching / sync and only 2 velocity layers in 2019. Might as well just buy some pads and a proper sampler.
Brah you fly through this stuff like we all have ESP = fucking confusing as hell!!!
Wait till it breaks, no one will fix it…
